How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewPlace was clean.
The beds were very uncomfortable, the pillows were the size of a dinner plate and very thin making it a rough sleep and leaving you with neck/ shoulder pain. They aren’t clear in the listing but theirs 12 beds in the room, making it very loud and if you have a top bunk, the curtains don’t close all the way so theirs no way to hide from the lights.

Verified reviewLarge shared space, the facilities were comfortable and clean and staff were helpful and friendly. Also free parking is right in the building so very easy
People came in very late, past 12am and turned all the lights on in the sleeping space and were very noisy.

Verified reviewThe hostel is just a 10 minutes walk from a main subway line stop in Nagoya, making it easy to travel into the city centre or to the outskirts to switch to the Linimo line. (Relevant for Ghibli Park travellers). I chose this location due to the proximity to Ghibli Park and it made it very easy to arrive there for my early entry - there are also convenience stores right next to the station for an easy breakfast or snack. The hostel itself was clean, quite cosy and had a nice, large living room. The staff are happy for you to leave luggage at their desk (50 yen fee per bag) which is useful for day-trips to the city. It is also located in a quiet, relaxing neighbourhood. I had a positive experience and I'm really grateful that this hostel exists and was at a decent price.
The pillow is quite small and not the most comfortable. The service desk hours are also limited exclusively to check-in and check-out, meaning there are only 6 hours per day when the service desk is open and staff is accessible (08:00 - 10:00 for checkout, and 18:00 - 22:00 for checkin, unless any late requests are made). This was not a problem for me, but this could be an issue if you wish to make an early start and want to leave your bag - you'd have to do so the night before - or if you have an afternoon train/flight and wouldn't be able to pick up your bag prior to 18:00.

Verified reviewEven though it's not in the city, I booked it because it's a midway point to the ghibli park so not to have to wake up too early to get there.
From the station there is a hill incline, so be mindful of that. You can store luggage but you won't be able to get it back between the hours of 10am-6pm because the front desk is closed.

Verified reviewThe common area was very spacious and as well as the kitchen area.
The check-in time was terrible. 6pm check-in, seriously? And we had to check out by 10am the next day, not even a 12 hour stay. I tried calling and no one picked up. There's also no one at reception during the times of 10am to 6pm. I really wanted to drop my luggage off but couldn't. I showed up hoping there would be someone but there wasn't. The self-checkin process was a key on the side of the door that ANYONE could access. My information was just sitting there on the counter after hours so anyone could have accessed it. The space was incredibly cramped, the light fixture was face level so every time I'd have to crawl into my pod, I'd hit my head on this bloody lamp. The bed wasn't comfortable.

Verified reviewthe checkin time is 6-10pm, very friendly for people arriving late.
The location is a bit far, 10 stations from the downtown, then it takes a 15min uphill walking from the station. Don't know why the payment is not made in advance automatically just like other hostels, and i have to pay onsite, which makes the checkin process a bit longer. The bed is really small, there is no space to hang the clothes or to place the backpack on the upper bed. The privacy of upper bed is not good either, i can see the other upper bed from my bed.

Verified reviewClose to Ghibli Park
Very bad layout of the female dorm, my bed was right next to the bathroom and the light would wake me up every time someone used it 😢 They should warn you before giving you that bed and offer a face mask to block the light. Or make it light proof like most capsule hostels. Also they need to tell guests to be quiet after 10pm - some rude guests were stomping feet at 11.30pm!! Tiny hard pillow so wearing earplugs was uncomfortable. Avoid this place if you want sleep. I picked it because it was closer to the Park but I lost 2h of sleep so it wasn't even worth it...

Verified reviewI like the shower room. It has all the things needed and it is very clean. Also I love the wide public space for all the people could spend their time, but the TV is too small and only at 1 small corner and you have to sit on the floor to watch it.
The other guests kept moving around and making a lot of noise which put me hard to sleep. And the check in time and check out time is too limited, and couldnt allow guest to deposit their lauggage or bags since there is no staff.

Verified reviewThe pillows were too small, and the air conditioning was very dirty and kept blowing out dirt. The air conditioning also could not keep the temperature up. The toilet smelled disgusting the entire time. The cooking smell in the common room was very obnoxious.
