Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaYou will need to make reservations for dinner in advance. While we didn’t due to not having a Japanese phone service. It was 20mins drive from station that restaurants located. Fortunately a nice taxi driver took us to a cafeteria of a company named Yamasaki, which offers delicious small dishes and sakes and wines, with views of Mt Fuji!
Quiet property with nice hot springs. Relatively large room with very spacious bathroom where I even can practice swings. There’s also a balcony and massage chair! And its the hotel Tiger Woods stayed.

GermanyLocation: The hotel is only sporadically accessible by public transport. We had to take a taxi from Gotemba Station on a Saturday. While the hotel certainly offers a certain standard, it's definitely showing its age. Therefore, we consider the price/performance ratio to be overpriced. The breakfast was limited in quantity and unfortunately not sufficient. An additional portion or second helping was refused, even when offered to pay separately.
The rooms were spacious. The wellness area was very appealing.

United KingdomBreakfast was a set menu with very limited options. I ordered eggs, they charged an additional $60 (pricey eggs). The club house restaurant serves the very limited role of the hotel restaurant. The staff of the golf areas, the majority of the venue, do not like non-club members. Strict old school dress codes of business casual are required. Unfortunately, my wife was denied breakfast for having a visible tattoo on her arm. The club house manager said tattoos give "negative energy" to the facility. Most of the staff only speak Japanese. Women are required to have male escorts if unaccompanied by spouse. The customs and norms are antiquated; however, if you would like to travel back to a time of great misogyny, this is the place for you.
The golf course, upon which Villa The Club is centered, is well maintained and aesthetically pleasing. The rooms are a good size and the facility is essentially dated by approximately 40 years, but clean and presentable. If you are an older golfer, 60+, and formal customs, dress codes and expectations are enjoyable for you, this could be a great destination for a weekend of golf.

SwedenLike the Japanese version of Fawlty towers. It’s located on a golf course, and everything is based on pre reservations that you need to make long time before going there, I booked the suite for a two night stay when visiting Mount Fuji. It wasn’t possible to order any kind of food unless you pre booked a week before. And the facilities should have been renovated at least 10 years ago.

AustraliaGreat room. Spacious and clean. Hotel staff very polite and friendly. Restaurant over priced and felt out of place. Some of the staff in the restaurant were helpful others not so. Went to have lunch and was made to feel we shouldn’t have been there, so left. Shame there was no shop available to get snacks, hotel had a limited selection. Also being near the army barracks, it was noisy during the day due to what felt and sounded like gun shots or boming/ blowing things up. Upside Netflix was a plus.

United StatesBe aware that it is off the beaten path, so you will need a car or taxi to get there, but for me, it was well worth it, and I will stay here again on my next trip.
This is really a HIGH CLASS place. From the entrance through the lounge to the bathroom, it is extravagant. Front Desk Manager (Katosan) speaks excellent English and can direct you to some super restaurants. While the room in on the smaller side, but definitely not the smallest I’ve experienced, it too is elegant as well as practical with drawers, closet, TV, Refrigerator, and hot water pot. There are about 10 tonics in the bathroom ranging from hair tonic to aftershave — similar to what you would see in a First Class Golf Course in the men’s locker room. If you can reserve breakfast, do it; It’s great! Choose from 4 set menus and you will enjoy a fabulous feast. The Villa The Club is on the Golf Club campus. Beautiful views from the dining room, which is also quite fancy.

United StatesThe room felt like it was last renovated in the 90s. The bathroom was ok but the room itself was underwhelming. The washer/dryer was small and didn’t dry my clothes even though we added several more hours to the cylcle
The staff was amazing! Incredibly helpful and accommodating. They really went the extra mile to get you whatever you need. That part of my stay was great. I didn’t try the onsen but it looked very nice
