Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMara River Camp completely blew us away. From the second we arrived, it just felt special. We were welcomed with hot towels, drinks, a fire already crackling, and comfy chairs set up so we could sit and take it all in – hippos grunting in the river, crocs slipping through the water, even a tiny dik-dik scampering past. Total safari soundtrack. Someone even came over just to check the fire was perfect. That kind of care and thoughtfulness carried through the whole stay – nothing felt rushed, nothing was too much. The staff were genuinely lovely people – friendly, funny, and open to proper conversations, not just polite nods. Dinner that night? Incredible. Cooked for us and genuinely delicious. We came back to our tent to find the bed turned down, a little chocolate on the pillow, and a hot water bottle tucked in like some cosy magic spell. The small touches were everywhere – great toiletries, proper drinking water, everything super clean and well-kept. Sitting out on the terrace at night, hearing the sounds of the bush, feeling totally immersed but also completely comfortable – it’s a feeling we’ll never forget. It felt like we were in the wild, but also completely looked after. They even made us packed lunches for our game drives, and when we got back? “Would you like coffee and cake by the fire?” Yes. Always yes. Followed by wine, snacks, more amazing food, and good company. It just kept getting better. Then the Maasai came and did a traditional dance around the fire – not a cheesy tourist thing, but something genuinely joyful. They got us up to dance and it ended in that rare feeling that you’re part of something. Honestly, we didn’t want to leave. It wasn’t just a nice stay – it was the kind of experience that sticks with you. Proper memories. Special people. A beautiful place that feels like home. Unreal. Couldn't recommend it more.

The location on the river was idyllic. Saw Hippo, crocs, Zebra, Giraffe, Mongoose, Gennet, Waterbuck and bushbabys either in the grounds itself or from the restaurant across the river! The staff were lovely and so attentive. The food was excellent. Pessi the guide was outstanding. Paying per game drive rather than all inclusive.

United Arab EmiratesThe tent tends to cool down late at night and the lack of a room heater is a short coming!
The staff at the camp are great and very responsive to any need of your including food drinks and medication when we needed it! The Manager Eziekel, Aliche at the head office were outstanding in helping us make multiple changes to our Itinerary! The food was top class Indian and continental cuisine, the tents were comfortable with a hot pressure shower in the mornings and evenings an invaluable luxury in the bush!

GermanyWe had a great time at Mara River Camp and I can wholeheartedly recommend staying here. The camp has luxurious tents right on the Mara River - hippos, crocodiles and giraffes - to name just a few - can be observed right from your own terrace. But the really special thing about this camp is the dedicated and friendly team! I have never felt as welcome in an accommodation as I did at Mara River Camp - Joseph in particular is one that you can't help but fall in love with straight away. But the whole team is simply great and is redefining hospitality. The food and the first-class game drives complete this perfect experience. We'll definitely be back! Thank you for this indescribable experience!

A fantastic safari camp in an absolutely beautiful location, definitely 5*! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and feel more like family! The food is exceptional, and the safari tents are very well appointed, with large comfy beds, and an outside terrace for sitting and watching all the wildlife. The camp is situated on the banks of the Mara River, with so much wildlife all around you, on possibly the most beautiful location along the river. While we were staying we even saw a baby hippo being born! Zebras, mongoose, and vervet monkeys wander through the camp, and across the river elephant, impala and giraffe walk through, and the river is full of wallowing hippos. At night multitudes of weaver birds and storks fly in to roost while you are having your sundowners! There is a lovely clean swimming pool, in a pretty location - great for relaxing with a cool beer! The location of Mara River Camp is also very convenient - with both the gates to the Maasai Mara National Park just a short drive away. We would thoroughly recommend this camp, we had a wonderful and memorable stay here for 3 days, and it's fantastic value for money!
