Mosquitoes….. but mosquitoes are everywhere anywhere on the island and mosquitoes seem to like me a lot and the beds have mosquito nets 👍 so you’re safe from them when sleeping

The Hostel was very nice and If I Had time i would have stayed longer. I came in Low season so there werent a Lot of people which was perfect for me. Nearby ist a Plankton beach where you can swim at night which was one Highlight of my visit in cambodia.

Hate the mosquitos and unfortunately they Loved me. But thats the only Thing that wasnt good and the Spray, mosquito net and incense Sticks really helped.

The biggest compliment I can give, is that I felt like I was at home, not in a hotel/hostel. That is down to the owner, Fred, who is a good person and a fantastic owner, building his business with his customers at the heart of everything. I highly recommend staying at koalama, where you will instantly feel like family.

The atmosphere is amazing in this place. The social area is open and invites you for chilling, playing games, pool, dart… I loved all the plants and being just next to the beach.

I was supposed to stay 3 days, I extend to one week. I came here to chill a little bit after months of traveling non stop and I had exactly what I was looking for. Chill for a fews days while meeting new peoples. I love the common area. It's perfect to chill close to the beach, the chair are so comfortable and the view is amazing. They also have a lot of really good board games so you always have something to do and you never bored. I tried both the dorms and the hammock (not available with booking), it's clean, comfortable you have a fan in the dorms so it's not that hot and the mosquito nets are good. Fred, the owner, is really an amazing person. He always make you feel welcome, always smile and he is always ready to play games with you. I met really good people in my stay here. It's so easy with a common area like this! I really recommend this place, is clearly one of the best hostel I ever stayed.

Koalama is a camping-vibe hostel on the far end left side of M’Pai Bay. I liked the area very much - felt sort of local, with combodian kids playing around on the sand and sea, and family-run restaurants where you can eat proper local food. You can reach other beaches on the island only by boat, or you can stay nearby - there is a Long Beach that I liked much more than Saracen Bay! The hostel room was nice, with a net that was essential during the night. No AC but each bed has a mini fan, but anyway during the night temperature cools off so I had no trouble sleeping. Common spaces are wonderful, with plenty of sittings to relax, play games, read a book. No wifi here, so keep that in mind if you need to do anything on computer! But to be honest - this is place where you should disconnect and enjoy being present. Last bit - the cats. Just lovely.

Bathrooms need a little bit of work and extra care, most of the time there wasn’t toilet paper, and could be cleaned a little bit more.

This was the most amazing place I’ve been to on my travels so far. Koalama felt like home, the place really has a personality and is not just an average hostel. The atmosphere is so nice, with the music changing every day and catching exactly the vibe of the guests. Delicious drinks, fun games, perfect chill out area and most importantly absolutely amazing, likeminded people! Thanks Fred, for making me feel so welcome and creating such a wonderful place. Best place in Cambodia!!

The owner was quite friendly and the hostel has all the basic necessities. The beds have mosquito nets and you get a small ventilator. There also is a small locker for your valuables. The common area offers place to hang out and some games. You can borrow snorkeling equipment for free.

There was construction going on next door, which was pretty noisy. Also there was a smell in the air that got to me even though I don't smell well. Even though the hostel is next to the beach, it is not very inviting to go for a swim here. As mentioned by others, the beds in the dorm don't have curtains and there is not much space to put your bag. The bathroom wasn't dirty, but it sure didn't feel clean either. There was no real hostel vibe while I was there (worth mentioning: I was there only for one night in the off season)

Location is amazing, the social area is super cool and the bungalow is very comfortable and quiet. Fred is very open and welcoming. Also slept one night at the hammock, which was cool, but a bit hot.

Had an amazing stay at Kualama Koh Rong Sanloem! It’s a beachfront hostel! perfect if you’re looking to chill by the beach. The common area is wonderful, I spent most of my time there! Located on a quieter side of the island, everything you need is within walking distance. The rooms are good. Note: there’s a fan for each bed, but at night the weather cools down, so it was totally fine. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a chill, relaxed vibe.

Incredible stay ❤️ I couldn’t speak more highly of this new, beautiful gem in MPay Bay. All the details of the newly-built bungalows are so well done, mosquito net, curtains on every window for privacy, the porch to sit and listen to the waves. Staying in the private bungalows meant that we had complete silence and only nature to listen to in the mornings. The common area in the front is great, spacious, books, games and cold draft beer is available, what more do you need really 😊 So happy to have met Fred, he is really welcoming and friendly. Hope to come back to Koalama soon 🤞🏼

Such a lovely little hostel, great communal area, right on the beach, great staff. Also a perfect sunset spot just behind the hostel. Only bad thing I can think of due to it being an “rustic” style hostel there was lots of mosquitoes but that’s obviously not the hostels fault. Loved it other than that 😊

1000/10, beautiful place, comfy beds with mosquito nets and fans, lovely owner Fred who put all his heart in building this place. Great chill common area on a terrace, most comfortable sofas on the island 😅, great view, palms, snorkeling masks for guests, free water - all you need. Fred, Andre, Thank you guys for everything!!!

What a lovely and peaceful place! Everything is so beautifully designed and decorated, staff is amazing. I immediately felt home. You can easily hang out in the comfy common area many hours and recharge your battery. The owner always has an open ear and a solution for every issue. Thank you so much, Fred! Unforgettable!

Amazing place! I was supposed to stay only 3 nights but then I extended my stay since I was feeling so great there (and I would have happily stayed much longer if I could). The owner is great. The atmosphere is super chill and it's great to make new friends. Just in front of the beach and next to many places where to eat/drink/chill and to the pear where the boats bring the guests to the Island. Close to the planktons beach (snorkeling masks are available). Perfect place! The hammocks are super comfortable too!

No toilet paper in the toilet. For me it's ok but some guests forget it too often and it happens that a toilet may not be accessible sometimes for a few hours.

I’m so glad I booked Koalama! 🙏 The staff instantly made me feel welcome & taken care of. 💛 The vibe is so relaxed & friendly, close enough to everything but quiet at night with the sunset just behind. Despite there being no AC, each bed comes with its own personal fan so it was a comfortable sleeping temperature. There’s always drinking water available, free snorkels, showers / toilets always clean & the most gorgeous fluffy cat Snow to greet you at the start & end of the day. Loved it here 🐨🦙 Thank you Fred!

Nothing against the hostel, but mosquitos are rife on this side of the island. Just come prepared with repellent 🦟
