Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CroatiaThe soundproofing isn’t great and some of the other guests were pretty loud. Some forks and knives would have been great in the room.
Great location close to the center of the town but on a quiet street. Free smoothies in the morning were great. Fairly spacious room for Japanese standards. Clean towels every morning. Friendly and helpful staff.

Singapore- Barely enough space in the room to walk and place our luggage - We have to pay for parking our car - No cleaning everyday even though it is a hotel
- Breakfast tasty and healthy w a wide selection - Staff friendly and accommodating, great hospitality e.g. providing small change for the dryer, assisting me to look for lost item - Bed was comfortable - Amenities complete: toiletries of high quality, we have the option to change towels everyday, paid washer and dryer - Free provision of coffee & tea at all times of day, and even free fruit smoothies every morning made from frozen fruit - Location is excellent, close to normal shops and dive shops. You don't really need a car if you are just there to dive, the dive shop can pick you up

United KingdomThe only downside was that the air conditioner in our room could have been cleaner, and the bathroom had a slight odor. It didn’t significantly affect our stay, but it’s worth noting.
Very convenient location — the city center of Ishigaki Island is just a stone's throw away. The highlight of our stay was definitely the breakfast. A wide selection of fresh, local dishes was available, and everything we tried was delicious! There was also a smoothie option offered as an alternative to the full breakfast, which was a light and refreshing way to start a summer day in the balmy island weather. During our stay, a family member joined us, and the staff kindly arranged for our rooms to be side by side, which made everything more convenient. We really appreciated their thoughtfulness and flexibility.

NetherlandsThe breakfast didn't have a lot of vegetarian options, would've liked a little more variety there.
Really nice and spacious rooms, very friendly staff, easy access to the main town and the ferry terminal, bus stop to and from the airport just around the corner, good amenities. Wonderful place!

JapanBreakfast choice -same food every day
Central and 5-10 minute walk to the restaurants and shop street. Tours know the hotel and can offer pickup. Also the airport bus #2-3&6 run in front of the hotel. About a 800yen ride to ANA intercontinental hotel and the beach as well as Donki store. Walking distyto bus and ferry terminal or other boat tours. Excellent breakfast for a 2 day stay but a bit redundant if staying longer. No pool or spa but balcony to dry stuff up and coin laundry on the 1st floor- convenient

AustraliaThe parking was expensive - the most expensive I had to pay throughout the whole trip, and I stayed in cities much bigger than Ishikigaki during the trip. Very expensive considering. Also, the staff were a bit short with me a number of times - whilst I speak Japanese it is not perfect and sometimes I can get tongue-tied trying to explain the situation. Ishigaki is a very touristy area and the staff showed signs of being sick of dealing with people, which I understand but that's not my problem, and more than once I got a hint of attitude that I did not appreciate.
The location is away from the main area, but close enough you can walk there in 5-10 minutes. The room was nice and big. My room had a kitchen and washing machine - more than what I was expecting, however the price reflects these bonuses.

CanadaThe beds and pillows were very hard and my limbs would go numb trying to sleep (I'm a side sleeper). There is a pillow 'library' where you should be able to get more pillows but they were all taken, except for a very sad broken one.
The staff were exceptional. Super helpful and went above and beyond to help us find a battery!!! Incredible service!

United KingdomNothing.
Room was clean and well-maintained, and the beds were comfortable. The shower was powerful and the water was hot. Plenty of toiletries, with additional options available if required. Great to have a washing machine in the room. Location was good; quiet and easy to get to the port for ferries to the islands and to take buses around Ishigaki and to/from the airport. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we were provided with free vouchers for smoothies in the morning.
