How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe had a wonderful stay! The host is incredibly kind and thoughtful, always ready to help with useful tips and recommendations. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a generous selection of snacks, and at the end of our stay we received a sweet farewell gift. The place is very comfortable, located in a pleasant and quiet neighborhood, and it’s especially great for families with children. We highly recommend staying here — it was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan!

Verified reviewThis is the perfect place if you are looking for an authentic Japanese experience. The apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood just steps from Sensō-ji Temple and Asakusa Station (Asakusa and Ginza lines). The apartment is located on the ground floor, offers all the comforts and is beautifully decorated. The owner is very kind and helpful, provides food and even gave some gifts to our children. Totally recommended!

Thank you for your stay. My child seemed to like Doraemon, so I wanted to give him a Doraemon toy. But this is a McDonald's free gift. I will prepare better Doraemon goods if I come again. I'll see you again someday🙋

Verified reviewSaito San was a great host and welcomed us on arrival. He has thought of all the amenities required during the stay along with thoughtful snacks and drinks. The place is a great size for families and the kids will love the cupboard beds! Location is a nice walk from Asakusa station and close to all the attractions in Asakusa.

Verified reviewThe owner Mr Saito was very accommodating. He also provided us with everything that we need. We got snacks to eat for free and he is an amazing host. I love the facilities in the house and the toilet is one of a kind! The place is also near the subway and tourist spots. Walking distance from asakusa temples and shrines and also not far from Tokyo sky tree and sumida aquarium. Very convenient when you are travelling to and fro narita airport as the subway is only few minutes away that will take you directly at the airport.

Verified reviewThis inn was very cosy and felt like a traditional Japanese home. It was clean with modern technology. The location was lovely, very close to Asakusa shrine and we walked passed Tokyo sky tree and Sumida river every day on the way to the station! The innkeeper explained everything and left his bikes for us, all facilities provided and even provided a fridge full of free snacks and drinks!

Verified reviewWonderful place! Very spacious compared to other options in Tokyo. Slept four very comfortably. Very gracious generous host. Lots of free snacks and drinks.
The location was good but not great. 7-Eleven was about a 7 min walk away. Subway and dining options were about 10 min away.
Thank you for your stay. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the location. The restaurant is closed on New Year's Day, and there are restaurants nearby on days other than New Year's Day. In addition, a convenience store will be opened nearby in February. Please come to our hotel again sometime🙋♂️

Verified reviewThe apartment was lovely and spacious as there were only two of us. Lots of freebies of food and toiletries, with an excellent host who tries hard to make everything perfect. Fun items like the musical toaster and some games are great for kids. The skytree is easily reached by foot and is best to do at night.
It is tucked away so you will have to be OK walking ten minutes from the nearest main metro, but we didn't find this a problem as it is a scenic crossing the bridge.
Thank you for your stay. Up to six people can stay at our hotel. It's a little expensive for two people, but I'm glad you liked it. If you ever come to Japan again, please come to our hotel. I'm looking forward to seeing my child grow up🙋♂️

Verified reviewA big fan of Tokyo shita-machi culture, I enjoy staying at various spots off downtown in Tokyo. This place was perfect for a family stay where me, my husband and my grown-up daughter had a pleasant stay. The place is calm, however, easily accesible to most of Tokyo hot spots. We're impressed by the range of amenities provided. The most cost-effective place that I've ever stayed in Tokyo.

Verified reviewThe atmosphere was wonderful, the owner was super nice, the room was spacious and well furnished.
The location was quiet but restaurants, subway and supermarkets were about 10 minutes walk away. The owner did provide free bicycles for use which would have made travel quicker but we didn’t use them because we had small kids. Previously I had made a review for this hotel which was inaccurate, I had confused this hotel with another that had a similar name. This place was awesome 10/10.
Thank you for your stay🙇♂️ I'm sorry I couldn't tell you that I have another duplicate key.In the case of staying for 6 people, we will give you another spare key 🔑 if you wish. Please come to Japan again sometime🙋♂️

Verified reviewVery exquisite Japanese style accommodation. The host is very friendly and patiently explains how to use the kitchen, toilet, air conditioning, heating, and toilet in the house. The house is clean & new and well equipped. A lot of snacks, cup noodles, bread, coffee, tea, etc. were prepared for us. All are free! The space is limited, and it seems a bit small for 6 adults because we have 6 suitcases. 4 or 5 people would be perfect. We stayed for 5 days and the host even provided us with new towels to change. He also prepared a lot of cleansing, skin care, and body care products. It takes about 10 minutes from the station. There is a small restaurant behind the hotel with very good food and reasonable prices.
The small sofa bed is a bit soft.
