Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

LatviaIt is quite a hike up the hill. Therefore, it is a great opportunity for a morning/evening workout :D

JapanAs other reviews might have mentioned, it is located ontop of a 15 degree + incline, so if you stay in summer you will be sweaty by the time you reach the door. Would be difficult to access for those with mobility issues.
Great view, and always felt lively because of the mix of long term and short term travelers staying there. Depending on the room you book, you can also have all the privacy you desire. Great view from my 5th floor room, and the rooftop can be a great place to spend time.

JapanThe doors are heavy, and the staircase echoes so when someone closes a door, even on a different floor you can hear the door slamming echo through. Also the doors are super thin so if someone’s having even a basic conversation or if there are people on the rooftop (which was super nice!!) you can hear them pretty well… Even late at night, when we needed to sleep earlier for an early flight the next morning we could clearly hear people enjoying themselves (which isn’t the issue ofc), or people were loud late at night…
Good enough space and needed amenities were nice!

Czech RepublicThis time I was quite upset with other guests because they were very loud on the hallway past midnight and through the whole night so I couldn't really sleep. I understand that is not the fault of the guesthouse but more as a coincidence who will stay at the same time as you in the guesthouse. But I was quite disapointed. Maybe it was because our room was placed next to the shared room... also there was a little mold in the bathroom on the sink but it was ok. And the kitchen is not equiped if you wanna cook there but we used just mugs.
This was my third stay in this guesthouse and I was satisfied as always. We had a smaller room, with the bed for two, but we managed to get around the room even with our suitcases opened. I really like how the rooms are decorated! We also had a tiny balcony with a nice view and window in the bathroom, what was great, because the bathroom gets humid very easily. I really love the location of the guesthouse. You can get to the subway stations Mapo and Gondok within 10-15 minutes in walking distance. There are lots of shops and restaurants and cafés around. Also, you can get to the very city center within 15 minutes by subway and still the location of the guesthouse is really quite and calm. There is also a bank with global ATM next to the exit of the Mapo station. The stuff of the guesthouse is very kind and helpful. They responded me here on booking app within few hourse and helped me with everything I needed. You can also catch them in the common room during the day or in the evening. During your stay, you can change your towels for new ones, and what I really appreciated is that in the hallway there is a water purifier where you can fill your bottles with drinkable water for free. Also there is a lift in the guesthouse so you can reach your floor conveniently with your luggages. I truly recommend this guesthouse.

IndiaThe location is very surprising, like hiking on a tar road so better to take taxi, for family i don't feel its comfortable compare to bachelor's stay. The utensil are bit old so they should change it and also the towels. The rooms are having less space inside to move and keep the bags..
It is having a good party like vibe in the guesthouse for the bachelor's. The owner is very welcoming and friendly in nature..Beds are comfortable for peaceful sleep.

VietnamThe washroom sink runs a bit slow, but that’s understandable I guess since it’s a room rented by a whole bunch of people each year with no break so frequent maintenance might be tricky.
Juliana (who I think was the guesthouse’s owner) was exceptionally helpful and hospitable. The room was clean, cozy, with everything you needed prepared in advance. The common room was also great, extra brownie points for Juliana’s pets. Those little pups were definitely a surprise but they were a happy surprise :)

United KingdomIt can't be helped, but the road to the guesthouse is steep, so if you are planning to walk from the train or bus station with heavy luggage, that might not be the best idea.
Clear self-check in instructions; Accessibility to Mapo train station and other nearby bus stops (approx 9-15 minutes walk depending on your pace); Clean toilet; Comfortable bed; Water purifier station outside the room; Lots of options for nearby convenience stores; Good value for money

IrelandThe WiFi and TV didn't work. There is a very steep driveway to the residence
The rooms were spacious and comfortable. It had an Aircon and a private bathroom which I preferred. The common room is always vibing. There is a big screen TV and a kitchen. A place to meet new people. It's a 5min walk to the shops. For an affordable place I would recommend Han River Residence and Guesthouse

SlovakiaThe balcony in the yellow room wasn't really a space to enjoy - technical stuff (pipes, wires) is there, it is closed and not a nice view. But as I didn't spend a lot of time in the room, it was not a problem. No coffee and no breakfast - sad but not a big issue with caffes down the hill. Location - up the hill, not far from the public transport (10 min), however a bit secluded feeling.
The owner is very welcoming, invested a lot if effort to create comfortable and family-like hostel - with common spaces, filtered water, microwave etc. I felt safe with the authomatic lock system. There was everything in the room - towels, hairdryer, hair straightener, cooker even a toothpaste.

RussiaA small but cozy room, all the amenities are there, especially considering that we left in the morning and returned only in the evening. There are many cafes nearby, the nearest store is 5 minutes away, and the metro is 10 minutes away. All the sights are about an hour away by metro. The hostess is very friendly and sweet, explained everything in detail. She was attentive to us on every issue. In general, I really liked everything. Thank you, Julia, for the hospitality!
