Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalEverything was great, we just wish the kitchen would close a bit later at night, it would be nice to have the flexibility to order food from the restaurant later on while on a beach holiday.
The staff at the reception and at the restaurant were absolutely great. The location is amazing, beachfront, in what I personally think it's the most beautiful beach in the area. The room was very spacious and it had a large terrace with a beautiful ocean view. The food and cocktails were great. We will definitely be back.

LuxembourgThe window frame of my room needed some fixture but nothing serious. Bathroom equipment a bit outdated.
Great staff always helpful and smiling. Great breakfast menu (especially the Turkish style poached eggs!) Premium location on what is according to me the nicest beach in Diani. Top seaview. Big room with terrace.

PortugalThere seem to be groups who are above any rules. We suffered from loud music on our last night. Turned down and then up again. Complete failure by the staff, especially for us who were leaving at 6am
Great location for amenities, but you don’t actually need to leave.

NetherlandsThe WiFi can be a bit unreliable and the pools are quite small, but with the ocean just steps away, you likely won’t miss them anyways.
The staff is exceptionally welcoming, the breakfast is delightful, and the rooms are spotlessly clean.

United KingdomThe only thing I would say is that the property could use a bit of freshing up decorating wise, but nothing that took away from the whole experience

United KingdomThe Wifi is not good - it's weak and unpredictable.
The location is outstanding - all the hotel rooms face the Indian Ocean and the hotel itself next to miles of pristine white sand beach. The staff are very friendly indeed and are keen to help in any way.

Ethiopiawifi requires upgrading. Breakfast a bit boring. The place afford to be a bit creative to provide different choices on different days, especially for those people staying more than couple of days. Restaurant service is slow and kitchen needs more staff to respond to demand.
Beach is fabulous! clean and the water temperature was to my liking. Staff are wonderful though the owners are not engaging. Breakfast is ok

AustraliaThe hotel is a bit run-down, with some parts of the exterior needing a paint-job, but the room was lovely.
We loved our spacious room at Blue Marlin, with its amazing view of the ocean! The hotel is right next to the beach and we had breakfast overlooking the sea every day. The staff were very kind and helpful. They organized a snorkeling trip for us to Wasini Island and Kisite Marine Park, which was incredible. We also visited the lovely Colobus Conservation Centre in Diani Beach, which is just a few minutes walk from the hotel. The Blue Marlin is a small, family-friendly hotel, and we recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay.

NetherlandsSome what of a pre-authorisation step on your credit card? This is not used to pay the bill at the restaurant, as reception says. So, the advice is that you do 5 USD.

SwedenIt feels like owners have lost interest in maintenance so it unfortunately is starting to feel run down and not kept after. It is till a very nice place but in comparison with the price tag it feels out dated and not as well kept as other hotels in similar price range
Very relaxed atmosphere with a surfer vibe, very friendly staff, good food and excellent location with kite center at beatiful section of the beach

Germany- there wasn't anything directly around the hotel. So you will need a taxi to get there or get away. - wifi was not very stable
- room was great, including mosquito net, large balcony and view on sea. - nice restaurant/beach bar - sunbeds were available on the premise. To the beach you need to go down a few stairs. - beach was very clean and good to swim. - the hotel is like most premises there fenced off with a security guard. - it is a 10min ride to the Diani Airport, from where you can take a flight to Nairobi

SwedenThe hotel felt a bit run down and the pool was miniature in a strange location. The food could be better especially for the price.
Amazing beachfront location. Both restaurant and loungers are right on the seaside. You can hear the waves from you bed while sleeping. The staff were amazingly kind and friendly and really made the experience great. Next door is the Salty Squid Restaurant which good food and a restaurant set back from the beach if it’s too windy.

United KingdomThe building seemed unfinished in many places and overall needed a fresh coat of paint. The grounds not facing the beach were also a bit disheveled / could use some gardening and tending to. The rooms were okay. Normally I wouldn’t mind this - but for the price we paid, these things matter

TurkeyI did notice that some items on the menu a bit dated. For instance, the hamburger didn’t taste very good, possibly due to it being off-season when we visited. This was a minor drawback in an otherwise enjoyable dining experience. I wish the staff had warned us about it beforehand.
Upon arrival, the check-in process was quick, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, which set a positive tone for the rest of my stay. Our room was spacious and clean, with a stunning beach view that was truly amazing. The amenities included a comfortable bed, sofa at the balcony, Wi-Fi, and free water bottles that were replenished daily. One highlight was the daily towel change, which kept everything fresh and comfortable. The sunbeds within the hotel compound were a great touch, keeping beach boys at bay and providing a more private and relaxing beach experience. The breakfast options were exceptional, offering a better experience than typical open buffet hotels. The variety and quality of the food were good we enjoyed the seafood dishes served during lunch and dinner. The mojitos were also a standout. Our waiters, Klara and another gentleman whose name I unfortunately forgot, were fantastic, providing excellent service throughout our meals. The staff were consistently helpful and courteous. Both my wife and I had massages at the hotel’s spa, and the experience was wonderfully relaxing and rejuvenating. The surrounding area felt safe and pleasant, making it easy to enjoy our time both at the hotel and exploring nearby attractions. We will definitely visit again.

ItalyI paid 1400 usd to stay for 7 nights, plus extra to eat everyday in the hotel's restuarant, asked for 1 hour late check-out and was denied it. That got me really pissed off. The shower inside the toilet had no division with the rest of the toilet, so every time I took a shower, the full toilet floor was completely wet. The beach beds have no parasols. That can be annoying until midday when except for 2 seats under the palms, the rest don't have any sun protection
The hotel has one of the best beach front views and locations in all the beach. The colour of the sand is paper-white, fantastic view. The restaurant lies also next to the sea literally. The restaurant and beach staff was extremely friendly and the food delicious. The room had a super nice balcony overlooking directly into the sea, with occasional monkey visits. Good wifi and good air-conditioning.
