The photos dont do the rooms justice. It's nicer than on the photos. Staff were very keen to help even though we can't really understand japanese and needed to use the translator app to communicate. Onsen is clean and not crowded when we went so we have the whole place to ourselves. The dinner is fantastic! And there are also free drinks available to guests during the day at the lobby lounge.

Onsen pools are not very big

If you go West there are Yahiko Shrine which is great place to visit. You can hire electric bcycle to move around. Iwamuroya is centre which sells local foods and hire bicycle.

There’s not much public transport. Unless you have a car hard to look around the areas. The hotel getting run down and needs renewal or make over.

A very old school japanese onsen spa resort - loved the step back in time and the onsen baths were FANTASTIC!!! The staff were really lovely and helpful, and the breakfast was incredible.

It is in quite a remote location/only has some small restaurants nearby and they're only open certain days. If you're arriving later in the afternoon/evening I would STRONGLY recommend booking a rate that includes dinner as you cannot book into the restaurant once you have arrived! This was a little frustrating for us, we went to the locations the staff thought would be open, but they weren't - luckily the ramen bar onsite was open, so when we came back to the hotel we were able to eat there, and the food, drinks and service were awesome! Other point that was a little frustrating was the karaoke room - the prices are steep, you pay for a table + each song you'd like to sing + only had a set drinks menu for 2 hours (ie. couldn't just have one drink and sing a couple of songs).
