How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewGood day to all! We stayed in this wonderful house for 3 days. This is a great place to get away from the crazy rhythm of big cities. We were given 2 large rooms for 4 guests. The owner was extremely polite, tactful, kindly received us, met us at the nearest station. Upon arrival, we were fed to our fill with traditional Japanese food. The owner explained to us all the intricacies and rules of eating. For me, a trip to Mount Fuji is a childhood dream. It felt like I came to my grandfather in the village. We tried to help owner, although we were not obliged to. My wife and child helped set the table, I helped wash the dishes. We also met another guest, with whom we quickly found a common language, since everyone who comes to this place is looking for what they will find here. Having rested, we continue our journey through Japan further, after which we will return to Russia with amazing memories and new acquaintances. Thank you, with respect, Denis and his family!

Verified reviewItaru-san was very helpfull! We had problems with our rental car and he helped us immediatly. Standard room. Location is very peacefull and quiet. He cooked a wonderfull dinner and we had a very nice evening with other guests. In the morning again a very large choice in typical Japanese breakfast. If you want to know what traditional Japan looks like, come here!

Verified reviewThis was my best stay in the whole 3 weeks away in Japan and Korea. Itaru was a marvellous host who cooked beautiful traditional Japanese breakfast and supper for his guests and taught us a little about japanese eating. We ate in a communal kitchen/dining room/lounge, which was a really friendly relaxing environment. Being a lone traveller, I enjoyed meeting and sharing experiences with the other guests. My room was traditional and perfect for me. Itaru was incredible helpful
Shower needs refurbishment. it functioned perfectly well but a couple of missing tiles needed sorting out.

Verified reviewIt had a very friendly atmosphere, the best of all the places I stayed at during my 3 week holiday touring Japan. The food that Itaru cooked for his guests was a major highlight and the surrounding area was a bit of Japan I loved seeing.
Bathroom and toilet downstairs seemed a bit tired but perfectly functional.

Verified reviewHomecooked food by the owner was very yummy 😋 house considered very spacious as compared to other places we stayed. Room is very spacious. Shared bathroom. However it is not very convenient for family with kids to stay there, as we can't really walk much from places to places. But if you come without kids, can rent bicycle from the owner to cycle around and explore freely. Owner helped us by fetching us to and from lake and the Makaino Farm. We don't eat breakfast usually, but luckily we get to try breakfast prepared by the owner too ♥️ we relaxed and chilled here before moving to another place 😉

Verified reviewIt was a beautiful environment, an authentic and real Japanese house, and what I liked most is the communication, helpfulness, kindness and the company of Itaru. He cooked an amazing dinner for us and it was the first time I didn’t feel like a tourist but like part of the daily life of locals there. It was perfect.

Verified reviewHost was exceptionally attentive to our needs and facilitated not only our plans in the surrounding area during our stay, but also for our dietary restrictions and got us to a local onsen and exceptional craft brewery. Home is within walking distance of a great cafe (Lotus Land). Nice to see Mt. Fuji mountain view and greenery.2

Verified reviewStaying at Yunonouchi was one of the most unforgettable experiences during our time in Fujinomiya. The homeowner, Mr. Itaru, greeted us warmly and with great hospitality. He provided excellent service throughout our stay. Mr. Itaru went above and beyond in hosting his guests. He picked us up from the station, cooked us incredibly delicious meals, and even offered a bicycle rental service. Although access to some tourist cities required traveling by bicycle or car, the views around the accommodation were absolutely stunning.
Things to be improved in the guesthouse: cleanliness in the toilet and bathroom.

Verified reviewThe host, Itaru, was friendly, helpful, and an interesting person. His English is very good and we had a long conversation about a lot of topics, from music to history. For a small extra fee he cooked an amazing breakfast and dinner for us and for another very reasonable fee, he picked us up at the train station and gave us a small tour of a few attractions. (We were the only guests that night, I don't know if he always has time to be a tour guide, but it was much appreciated!) The area is quiet and peaceful, especially early in the morning, and with a bit of a walk it was easy to find good views of Mt Fuji. The house was air conditioned, which was much appreciated in late July. たのしかったです!
For some people, it might be a little remote from shopping and restaurants. This was not a problem at all for us, since we were looking to relax on the last day of a very busy trip, and Itaru's cooking is honestly better than restaurant food. There is a bus stop directly across the street that can take you into town.

Verified reviewthe owner cooked a meal it was very nice
However I think the exterior and the entranceway area and the bathroom are not up to standard. even though the owner is very friendly I feel that he is not diligent about keeping it up to the standard of and rented accommodation. I feel it if he improves in this area his ranking will be very high

Verified reviewThe host, Itaru, is an incredibly good cook, the best meals I have had since I've been in Japan so far. I tried Natto for the first time here. He also took me to an Onsen (Hot Spring), which I'd never been to before, and he also taught me some Japanese upon my request. He was very accommodating and welcoming.
The area doesn't have much in the way of conveniences. This is a very rural part of Japan, so there's not many convenience stores, and not much public transport. You will be dependent on Itaru to take you places. If you're the kind of person that wants to go out and come back as you please, and have access to all kinds of services, this is not the type of accommodation you are looking for.

Verified reviewItaru(the host) was so welcoming and helpful through our stay. He is glad to drop you off at locations and he picked us up from the station when we first arrived. The location is very remote with few things in walking distance. He does provide 2 rentable bikes for a day. By far the best thing was his cooking, even though he claims he is not a chef, I have no doubt that his meals will be among the best I will have in my 3 week stay of Japan. The environment felt so homely with 2 other guests at the house also but you have enough privacy if you are more introverted. At dinner and breakfast it is a shared meal between all guests and I found there was always enough food and if not then Itaru prepares more before you run out. We were lucky to have shared the house with a very kind Italian couple who were vegan, if you have dietary requirement then Itaru does his best to ensure they are met, while also accommodating other guest’s diets such as if you like meat but other guests are vegan, he ensures no one is left out.
The house was clean in all the places that matter, all I could say was that the house is a little tired if you look around but that is to be expected as Itaru is running a one man business. He did mention about planning to hire a volunteer to ease the load and strain on himself, so hopefully that will in the future mean that he can be more attentive to the house in the less looked at areas. But by no means a big issue at all. If you haven’t slept on futons before you may have a couple aches in the morning and the pillows I had to fold to make comfortable enough to sleep. Again not a negative but a feature that I was not accustomed to after being used to sleep in a nice mattress at home.

Verified reviewItaru san was very nice bringing us to a nearby onsen and his food was amazing! The surrounding area is very peaceful and quiet. We were lucky to be able to see fujisan clearly! He also took us to a nearby Cafe which was beautiful. He took us to the station after as well, he is an amazing hardworking guy that shared hie story with us. This has been the most authentic Japanese experience we've had while being in Japan. Thank you Itaru San, we will come again.

Verified reviewItaru-san gave very precise information on how to get there using different means of transport. He made an awesome dinner as well as breakfast! A spacious room with fully tatami floors. Before dropping me off at the station, he took me to a few amazingly beautiful places, the waterfalls as well as the green tea plantation! truly magnificent with Mt Fuji always in the background! Would definitely recommend! Thank you very much for giving me a very local experience of Japan!!

Verified reviewThe food was very good, and the surroundings are really nice, great to have a bike ride (try to take the one that have brakes tho…) The host took us by car to nice places around ! My room was great, japanese-style with window on the garden.
The place was so dirty… I feel it hasn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. I was disgusted when using the toilets and the bathroom, the floors were sticky, my bed linen smelled like humidity… For me this is not okay to host people and make them pay for a house that isn’t properly clean ! :( There were even coackraoches… That’s too bad, because otherwise the place has great vibes, and a lot of potential. But I wouldn’t recommend or go back for this reason…
