Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsMeta was a really great host! We got invited to eat with his friends and watch the sunset on the beautiful rice fields. Meta knows a lot about the surroundings and he will help you if you want to do a trip. He also brought us to and from Siem Reap with his tuktuk.

MalaysiaFirstly if you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t where you’re trying to be. This place is in the outskirts of Siem Reap in a village setting. I tell you, here you will find the most authentic Cambodian life experience. The host immersed me into different experiences from sharing canned beers with his neighbors, we had Karaoke night which was just mind blowing. I even got invited to a local celebration of the ancestors where I met very welcoming and warm people. I could never ever forget the love I was welcomed with here. Meta is just a super host, period. He knows how to engage his guests and give you the ultimate out of city experience. I stayed 3 nights and almost did a 4th though I had to leave. The room charges were extremely affordable however the hut I stayed in offered a ceiling fan and the heat didn’t have any mercy on me. Some bugs at night but room comes with a mosquito net and Meta gave me some repellent to burn to chase the bugs away. As a solo female traveler I also did feel safe and I felt like the dogs at the home were literally protecting me, sleeping outside my door at night and walking away once it was morning. I just enjoyed and loved loved my experience here. If you’re not about comfort of stay and about good vibes and people around you, I highly recommend this home stay!

United StatesI liked the rustic, jungle accommodations. Not is the noise of the city but not to far to go in for a nice meal. Easy to visit the temples for a day trip.
The host family for this Homestay really make it! They are helpful, kind and accommodate whatever you need for a great value. If you stay here you know you will be taken care of and you are supporting a local family! Definitely go for it if you are looking for a quiet place to stay with lots of local charm!

NetherlandsThe bungalow was so cute and had everything we needed, the location is outside of the chaotic centre which was really nice, it felt like we were in the jungle while still not too far from everything. We rented a motorbike from the homestay which was perfect because the roads felt really safe to drive on. The owner really made us feel like home, he invited us to drink with his friends, he made us taste the local food and even invited us to a wedding of his cousin!! Can't recommend this place enough, it was definitely a highlight of our trip in Cambodia! Btw there's lots of sweet doggies, mango's everywhere that you can eat and even a parrot

BelgiumStaying with Mister Meta and his family was an unforgettable experience — this is not just accommodation, it's a true immersion into the heart of local Cambodia. You can't get more local than this — you're welcomed into the family as if you've known them for years. Mister Meta's wife was incredibly kind and helped us repair our clothes without hesitation. We even ended up buying beautifully hand-made, custom-fit trousers from her — crafted with care and skill. What made it even more meaningful is knowing that every dollar goes directly to support the family. Mister Meta has an impressive knowledge of the area and went above and beyond to help us plan our days, offering thoughtful suggestions and even assisting with booking tickets. Nothing is too much to ask — he’s always ready to help with a smile. We were invited to join family outings, shared freshly cooked meals every day (seriously fresh and delicious!), and felt safe, respected, and truly at home. The prices are more than fair — especially considering the warmth, attention, and authenticity you receive in return. Thanks to them, we didn’t just visit Cambodia — we lived it.

This homestay was exactly what you'd expect from a true local stay—simple, but clean and comfortable. What made it special wasn’t the room, but the warmth of the host. He went above and beyond by inviting us to join his family’s Songkran celebration. It wasn’t a touristy show, it was the real thing—authentic, fun, and full of heart. If you're looking for genuine local experiences and don't mind skipping the hotel luxuries, this place delivers memories money can't buy.

FranceThe only annoyance: it is the wedding season, so there are quite noisy parties all over the countryside.
I enjoyed my 3 nights here a lot. The owner was caring, helpful and attentive. I found the place amazing, with the garden, the trees, the huge roots, the mango fruits, geckos, birds, ... And the community, family, workers, village atmosphere. I had dinner served on the balcony, so great.

GermanyMeta is a great host. He also organizes tours around the area and to Angkor Wat. He has a bike and a scooter that you can rent. The family cooked a lovely dinner for me. Chatting with him was quite interesting. He is always there to help with information. Although the place is not directly in Siem Reap, it does not feel disconnected. It is therefore quite calm and relaxed. Meta has a lovely bar just round the corner where we met some locals and travellers to spend time with. It is also easy to get to Angkor Wat from the place. I enjoyed a lot my stay and if I go to visit the area again, this is for sure my address to go for.

The area is a little out of the city which was just what we needed, we were able to rent a scooter whilst there to explore the nearby villages but he also offered a tuk tuk tour as well! Hot food was prepared for if wanted and water, coffee all available. Also there were puppies!! New ZealandMeta was a kind host who was helpful as I was unfortunately unwell for my entire stay so he was able to get some bananas for me, he was great at organising tuktuks and took us for a drive multiple times himself. The room was basic but everything that was needed, it was also clean and tidy. Considering the drive from the city appeared far it wasn’t difficult to go into town and back easily and did not take long at all.

PolandStaying at the Kakrona Pouk Homestay was an unforgettable way to experience the beauty of Cambodia and its countryside culture. I loved immersing myself in their daily routines and witnessing their way of life up close. From being close with nature, exploring Angkor Wat, visiting local school, attending a Cambodian birthday party to visiting the silk farm, driving around, seeing crocodiles, and enjoying delicious local food, every moment was special. Choosing this place was the best decision, as the kindness and generosity of the people I met truly made my journey incredible. Waking up in a bungalow surrounded by rice fields to breathtaking sunrises and ending the day with stunning sunsets are memories that will stay with me forever. Thank you, Meta, and your wonderful family for sharing everything with me—I’ll definitely be back soon!

GermanyWe stayed in the delux double room and the delux two bed room. Although it's delux, it is pretty basic. The AC is very old, and there is a lot of mould on the ceilings in the bed room and bathroom.
Super friendly owner who told us a lot about the Khmer history. We didn't hire him as driver to get around Ankor as we hired motorbikes, however I am sure you can learn a lot from him when you do hire him! On the day of our arrival he brought us to a rice field to watch the sunset which was very beautiful. And his wife prepared a very delicious dinner for us on the evening. It was my mum's birthday on the second day and he organised a birthday cake which was very nice of him. The rooms were basic although it says delux room (there is warm water and AC). The owner has a lot of cool old stuff in the room which was very interesting. The place is around 30min out of town. We really liked the location as it was very quiet and far away from the busy town.

RussiaIt's a middle of a village, so the inside is a bit village vibe. But I liked it too. Just good to know before you come.
I’ve been staying here for three weeks now, and every moment has been filled with joy and tranquility. There are many interesting places nearby, such as a crocodile farm, a silk factory, and floating villages with fisherman families who offer boat tours. The hosts are incredibly friendly and attentive, fulfilling your wishes even before you voice them. Of course, the nearby Angkor Wat ruins are the main reason I came here. The host not only took me around all the ruins, showing me the most beautiful spots and giving tips on places I could explore on my own, but he also took plenty of amazing photos and videos for my channel, creating beautiful content. Within walking distance, there are several cozy cafes where you can enjoy delicious meals, or simply sit and work in the comfort of air conditioning with a cup of coffee or a smoothie. If you’re in the mood for simple, budget-friendly local food, the hosts are always ready to cook up a generous portion of hearty Cambodian dishes. While there isn’t a special menu, you can request something specific, but I enjoyed leaving the choice to the hosts. Every day, they surprised me with something new and unique from the local cuisine. The homestay is surrounded by a beautiful garden, making it the perfect place for meditation, solitude, and admiring the pristine beauty combined with the simplicity of rural life. The sunsets over the fields are stunning and will forever remain in my memory. The hostess of the homestay sewed me special white clothing in her home sewing workshop, and that very evening, I found myself meditating in a local temple to the chants of Buddhist monks. She also helped me sew dresses to my specifications, making the experience even more personal and special. The host organized the meditation in the temple, making the experience even more unforgettable.

Kakrona Pouk Homestay in Siem Reap left a deep impression on me, more than I could have ever anticipated. From the moment I arrived, Meta, the incredible host, welcomed me into his world with such warmth and sincerity that I almost forgot I was a guest. He wasn’t just a host—he was family, a friend, and a guide all wrapped into one. Meta took care of everything, anticipating every need with such ease and genuine care that I felt more at home than I ever thought possible while traveling. Meta became not only the cook, tuk-tuk driver, and guide but also my personal photographer and bike companion. His incredible kindness made every day feel like an adventure with an old friend. Whether it was sharing stories about the local culture or biking through the peaceful countryside, his presence was always comforting and full of life. It was more than just a stay—it was an experience woven with heartfelt moments. Meta’s dedication to making everyone feel welcome, introducing me to his family and friends, and sharing the beauty of Cambodia made it even harder to leave. Saying goodbye felt like leaving behind a piece of my heart. This homestay will forever remain one of the most touching experiences I’ve had, thanks to Meta’s boundless hospitality and the deep connections he helped create. I can’t wait to return.
