How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGood selection at buffet and very nice fb manager and all the chefs were nice . Lotsa variety of different cuisine only glitch was closes at 10 am sharp think timings could be extended . Ms Amy from front office team who checked us in deserves to be promoted as she can communicate well with guest be proactive and offer options . English was very good and she is an assess to the hotel . One of the bell boy outside was very friendly abd helpful and housekeeping lady was very kind . Overall good staff but maybe English communication should be better as could not understand few people .
Room service had no options for vegetarians and we had to request several times and meet fb team till they understood the whole concert of vegetarians and no egg no fish etc . Duty manger was bit rude once Mr Frank when we requested for food substitutes for egg options as if we trying for free and later they offered us a comp meal which we could not fit in due to departure .

Verified reviewLuxury hotel with great choice of restaurants , good location, good breakfast, confortable rooms. A pleasant rooftop terrace accessible from the execitive lounge.
I think it should be more clean in the toilet. Furthermore, it was included an access to the executive loungue which supposedly should be open until 9 pm ( based on their website) but when we arrived after 7 pm there was no snacks, only drinks and some biscuits. The information should be more accurate.

Verified reviewThe convenience to doota mall/DDP and dongdaemun station. The staff were superb, extremely friendly. Shoutout to the doormen, they would ask for your cab number (if you’re waiting for one) and actually go out of the hotel premises to wait and lookout for your taxi and guide them into the hotel for you. Impeccable service.
4 things, 1. The biggest issue which would concern a lot of people, NO CONVENIENCE STORE FOOD ALLOWED BACK IN THE HOTEL. Meaning, NO microwaveable food, NO kimbap, NO triangle onigiri, nothing that is considered a meal to the hotel staff is allowed. They told me only “small food” allowed, where the reception explained only packet potato chips etc were allowed. This seriously pissed me off because firstly, it didn’t say ANYWHERE in the hotel website or booking.com that no outside food were allowed. Only upon check in did they tell us this ridiculous rule. I asked why such a rule even existed, they told me that it’s to avoid cases of food poisoning but kept insisting that they have a “24 hours in room dining”. No offence, but who’s to say, one wouldn’t get food poisoning from their in room dining too. It’s definitely a possibility. There was a night where I asked them if there was a microwave available in the hotel, they kept reiterating before I could even mention why I needed the microwave (I have a 5 month old baby by the way), that no outside food is allowed. I found that very ridiculous and decided not to carry on with the conversation. 2. Now this was the main issue I had with the hotel, no food deliveries allowed (now I know not everybody would be bothered by this as some people don’t know how to use the delivery app or care to have supper) but it’s all about the Korean experience. We enjoyed going back to the hotel rooms on our previous trips and ordering food we couldn’t stomach after dinner or simply too tired to travel to another place to eat. Watching shows and eating in the comfort of our room. 3. The pillows were ridiculously soft for a pretty hard bed. It’s to the point where stacking 2 pillows on top of the other didn’t work as well. My head still sunk all the way to the bed. 4. Honestly, 5 stars hotel but the toilet was O L D. You can see that they did nothing to refurbish the bathroom.

Verified reviewJW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul is a lovely hotel and the staff are absolutely amazing - it is a lovely clean hotel and has everything that you need. Rooms are immaculate, we had a corner suite with wonderful views. House keeping staff kept the room immaculate and all the staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and we ate at the steak restaurant for one meal which was perfect. Probably one of the nicest hotels that we have stayed in.
