Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThere were some mosquitos inside but we were aware. There were short blackouts (which were resumed within 15 min). We were shocked with - although it is NOT related to the hotel! - the contrast between the beauty of the island and the sea and the quantity of plastic trash on the beaches and jungles. We hope that the problem could be solved one day through a plastic collection campaign which could also include visitors’ assistance (we did collect quite a volume of plastic during our stay and brought it to the trash).
Staff was excellent and dedicated. Manager Lee (I hope I’m writing correctly) was a gem: responded all requests and questions, making our stay easy. Cleaning ladies were efficient. Staff in the resto was fast and efficient. Beds were good. Wifi was efficient. Showers worked well.

United KingdomThe mattress was unbelievably hard. Sockets in rooms not in convenient locations. Dark rooms. Limited restaurants in the village. Not enough sun lounges on the beach. Had to move the kettle on to the floor to plug in. In my opinion not 4 star but 3.
Excellent location absolutely stunning. The cabins were laid out well and very quiet. Very much off the beaten track. Ideal for couples.

AustraliaThe owner(s) of this property need to spend some money on the external up keep of the property. Considering the cost compared to other resorts on Sok San, it being high season and the resort being full, we expected a higher level. Breakfast was abysmal, with guests having to line up for single plates of fruit to be brought out at a time. VERY limited offerings with little for vegetarians. So horrible that we forfeited our included breakfast to go pay for a meal elsewhere. Also, there was a towel shortage, we went without a couple of times. Another message to the owners to invest in making sure the resort is well stocked to provide for ALL guests. Nowhere near enough sun lounges, especially when a certain type of guest thinks it’s considerate to leave their belongings on sun lounges for their entire stay so no one else can use them, even if they sit there empty for hours on end. The staff did an amazing job considering how understaffed and obviously exhausted they were. One more thing… Consider the environment and offer free water refills!
The room itself was beautiful and spacious (suite). The location is good, easy walk to restaurants up the beach. The staff were great, very hard working within the limits of their provisions

AustraliaThe beds and pillows were terrible.
OMG what a location!! It is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We chose this side of the island because it's quieter. The resort is in much need of some TLC. It is certainly run down but still perfectly functional. We had a beach front room. It was on the small side. The bed was large but was one of the hardest I've slept on in Asia - and that's saying something! Overall, we totally enjoyed the visit and will be back .

AustraliaIt's not that we didn't like it. Just if you are travelling with families understand it's a poor country with limited resources on the island and the facilities are very old and run down. More like a scout cabin. But very clean. Lovely and simple though don't look at the mattresses. Depending on what you pay, if it's good value then stay and enjoy a few days and support the local village community. Take books for the school if you can.
The best part is the local village a minutes walk from the resort. And the people. Please remember that Cambodia is still a poor country and housing for the locals is far less than the standard of the hotel. The staff are lovely and most people speak several languages, including English. The beach on most days is clean and they have a lovely lady clean the beach every morning (feel free to buy her coffee)

Singapore- This was WAY too expensive for what it was. This should be 50% of the price. Not good value. - Everything was old and in good need for upkeep. - Nothing ancillary can be charged to the hotel eg scooter rental, boat trip ... this leaves you in a position of needing to have enough cash to cover everything. (Note for others- take lots of cash) - Breakfast was poor. When we were there at 8am, things had already started to run out.
Great beach. Good location Friendly staff The beds were comfortable and the room what we expected

CanadaFood options at the hotel are very limited and expensive but there are a few other options nearby the hotel for half price. The hotel is a bit rundown and needs some updating. There are several activities to do but at an additional cost, and these seem quite overpriced.
Location is really nice, amazing beach. Easy to get to from Sihanoukville with the boat to Sok San, then a $3-$5 tuktuk to the hotel. Rooms are simple but comfortable - our family room had AC, fans and hot shower. We enjoyed the snorkelling excursion but it’s a bit pricey. Would recommend for a couple of days for anyone looking for a quiet time on an amazing beach

AustriaIt is quite overpriced for what it is. When we were there they didn’t have a fully staffed restaurant- the only drinks available were juice, Heineken, and tonic water. Prices in the restaurant were properly European - we paid 36$ for a light lunch and 4 juices. Additionally, while we loved the location it is very far from everything- tuk tuk to the pier will cost you 15$, and the village that you can walk to has only a few restaurants and very small roadside snack shops.
The beachfront was great, water crystal clear. The best part about the hotel were the activities they offered - night plankton snorkel and day snorkelling trip. The beds were really comfy.

New ZealandIt would be good to let people know a tuk tuk costs between $15-$20 to get you to the resort . We knew it was low season but had no idea most of the staff weren’t there which meant no cocktails available and a lot of the food wasn’t available. The rubbish along the beaches and basically everywhere was pretty disgusting although the resort itself was free of any rubbish .
The accom was lovely . We had a Huge bungalows on a very pretty setting. The skeleton staff ( was wet season) were lovely. Breakfast was good.

CambodiaDespite the beauty of the location, the place has clearly run down and decreased in quality over the past years. We have stayed there before, during, and after COVID and we can see how it has gradually run down. There are a few things we were disappointed with: - The private boat service from Sihanoukville is no longer provided (room prices remained the same) - Staff was not attentive to the costumers - Dirty dishes were being left around the place, under the umbrellas, for the entire day attracting a lot of flies and bugs - A lot of flies in the whole place overall. Despite having a clean beach and fairly clean rooms, the place itself was not particularly clean. - The WiFi connection was really bad and there was no WiFi in the rooms - there is also not a very good cellular connection on the island so we were kind of isolated (not a bad thing if you are looking for some quiet and peace, but not if you need to be connected) - Toilets need some renovation overall, from the showerhead to the shampoo bottles that are clearly very old - The place would definitely do well with a post-COVID renovation (including in management) - The service at the restaurant was not very good - a lot of missing items on the menu We absolutely love that beach and we have always loved to stay at Sok San Beach Resort so this time it was a big disappointment to see the place that run-down and neglected. It is still one of the best places to stay because of the beach and the location, but we wish the management was more attentive to details, to the customers, and to the quality of the service.
The resort is at a great location, which sells the place alone. The nature surrounding it is beautiful and the fact that it sits just on the sand by the beach makes it one of the best places to stay on the island. The beach was cleaner than the last times we stayed there.
