Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United States-It's been said before, but it bears repeating -- the bathroom is abysmal. At first, I gave it a pass because I thought it was old, but the wooden walls were actually just cheap wallpaper. The sink had two faucets, one for hot water and the other for cold...it felt like a rotting American public school from the 1920s. It also smelled really bad.
-Volunteers were friendly and helpful. -Good location to the main attractions [walking distance]. -Backpacker feel. -Stellar and chill common areas to unwind.

NetherlandsThe bed was left unfixed and “broken”, I had to rearrange and fix springs below the mattress late at night. The bathroom was built in a provisory way, from duplex wood/plastic panel, poor ventilation, a very dirty bathtub with orange markings and in which you had to stand to shower, which is very dangerous and slippery with slippers on, or nasty without. The area outside of the bathtub was covered in a grod made of far apart thick green plastic tubes, painful to walk on without slippers. The matresses are decent but a bit too rigid for my taste. All of this is not uncommon for hostels in general but it was the first time on our 23 day trip around South-Korea. All is still acceptable especially for this price, but still this is how it was.
The kind lady that helped us with late access was beyond kind. The vibe in the hostel was amazing and the location was great. The price was also great. This is a great place to stay if you’re with young and/or fit people.

NetherlandsExactly what you would expect. Cheap stay, facilities weren’t always working the way they should, but price-quality was nice. If you’re a traveller on a budget, this is a fun place to meet others and have a good stay near the tombs!

United StatesThis was such a lovely hostel! Very close walking distance from the train station. The hostel staff were lovely, privacy curtains for the beds, and each room has its own private bath! They also give you a coupon for a free beer at the bar attached to the hostel. I would definitely recommend this location if you're staying in Gyeongju!

FranceGreat experience at this hostel. Perfectly located, it allows you to visit most tourist attractions on foot. It’s also right next to several bus stops and the main bus station, which made it easy for me to explore sites further out in the mountains. The rooms are simple, the bedding is clean, and the internet connection is good. Nothing to complain about.

AustraliaNo key was given to our room. We were able to lock it from inside while we slept but otherwise had to leave the room unlocked. Towels provided were tiny. Otherwise for the price, very good.
Location is fantastic, especially for the price. Room was a good size and bathroom perfectly functional.

United KingdomNo deal breakers. For the price it's excellent. Some hooks in the rooms would be great for a little less clutter.
Great hostel, excellent value for money. Dorm room was comfy and had it's own bathroom. Beds were big and there is a blind for privacy. The breakfast area and chill out room are great, and the free beer on entry at the bar next-door is a nice touch. Met some people staying there, good for socialising in the evening. Convenient bus stop for getting to various places in Gyeongju. Would recommend if you are travelling on a budget.

PortugalEverything in my room was either moldy or rusty. The bathroom doesn't have any windows so even the smell there was unpleasant. Not the cleanest as well.
Super fun place. There's a bar next door and they give you a free beer when checking-in. Staff was nice and always cheerful. The place has a huge common room downstairs and has that "backpackers/travelers" vibe so you can make friends and have conversations.

GermanyNicely decorated common rooms, really nice staff and more family-like atmosphere, they will also give you tips on what to visit best, very good location, close to a great streetfood market. Basic breakfast included, but you can also cook in the kitchen yourself. The rooms in general were clean, only the shower is really old and the sink waters, sadly the bathroom overall was not in such a great condition. Since I only stayed three nights, I decided to wait until my next accomodation to shower. Apart from the bathroom definitely a nice hostel and completely enough to stay for a few nights.
