Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsUnfortunately I had a guy snoring in my room. Basically had no sleep at all. I think the two other guys in my room also had a bad sleep because of him.
Breakfast was great! And the staff is super nice.

United KingdomThe only downfall was the small room, it wasn’t a big issue as I got along with my roommates but getting ready in the morning was a bit of a challenge in the space. It wouldn’t put me off staying here again though.
Fantastic location and a great base to explore Insadong and Myeong-dong by foot, with super easy access to metro/bus links for other parts of the city. Lovely staff, clean and pretty good breakfast.

United StatesNothing really.
This is a great option right in the middle of Insadong. There were plenty of restaurants, convenient stores, and local attractions within walking distance. The train station and airport bus stop are a 3 minute walk away. The area also felt really safe. I stayed in a private bedroom, and everything was as pictured. The room wasn't big but would be enough space for a solo traveler, couple, or parent with a child. It had a small fridge, ac, and tv. Note I didn't use the ac or TV. The bathroom had a wc, sink, and shower (no separate shower space). Basic toiletries and towels were provided. Breakfast is included and is self-serve eggs, bread, juice, tea, coffee, fruit, and assorted veggies. The host is really nice and is usually available to answer questions. Great value and great location.

Sri LankaThe room was smaller than I thought. There was a AC but the remote was not there. Breakfast is free but you have to make it by yourself. Overall it was a good stay. The location was perfect. Close to the bus station and the metro. Lots of attractions within walking distance. One bus away from the Airport

GermanyThe furnishings and overall interior are a bit dated, so you should be aware of that. The rooms are also on the smaller side. However, considering the very affordable price, I think it’s a fair trade-off.
The hostel has a really warm and welcoming atmosphere. I especially appreciated the generous breakfast – there were eggs, toast, muesli, and even sweet potatoes during my stay, plus juice and coffee. Mr. Kim, the owner, is incredibly kind and hospitable, which made a big difference. The rooftop terrace is absolutely lovely, a great place to relax. And the location is truly unbeatable – it doesn’t get better than this!

PortugalThe place is not a hostel per se. It's more like a super big house with lots of rooms. There's no common room or any space you can hang out with others. The only thing you can use outside of your bed is the kitchen table which is also the table that the owner stays all day and when he goes to sleep (around 23:00) he just closes everything and turn off all the lights. So you either stay out of the hostel or go to your bed to sleep.
Free good breakfast. Location is superb with close transport, lots of amenities and quiet neighborhood.

United KingdomThe rooms could do with updating and the position of the shower wasn't ideal as it turned the bathroom into a wet room. The key lock system was temperamental at times and it would be helpful if the hostel contact number was on whatsapp given that many international guests can't ring phone numbers but can call numbers on whatsapp.
The hostel was extremely good value for such a fantastic location close to key tourist attractions. The owner was helpful and friendly and the free breakfast was a bonus.

AustraliaIt's not a proper shower. If you're really trying to go cheap it's doable. My friend and I were fine not having a proper shower for a week.
Cheap, good location, locals were good with english, could leave bags there at any time. The rooftop area was fun but it was winter when I went so it was too cold.

New ZealandThe room smelt really, really strongly of what I hope was cleaning products, particularly the mattresses. It didn't go away even with me airing out the room as best as possible. Very headache inducing and I ended up sleeping with a mask on to try and reduce the smell.

United StatesIt’s a small property so rooms & common spaces might be a bit cramped; but for this location, price and overall quality, you can’t beat it
Incredible location- walking distance to all the main sights, in a cute traditional neighborhood, right off a major bus stop and metro station (whose line connects direct to the Express Bus Terminal); the owner is really nice & there is a cute cat! Also, a nice rooftop to chill on & free use of the washing machine. Plus, it was the only hostel dorm I ever stayed in that had its own mini-fridge.
