Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KenyaNo kitchen in the premises.
The location is exceptional for anyone exploring the sceneries at the south coast of Kenya. The attendants are really good. Rama is very helpful, he would do great exploits if he starts planning itineraries for the guests. The garden walk and products, excquisite.

New ZealandFriendly, sweet natured dogs live on the property.. I hope the owner gets them treated for ticks. (Evidence of unsightly bites and possible infection)
We are budget travellers and this place is cheap compared with others nearby. The accommodation here is plain but there is a fan in the bedroom and plenty of room. We enjoyed our little porch The location is beautiful, under mature mango spreading trees with a clear view of the sea. Swim inside the reef at high tide. Nice breakfast (eggs, fruit, Swahili coconut buns - mandazi) sitting in the little restaurant with that beautiful view ! Easy to get there from the main road on the back of a Moto or on a tuktuk

Dogs and cats that bothered when we ate Serves dinner if you want but there are not really many options and there is only one price (1200 kes per person)

SpainOnly beach pollution
Hospitality by Rama has been more than exceptional, including the communication. We went for an excursion to Funzi for a reasonable price and Rama was with us all the time. Food was abundant and delicious both at breakfast and dinner (this one not included). The place is really relaxing, far from the chaos of other turisitic places. The beach is not comparable to Diani and it's also more dirty, but you can't have it all... The dogs are super lovable and they are not allowed in the common areas. They could improve their hygiene for the health of everyone, since they have some ticks, but Rama ensured us that he was gonna treat them. Anyway, we have felt safe all the time, since they have gone with us during all our walks.

SwitzerlandToo many dogs and cats in the dining room. Some times the dogs snd the cats were struggling and one old guest didn't see the cat laying beside the and marched on it and the cat scratched him. These animals have to learn, that the guests have priority during lunch and dining time.
The familiarity and daily planning of the activities, lunch and dinner. The meals were very rich an equilibrated. During the 5 days we enjoyed every day another meal for lunch and dinner.

GermanyVery friendly and welcoming staff in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The bungalow had a cosy terrace with sea views and the garden was beautiful, overlooking the sea. Access to the beach is easy. The food was exceptional and varied. We enjoyed being in a rather remote region with not a lot of tourism and long beaches.

Germanyit's not Diani Beach, so it's some drive away if you would like to have some evening entertainment or choose of restaurants. Road to getting there is bumpy, but manageable. There wasn't anything I really didn't like ... well, maybe the shower. But it's Kenya: Nice, relaxed people, heat, pole pole (= relaxed slowlyness ... so is the WiFi :-)
location is good, overlooking the beach, access to the beach is conveniently possible within a 3 minutes walk. The staff is very, very friendly and the dinner (extra 1.200 KES/person) was excellent. The local mosque can be heard, but it is so far away that it can be taken as "background noise" at 04:45 in the morning. So this i's really no problem - compared to many other places I know in Kenya.

NetherlandsI really was disappointed with the stuff, they were literally not present, unmotivatrd and unwilling especially when the owner was not around The worse for me in my years of travel. The cottages were very warm at night with no fern available.
I liked the location very much. Located next to the beach. The cottages were nice with comfortable beds.

EstoniaThe beach is very close to the lodge, around 5 minutes down the stairs, but this place doesn't have many tourists, so the beach is quite dirty, the water and send have a lot of rocks, seaweed, and even glass( Also it's a village, so there is not much to do, and not much to buy, there are no cafes nor restaurants. And since you are almost the only tourist in the city if locals want to sell something, they will be very persistent( + to that the locals don't greet you when they see you, don't smile like it happened in other villages in Kenya, so we felt a bit awkward and in the beginning thought something was wrong about us, we didn't feel welcomed. At night it's quiet and soundless, so when one night somebody was walking around our bungalow and shining a flashlight in the windows, remembering we didn't feel welcomed in the village when we went shopping, we got a bit scared) Also, a big minus was a terrible internet connection.
It's a peaceful place not far away from the ocean. In the morning you can swim on the beach (when you go to the beach, turn left and go to the rocks, there is the best swimming spot without rocks and dirt in the water), during the day you can relax in the hammock or on the sofa outside the bungalow, the garden is chill even when it's really hot outside, just be careful with your bananas, monkeys are eager to steal them, and at night you can enjoy amazing sounds of the ocean)

SpainThe shower overheated. We couldn't have very warm showers. But I think it could easily be fixed
Untouched place, far from the crowds. A really peaceful village, you can sense "good vibrations". It felt really safe, with nice people. The food is really good, at a price of 900 Ksh per person (every hotel seems to have it for around the same price...). The pictures in booking don't do justice to the place. It's better than it looks on the internet. In front of the beach, 1 min by foot. Definitely coming back if we have the opportunity.

Tle location along the coast, far from city centers, but not too far from Diani and Shimon for outdoor activities : beach, swimming in the ocean, diving on coral reef, boat-safari in mangrove, good restaurant for lunch... The monkeys at morning, the garden and the mango trees... And the last, people at Lodge: Rama, Mwanasiti, Aliman and the young boy.

CroatiaAlthough this is a budget accommodation, there is plenty of room for improvement. The bathroom was a disaster - the water pressure in the shower was non-existent, the toilet was leaking water all around. There were lots of insects especially all kinds of ants in our room and bathroom. The wifi didn't work at all in our room. Very dim lights in the room making it hard to see in the evenings. The kitchen that the staff prepared the food in was very dirty and messy. The day trip to the Marine National Park organized by the staff was a complete fiasco and we felt cheated and ripped off, though Rama tried his best to salvage the situation afterwards. After informing the owner, Rashim, about this situation, he told us that they had been having some problems with this trip organizer before, so not sure why they still do business with him - it makes the property look bad and the guests feel cheated. The very poor condition of the cats, kittens and dogs on the property made us very sad and we fed them as much as possible during the 5 days we were there. We wish the staff would feed them regularly. The poor dog on a chain tied to a tree was a very sad sight. You definitely need a car if staying here as there is nothing within walking distance. What we had expected to be a relaxing 5 days away from the hustle and bustle turned out to be a very stressful and disappointing experience and we could hardly wait to leave. We really hope things change for the better in the future because this could be a really great property with so much potential!
The property has a lot of potential with a beautiful garden and flora. The view of the ocean is also beautiful. Peaceful and quiet. The staff, especially Rama, try hard to accommodate guests and the dinners were very good. The mango juice was lovely. The wild monkeys were fun to watch jumping around in the mango trees. 5 minute walk to the beach, which is unfortunately quite dirty with trash everywhere.

TanzaniaWe liked everything. Only one advice: to write on your booking page to pay CASH. we thought to have payed online because its not explained.
Breakfast very good, and every day they change something: base is very good coffee, fruit, honey jam, milk, and one day you have beans cooked in coconut sauce, another day chapati or omelettes, then toasts or sweet rice balls, something typical swahili and we enjoyed a lot. Location is special! Beach just there and a wonderful tropical garden behind. No noise, only birds and peace. No moskitos!!!!
