How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewConvenient location and the room is equipped with modern facilities with one touch central control of curtains and lights. Great pool with 20 m length and large jacuzzi and sauna area.
Breakfast closes at 10 am which is earlier than market norm of 10.30 am - 11 am. At check out, the staff was not clear of the items charged upon my enquiry and even spoken to me in Korean that I clearly can’t understand. Our room was a bit stuffy with insufficient air conditioning and the toilet seat was not properly cleaned and sanitized.

Verified reviewStaying at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Perfectly located in the heart of the city, it offers a prime central position with breathtaking views directly overlooking Seoul Plaza. The hotel’s atmosphere exudes prestige and sophistication, and every detail—from the elegant decor to the spotless rooms—reflects a high standard of cleanliness and care. The check-in and check-out process was seamless and efficient, handled by some of the most courteous and professional staff I’ve encountered. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, The Plaza is a superb choice that combines comfort, style, and impeccable service in one of Seoul’s most iconic locations.

Verified reviewUpon arrival, everything seemed fine. The check-in process was smooth, and I was optimistic about my stay. However, that optimism quickly faded when I woke up one morning to find my bathroom completely flooded. My toiletries and bath towels were soaked! While the staff apologized and asked to move me to another room, they didn't offer any explanation for the flooding issue. To make up for the inconvenience, I received a bottle of wine, which was a nice gesture, but it didn’t fully compensate for the hassle. On my second night, things took a turn for the worse. Despite being exhausted from a full day of touring, I couldn’t sleep at all. The room had a strange, eerie vibe, and I genuinely felt an unsettling presence, something I’ve never experienced in all my travels. As if that wasn't enough, I felt the same eerie sensation on my third night. It became so overwhelming that I had to change hotels in the middle of the night. Thankfully, there was another hotel nearby that had availability.
The cleanliness of the hotel was also concerning. The carpet in my room had a musty smell and clearly needed a deep clean—vacuuming wasn't enough. It made me sneeze throughout my stay, which contributed to the overall discomfort. While I travel frequently and have stayed at numerous hotels, I can confidently say that this experience was one of the worst. The combination of flooding, strange feelings at night, and cleanliness issues made it impossible to enjoy my stay. I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Verified reviewI've stayed at Plaza many times. If the room is bigger, it will be PERFECT! I like the location as I hang out at Myeongdong a lot. I know how to get around to the areas that I need. This time my stay coincided with Squid Games Season 3 event and I was able to view from my room! Great bonus! Having the airport limo (6701) available for this hotel is also a plus point for me. I will continue to stay at Plaza for security and value for money. So keep the rates competitive and reasonable!
Room size and set up - a bit small. Nothing much that you can do.

Verified reviewLocation was great. Loved the view of the plaza and all the activities right outside. Right in the centre of things. Bed was comfortable.
Room was small and dated and not a five star experience. Nowhere to put luggage. No racks or space other than one wardrobe. Miserly offering of teas/coffee etc. Shower head could not be angled. Poor offering of coffee and bakery items on weekends in a so-called “boulangerie” that did not open until 10:00am. We were not interested in a full buffet breakfast. There is little open in the surrounding area if you want a quick breakfast somewhere on any day. The concierge was of little help in finding nearby options. Tip: there is a bagel and coffee shop called Beargels which seems to be the only open option, but that gets boring after the first day.

Verified reviewThis was my second stay at the hotel, and once again, it was a very pleasant experience. The room was big, clean, and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent, it is close to many sightseeing spots, which made exploring the area very convenient. I especially want to highlight the valet team they were outstanding. Always positive, helpful, and ready to assist, even when I had questions about nearby places to visit. Their attitude truly added a special touch to my stay. Highly recommended, and I look forward to coming back again!
