Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaRoom is crammed for 4 people. There’s also a specific time slot to use the toilet and shower rooms which is slightly inconvenient, but we understand that it’s to avoid disturbing the guests.
Clean, warm and cosy. The beds are comfortable and the room has floor heating.

CanadaFirst, about the owners: my rental broke down just as I reached the property. They helped me by calling the rental company, then the insurance company, then the tow truck company. I don't speak a word of Japanese and I couldn't get this done without them. That lead me to trying to find a way back. They spent 7 to 8 hours helping me find my route! It's a complicated route that I had (going to kyoto) and they walked me through all of it. They are savvy, know bus routes, and will lend you a hand if need be. Now the property: amazing!! Next to the lake, plenty of parking, clean throughout, cloae to moint fuji. Heated floors were amazing (especially in winte)r. Common areas are functional, and they provide everything you need to make it feel like home. They showed us how to prepare our market bought meals (market is just around the corner). The house is absolutely beautiful. Chances are, you will meet like minded, mature travellers like we did. This was not a frat house. Guests were mature, from all around the world, and I had a great time conversating with the few small groups I came across. The hosts stayed up with us, we all had drinks in the common area, and had good conversation. 10 out of 10, I would recommend it again. I don't usually write lengthy reviews but this review is easily, we'll deserved.

It’s a pretty house with comfortable amenities. The couples are very very helpful and fun loving. They are caring and gives good spaces. It’s 10mins walk to the lake and eateries. Very quite area. There is a fridge, microwave to head up your own food. Complimentary tea, coffee and water. The best thing we loved is it’s away from the city, local experience to stay with Japanese couples and their warm welcoming environment. If you want quite and clean place it’s value for money.

Czech RepublicThe owners were exceptionally nice, always willing to help and pleasant to chat with. The whole pension is nicely designed with great shared space that allows either for remote work, or an opportunity to meet and chat with other people.

BelgiumAMAZING! What really made our stay special were the owners. The couple is incredibly kind and helpful. They communicate fluently using a translation machine into English (or another language of your choice), which worked perfectly! The house was very clean, and their enthusiasm for Mount Fuji is contagious. The location is excellent: close to a huge supermarket with both Western and local products. Truly a fantastic supermarket! Also within walking distance are an Alfamart, bike rental, and the lake. On our last evening, we wanted to have a BBQ in the front yard, and the owners arranged it for us. They even joined us for a while, and we had a great time laughing and enjoying each other's company. The owner has a great sense of humor and we felt right at home. These people have hearts of gold and the location is fantastic! Highly recommended. Thank you for everything. We wanted to stay longer, but unfortunately, it was fully booked.

MalaysiaIncredible experience. Maybe the best one yet! We spent the night playing card games with the two owners as well as another guest. Although the owners don't speak English, communication was always easy as they have a device to immediately translate from Japanese to English or any other language and vice versa. They often helped us plan our itinerary for the next day. The beds and comforters were so comfortable and we could see Mount Fuji from our window. There were bathrooms on both floors but the shower rooms are on the first floor so plan your baths carefully. Would love to come again.

JapanAt first it was difficult to find the property. If you’re using google maps, I recommend to look for the Japanese name (ペンションぽうぜ) instead of English, if you are driving. But the lady owner was very kind to fetch us in the nearby grocery store.
The property was really nice very close to the Yamanakako Lake which has one of the best views of Mt. Fuji. In terms of facility, it was complete perfect for someone looking for a stay other than hotel.

New ZealandIt was a great walking distance to the main part of Yamanakako. They charged us extra for the towels not explained before we got there. The only available stuff in the dining room were glasses, cups and saucers, teaspoons and chopsticks.
It was a warm cosy house ,very quiet only a short walk to the lake. The hosts were very friendly and had translation devices to help us communicate. The town was great. do the bike ride around the lake it is not difficult. It took us 3.5 hours going slowly stopping lots for photos and lunch.
