Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe room was dirty, the curtains were filthy, stains all along the wall. We were supposed to be in a double bed but we were in two singles pushed together, this meant there was a crack in the middle so we had to just sleep separately essentially, only one single duvet for the both of us and then another single duvet without a cover which I found in the cupboard. It too was filthy. Tried to use the hairdryer and it just heated up red hot and smelt like burning plastic then sparked and shorted out. The hotel is falling apart with glass panes missing and also my partners shoes got stolen at one point after leaving them in the lobby where there were other shoes left. And after harassing the staff to look through CCTV multiple times did the shoes miraculously turn up. The only good thing is the sweet older gentleman working behind the desk.
The air con worked well

AustraliaLooks like a nice hotel that has been a bit let go. Everything is a bit run down and dusty or broken. The Tv was melted on the screen in sections and many channels didn’t work. The fridge was leaking water into floor. Bed was hard and not level. The shower door was rusted open. The door to the room was a bit broken so there was a trick to opening it with the key. There was no tea or coffee in room. Vientiane really didn't have much going on. The city seemed dead during the day. The night market was the busiest thing we saw.
We got the room from the photos. Shower was great! Best shower of our trip. Rain shower and a movable one on the wall. Hot water was good. We had two balcony’s, one in the room and one with a door from the outside. Not a bad view. We had breakfast included though we had to leave early so we missed it. :( We saw the menu and it looked basic but ok. You could get soup and pancakes and such. Tea and coffee you got yourself. The dining room looked fine. The older owner dude took us to our room and had the cleaner clean it straight away when he noticed water on the floor from the fridge. Location was good near a bus stop and some temples. Wifi was good. We got a small bottle of water each in the room and they let us check in early.

United StatesBooked city view room, given room with view of wall. Bathmats, towels and sheets ripped and old looking. Bed lumpy with spring poking through. Complained to desk, was moved to a better room but still dusty. Mosquitos also showed up despite keeping windows and doors shut. Many other options in this price range and neighborhood.
Location was good. Breakfast basic egg, toast, coffee, juice, noodles, fruit.

AustriaThe bathroom was not clean. The slide-doors from the walk in shower didn’t work properly and the handle of one of the doors was broken. In general the shower looked like it hadn’t been cleaned decently for a while. Also, water was leaking from the sink, so in the beginning the bathroom floor was constantly wet. Luckily they were able to fix it. The young cleaning ladies were sitting around in the staircase a lot, on their phones taking selfies or spending their time on social media. We would have appreciated if they had taken more time to clean properly.
Central location. Style of the furniture. Nice view from our room in the sixth floor. Also the room where breakfast was served was nice. The owner seemed dedicated and was very friendly.

RussiaThere was no a door knob inside of a room so we were moved to a different room. We didn’t have a kettle and there was only one pillow, I guess they forgot to put it. The stairs wasn’t clean enough.
The 7th floor is the best thing of this place. You can work there with a good view.
