Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe had an amazing 2 night stay at Ties to allow us to walk the Nakasendo Trail. The staff could not do enough for us and were so welcoming and helpful. The facilities were amazing, we could not fault it. We had delightful evenings cooking over coals, toasting marshmallows over the fire pit and looking out over the valley and bamboo forrest. I highly recommend even 1 night at this fabulous spot.

United KingdomTo reach the site we had to walk 3km uphill. We had expected to be able to take a taxi from Tsumago, but the taxi company didn’t want to go there - too far out of their way.
Well equipped tent and emplacement with open fireplace. Nice views. Clean toilet and shower. Staff very helpful.

ItalyThere wasn't anything I didn't like. Just one tip (not something I didn't like but to prepare for), bring a good sleep mask unless you don't want to wake up before 6am ;)
As everything in Japan, it was all perfectly organized and the staff was super kind. We had a great experience there, the place is wonderful, the quietness and the unexpected foot bath (onsen) was amazing. Food was also great, everything well explained and with all the support needed.

AustraliaThe tents are perhaps a little close to each other, and paying for a shower seemed a little much as the accommodation is not cheap to begin with, however overall these are very small points in what is otherwise a well-considered campsite.
Great team of staff who were very helpful in making the experience a fun one. We loved the interiors of the tents with warm and comfortable bedding. The location next to a small forest is lovely. The access to free firewood was a good to have, considering it can get cold in the hills. The shared kitchen facilities are well thought out and have pretty much everything you need. We self-catered and found everything that we needed to cook with.

New ZealandLoved it all. Will stay there again on our next visit.
Loved the Bell tents, well laid out. Warm and cozy. Comfortable. Not to far from the main building, but far enough away to have good privacy. A great overall layout on the property. Loved and appreciated the foot onsen after a day of hiking Nakasendo. We ordered dinner, and breakfast and both were yummy and very generous sizes.

United KingdomWe were travelling light and had not brought enough clothes for a chilly evening and early morning in March. We were warm in bed, in front of the fire, in the tent and once the sun was up. The syabu syabu was great. Lovely place and people, very helpful.

United StatesWe really enjoyed camping midway through our Japan trip! The campground is well set up and we had everything we needed to ensure a cozy stay. They provided sleeping bags in addition to regular bedding since it was a cold night (on top of heaters). They also have a lot of kitchen items for use which was fun to choose from! The addition of the deck and foot onsen during sunset was spectacular! The food that we arranged was great! We would stay here again.

AustraliaThe tent was clean and neat overall but unfortunately there appeared to be spots of mould on the tent canvas. This was the only downside to the entire stay.
The accommodation and facilities were lovely. The foot onsen was a real bonus after a big day's walk. Everything was well organized and the customer service was excellent. Our late arrival was accommodated on last minute's notice. We had a beautiful and delicious dinner which was conveniently prepared for us. The tent and the site had everything we needed including a firepit and a wonderful view.
