Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

One little annoyance was the noise from other people from about 6.30 every morning.
Welcoming host. Helped us hire mopeds for the day- she looked after a passport as a deposit. Excellent location. Short walk to the evening market. Lots of tuk tuks around for transport options. Clean and comfortable room.

Beds were quite hard but still managed to sleep ok. Most staff didn't speak great English but we got by fine
Well located and in a quiet area. Nice breakfast and they arranged the slow boat to Thailand for us

When there were guests in either of the neighbouring rooms, I could hear every single word they said. I have a feeling, that there is no actual wall separating the rooms - it is impossible to check, but I am a hundred percent sure this was the case. Very inconvenient, they will also hear every flush of the toilet from your room of course. Also, at first, they showed me a room downstairs, which was dark and had a very strong smell - mold. I immediately said no, so they gave me the room upstairs. The neighbours across the street organise karaoke parties every now and then, right outside this house, in the street. Oh, the pain... until at least 10 or 11pm, sometimes even later. Be careful with payment - they quote everything in USD, but if you pay with kip, they will use their own, exorbitant exchange rate, plus 3% extra if you decide to pay by card.
The guesthouse has two separate buildings, I stayed at the one nearer to the river. This house has a large terrace upstairs, with tables for each room (3 rooms altogether upstairs). My room was a spacious double, with a large, comfortable bed. I also had a cupboard and a long desk, which was great for working. I could also sit outside on the terrace with my laptop. They provide free cold and hot water, and I think coffee and tea too in the main building, but I used my own, so I am not sure. Most of the staff members do not speak English, but they are nice and smiling. Wifi is good, although not super fast. Breakfast is OK.

everything was good for me.
The most amazing hosts, made you feel at home and nothing was to much trouble. My room was clean and comfortable. With good ac and nice hot shower. plus a very nice breakfast with good selection to choose from.

Mosquitos kept sneaking into the room.
The staff was very helpful and the location of the hotel is good. The shower was very good. For breakfast, there is not much choice but it's enough, and it's cooked for you on the spot. They also offered us some fruit, which was very kind.

Being taken for fools ...refused to give us the premium rate room we booked and paid for. We have raised a formal dispute with booking.com
Refused to give us the room with balcony we booked and paid extra for (denied it even existed but we could see it!) tried to put us in an awful room with no windows. Eventually after 30 minutes wrangling given a slightly better room,ie 1 window no balcony or outside seating area but tried to get us to cancel our reservation on booking.com which would then mean this review doesn't show up. This is clearly common practice. Don't expect to get the room you booked and paid for

All things considered, there was nothing I could pin-point that I didn't like.
This hotel was booked with no real negative or positive expectations, mainly booked on location and price point, however, I really loved staying here. The room was cute, the staff were lovely, and I was genuinely happy to have stayed here during my time in Luang Prabang.

Wiring in our room was a bit dodgy so lost power frequently and bathroom light took a long time to turn on, I think this is common for the area though
Good location. Breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly hand very helpful. We stayed during Pi Mai so we were right in the thick of it just of the Main Street.
