How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe room was comfortable , good shower
The toilet was plugged, not nice!!! Why the barres on the window??? Always the problem of garbage in the streets!!! Plastic bags should be prohibited, some countries in Africa did it, why not in Asia???
Hi sir , thanks for the stay , we got information about toilet today so we already repaired immediately, and regarding the plastic on the street there is nothing we can do about that because it is from other people’s house, we tried our best to make our place is clean but it needs other People to clean together the make the city is clean

Verified reviewThe room was as described, and as in the pictures. I only needed somewhere to stay before catching a plane the next day, and it was fine for that. There were several places within walking distance to get something to eat
The bed was quite low, and very firm. Probably the hardest I've had in a month. Although they listed providing shampoo and body soap, they only provided shampoo. When I asked, they didn't have soap. Luckily, I was able to find a bar of soap in 1 of the little shops close by

Verified reviewThis place is still as clean, as beautiful and as comfortable as ever. The woman working there is lovely and very helpful. This place is one of my favorites in Sihanoukville and I plan to come back for a few weeks soon. The comfort, the services, the kindness, the cleanliness and the feeling of well-being are more than positive points. 🫶🏻

Verified reviewVery clean room, flexible check in, promptly replies from host, nice lady who let us in. Internet worked well.
The area of the appartment is very littered, it's better to take a tuk tuk for 1-2usd instead of walking.

Verified reviewVery nice, clearly new, big spacious room, shop open late round corner, pool/snooker hall round the corner
Dogs barking late night and early hours, obviously not property fault. The bum gun was quite dirty. Not the best location, 25 mins from pier, not in the main bars/central area but grabs very cheap and easy. Was fine for one night stop before heading to Koh rong but would definitely stay in a different area next time just for personal preference if you want to go out for few drinks food etc.

Verified reviewThe room was quite spacious and clean, there is a long nice beach, once you get to the coast
First of all the location! It was written that it's 20 min walk to the beach! Well if you want to walk through really ugly street full of trash surrounded by skeletons of ruined buildings with slums and squatters, ok. At night is dark and to walk from the city centre to the homestay is really not recommended. Only with motorbike or tuk tuk! There is not mentioned that only few streets from there is red light district with big amount of girls on the streets. I've been leaving in Southeast Asia long time and I am usually not complaining, but this area full of trash is a bit too much. And at the homestay there is no reception, we gave money to some lady who didn't speak English at all without receiving any receipt back. The owner offered us to rent a motorbike, so we counted with it, but later on, she cancelled it. So we spent the next morning trying to rent it in some other rentals, all quite away from the homestay. And I recommend to other visitors to take earplugs with them. All night there is a noise from maybe a water pump? But it was noisy

Verified reviewOverall, it’s a generic hotel room in a homestay, matching the vibe of the city—which is mostly generic buildings and architecture. It delivers what it promises at a great price. The real issue is the city itself, which isn’t very appealing. That said, the room is good and does its job well.
Perhaps a more organized reception would be helpful. I believe the lady managing the building is the caretaker, and she doesn’t speak English—only Khmer. She even expects us to understand Khmer, which makes the interaction quite funny! However, it would be better if the building owner could be there personally to welcome guests and handle the check-in more efficiently. Alternatively, leaving a note with all the necessary information along with the key would make things much clearer and more convenient.
