The washing machine didn't work too well, and it was challenging to find place for hanging stuff to dry (no dryer). This is only a minor point, for the price it's great they have a washing machine available at all

Great room size, comfy place especially for what you pay. It's in a quiet neighborhood with the basics around, train connection nearby. Everything is well kept and clean. Highly recommend

The staff is non-existent. You run things yourself. Which is ok, but it wasn't mentioned.

The traditional style of the house and the rooms. And you share the house like hostel. Location is very nice.

Our first night, some guests came in really late at 1:30 AM and was very very loud. The front door is a bit heavy and loud upon opening, but they slammed it open and then shut. They werent whispering, practically yelling when they came in. They then proceeded to try and open our door multiple times and even hitting it a few times. They eventually found themselves to their room (the next room right after ours on the right handside). We belive maybe they were drunk but we didn't see them to confront them as we left early to Miyajima. There were also a few stains on a towel and bedding set. I believe the stain on the towel came from the washer/dryer as there was that same black mark in there. The beds and pillows were also pretty uncomfortable. My back hurt the next morning and for the pillows you had to fold it in half to notice it. The lock on the bathroom door doesn't latch properly, I saw a few other comments complaining about that but doesn't seem to be fixed yet.

The location was very convenient, just a few minutes walk from a 7/11 and a Lawson. The tram station was only 3-4 minute walk the opposite direction. The room was pretty spacious, we had room B or the first room on the right upon entering. I really enjoyed the shower and the fact that they had a urinal in the bathroom We met some nice guests our 2nd night and I had a quick 10-15 minute chat with them. One from the US and one from Canada. The washer and dryer was also free to use. We saw the host twice and he seemed nice both times.

This is a really good value for money Ryokan, I didn’t see the owners at all in the 3 nights I was there , I self checked in late by agreement around 8pm, but the following night someone was sharing the “dormitory” room who came at 11pm. Noone had said they were coming and I had locked the door from the inside, this was unnerving as the house was always open and a stranger was trying to come into the room when I was asleep. The bedroom was directly off the kitchen.

And there's a kitchen with a fridge, toilet and shower. Non of them are of exceptional quality, I avoided the kitchen and shower all together, but I didn't really expect more for the price. The curtains didn't block the light at all.

Really close to the train station and positively affordable. It's a small old house with a few shared rooms you can stay in. The photon beds are the same as any others.

I do wish there had been slippers to wear around the house, as it's quite cold and we were understandably asked to remove our shoes at the front door. Another thing that wasn't ideal was that the lock on the bathroom door didn't always latch fully.

Staying in a ryokan was such a cool experience. The washing/drying machine was free to use. The room was wide and I could easily spread my things out to repack my luggage.

Its 40 mins far from the centrum of hiroshima, but its very doable, as the next train station is nearby.

Its a very quiet area, but the train station is pretty close so u get both. These are private rooms and very comfortable to stay in. This has the perfect traditional living style and the host is very friendly.

The check in time is 430pm and I wasn't allowed an earlier check in even though it's a self check in and my room was empty. I also wasn't told that there's a sensor at the front door so I struggled to get in as other guests did. This useful information should be in the instructions. One bathroom is not enough for everyone... There were 12 people staying there at one stage so you have to be quick to get a shower! Some blinds on the kitchen/dining area windows would be nice so you're not looking out at the empty lot covered in weeds & plastic! Oh yeah and it's directly on the train line so it's very noisy!

It was nice to have a kitchen to cook in so you're not always eating out. It would have been nice if tea and coffee were provided though. An easy 5 min walk to the station

No seating in the rooms, just the futons for sleeping. Woud be nice to have a place to sit in the room, if you wanted to keep your distance from others and have some quite time. Nothing that can be done about it, but the train noise when they pass can be loud. The trains don't run all night, so it will stop.

Place is minutes away from the train station. There is a kitchen with the basic supplies needed to cook a meal, no need to go out everyday/night. There is also a few restraunts and a convienve store on the same street, between the train station and the hostel.

Very reasonable price, you get every penny's worth in a prewar traditional Japanese house!

    • 6-Bed Female Dormitory Room

As the house was built prewar, if you want a more comfortable "modern" experience, this place might pose a challenge. All the facility are quite old. There isn't AC outside of bedrooms, so if you are traveling in the summer and you go to the toilet or take a shower or use the kitchen, prepare for the heat! It also is very far (about 11 stops or 30 minutes away) from downtown Hiroshima. Also, note that if you are a solo traveler, you might get a roommate, and there isn't a privacy curtain. Luckily I had wonderful and considerate roommates.

This is a prewar house, very historical and it is after all a ryokan, so if you are looking for a traditional Japanese house-living experience, definitely stay here. It is in a residential neighborhood, and quite close to the streetcar station by being only a mere 5-minute walk-away. There are I believe three guest rooms, one bathroom, and one shower/sink room. And the price was just unbeatable!

The futons were very thin, all 3 of us are having back problems now as a result of it. Maybe an extra layer would be helpful

It is a great location if your focus is Itsukushima Island, but as for Hiroshima city, do take into account that it takes more than half a hour by train to reach the city centre, or come back.

The Japanese style of the building is quite charming and relaxing. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

The bathroom and toilet door were difficult to lock. It was unclear whether someone else was going to stay in the room or not, so I could not lock it in case someone else was coming. It takes a while to get to the center of Hiroshima.

I booked a shared room, but had the room to myself for two out of three nights. The owner was nice. It was quite clean. It's close to public transportation and the area is calm and quiet.
