This was the perfect place to relax for a couple of days. The accomodation is very simple, so be prepared for that. Nak is a wonderful host and obviously loves the island and hosting his guests. His partner cooks all the meals and everything I had was very good. The island is a very short boat trip from the mainland and Nak sent me directions on how to get to the pick-up shortly after I booked my stay. He also arranged for my trip back to Sihanoukville. The accomodation is basic so here’s a list of things to think about: - the only power comes from a generator which runs from 6-9 pm, so bring a power bank for your phone and a torch for the night - there’s no wifi but I had a good connection with my phone - don’t forget the mosquito repellent and a cream for insect bites Overall I enjoyed my stay at Nak’s Shack and can recommend it.

Dream place in nature. Very basic. Not many amenities. If you are nature fan like we are and you want to see bioluminescence plankton swimming in the night this is the place for you. Very good local food.

The place could use some "woman's touch" when the budget allows as it's not particularly aesthetic as often places like these are. The food is a lot pricier than on the mainland, but it was to be expected.

Aaaamazing place, great service, easy to get to and back to mainland. The outdoor beds are so cozy. The beach at the area of the accommodation is clean. So peaceful as there is only 5 bungalows. We saw glowing plankton thanks to the manager giving us a tip!

Brilliant place - truly remote and disconnected from the world. Beautiful beach, that's almost private with only 4 bungalows and the occasional day trippers. Nak our host was amazing; so helpful and accomodating. We spent 3 days swimming, relaxing, sunbathing, eating great food and wading into the sea at night to see the bioluminescent plankton. One of the best beach stays I've ever had.

Very hot night and many, many very determined mosquitos!

We loved Nak's happy, friendly and forthcoming personality. Nothing was a problem! There was no aircon, it is a shack after all! So very muggy at night and mosquito net (supplied) was an absolute must.

Not much, it is very basic but that’s the whole point of going there - expect some creepy crawlies at some point during your visit.

Fantastic location on an almost private beach, some day trippers in the afternoon but just guests about in the mornings and evenings. Nak was a very helpful host throughout and also booked our next ferry for us whilst on the island. Amazing to see the plankton at night, other hostels on the island charge a fee but at Nak’s it’s on your doorstep.

For us it was not a problem to take a shower with the bucket. The only problem is the quality of the water, which doesn't seem to be great. But of course, there is not so much to do about. Maybe a periodic cleaning of the water containers could help.

The shacks are basic but comfortable. The location is amazing, just in front of the beach. The veranda with an outside bed and a hammock is beautiful. Nak is a great guy and Nana an excellent cook.

If you're looking for quiet places, make sure you stay weekdays, locals like that beach (for day trips) and it could get noisier during weekends; but you can walk to other places of the island to continue enjoying your closeness to nature during those days. Another is that walking away along the beach from the bungalows there is rubish; but you can have a beach clean activity, or have plastic bottle art moment!

Such a special island! Nak is always making sure you are having a pleasent stay. He organised my pick up from mainland and  my return to Sikhanukville. Their Khamer food was really tasty! You can walk on forest tracks to have western food in other spots on the island (there is no roads, which is amaaazing!) You have a proper toilet that flushes well (refill the tank with a bucket) and good quality toilet paper. Matresses are comfortable and the beach close to the bungalows is kept clean. Take snorkelling gear, repellent, do not keep food in your bungalow, and enjoy living simple and peacefully; its only 4 bungalows so its really quiet!

We stayed in three of the different resorts on this island and in our view Nak’s shack is by far the best! The five simple cabins have a tremendous charm. Each of them are well separated from one another and front directly onto the beach, which is a beautiful stretch of sand, with fantastic sunset views and luminescent plankton in the sea at night. Nak is a great host and went out of his way to look after us and to make everything comfortable for us. His girlfriend cooks delicious food and whilst the beach can have visitors in the day, by three or four in the afternoon and until about 10 or 11 in the morning it’s incredibly quiet and peaceful and gives you the ultimate in desert island pleasure! You can choose to sleep on the double bed inside the cabin or in the one outside on the deck, each have mosquito nets and there is also a hammock with each cabin. We absolutely loved our time here!

The only bad thing was leaving the island. We had great time there and we would have loved to stay longer.

A very peaceful place with amazing people. We really enjoy our shack right in front of the beach. We had one bed inside the shack and another bed on the balcony. We always slept in the one outside, sleeping with the sound of the waves and waking up with a beautiful sea view was magical. People working there were great and very helpful with everything.

Bathroom could be improved. Basic drink choices, no cocktails. No snorkeling material available despite the Web site mentioning it.

The location is fantastic, the shack is basic but you know what you're in for before you get there. I loved the outside bed on the porch, nothing to spoil the view and listening to the sea waves and looking at the moon reflecting the sea at night from your bed was just magical. If you like getting back to basics and are looking for a peaceful and quiet place, Nak Shacks is the place to go. Nak is just lovely and very helpful, ensuring his guests are happy at all times and speaks great English. I recommend.

An authentic Cambodian guesthouse ran and owned by a very charming guy (Nak) and his lovely crew. The bungalows and restaurant have suffered from Covid and tourism to Cambodia being very limited quite a bit. Nak and his team did a good job bringing the place back to life and have a good vibe going again. An island still wild and unspoiled with the beach to yourself right in front of your hut - not much more I needed. Shower is coming from the bucket & you sleep on an outdoor balcony bed, waking up with the calm ocean just there to have a relaxed start into the day.

While I understand goods are limited on the island, the room fee seemed rather high to stay in a room with just three hours of electricity and no running water. The ceilings are in need of repair, as during rainstorms, the water would drip onto the bed. Unfortunately, the beach is covered with trash -- other beaches in different parts of the island weren't nearly this dirty.

The owner of the location is a great guy, who speaks perfect English, and it's always a joy to hang out with him and shoot the breeze. The views are absolutely stunning, with plenty of different spaces to sit on and enjoy the sunset. It's exceptionally quiet, with very few people. The owner's girlfriend is an excellent cook. When I was there, surprisingly, there were close to no mosquitoes -- a welcome relief!
