How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe property’s art choice was good but it’s all fake according to the owner.
Discrimination and Harassment We booked Kinta Hotel from the 5th to the 8th but were forced to leave early due to severe harassment from a 70-year-old male staff member. From the 6th, he repeatedly disturbed us with condescending “education.” On the 7th, he aggressively ordered us to move our parked car multiple times and accused us of misusing the lobby, despite us simply sitting quietly. During the confrontation, he made racist remarks such as: • “You Chinese don’t understand Japanese rules.” • “Foreigners should know the rules, we shouldn’t have to teach you.” • “You don’t have class and don’t deserve to be here.” He demanded that we “respect” him simply due to his age and aggressively confronted a female guest. Meanwhile, another man—claimed to be a “drunk guest” but clearly close to the staff—slammed doors and provocatively paced around us. The so-called hotel manager, instead of resolving the issue, excused his father’s behavior and refused to address our safety concerns. A female guest was brought to tears, and a 16-year-old boy suffered stress-induced pain. The hotel refused to refund our last night, forcing us to leave at 10 PM. Even after police intervention, they continued to justify their actions.
The first of all we definitely put every art peaces original and real at our lounge spaces ,some are lithograph at stairs and toilets and told the one member about this and she was very impressed at that time. So that we wonder why she wrote our art peaces are fake. They occupied in front of public fire place by drinking and eating lots of snacks and beverages brought in by them. In previous day they did same behavior but we tolerate and told nothing then next day we are fully booked and the fire place was very important space for out guest so that we asked to eat and drink in their room ,because we are told by other gests not felling like to being there due their occupation. But they started yelling and we called the police to solve the problem. We should have told them not to do drink and eat their brought foods at public space which is part of our bar and restaurant . So we apologized for let them being misunderstood .

Verified reviewThe host and staff are very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast and great ambience. Room is clean and private bathroom is new.
The only thing that bothers us is that the heater temperature in the room cannot be adjusted. Once it’s turned on, the room gets very warm.

Verified reviewBeautiful hotel, config of room was great for the family, not always easy to find in Japan. Beautiful open air o send looking out over Naeba ski slopes, fabulous staff, we had a great week at the Kinta.
Lack of transport option means you need to eat at the hotel, food was excellent, or be prepared to walk to dinner after a day on the slopes.

Verified reviewThe host were actually quite responsible and experienced in hospitality, even we were late check in, he still quite helpful, thanks for that, the breakfast was not bad in that ski area, just a bit pricey, 2000 yen per one.
The room size was not big it said for 3 person, it only can fit 2 person with luggages, but the view was ok, the onsen was just hot water. The hostel was divided in two building, one is for restaurant and reception with stairs only, one is the main building for rooms, you need to cross a road for breakfast and rent ski gears, the car park area were close but without cover. I was booked the room for one ppl stayed, but my friend joined at last minute when we arrived the hotel late, so eventually 2 persons stayed at the room, we thought just added one extra bed in tatami won't costs too much, and i was fully paid for the room already, so we didn't ask the extra amount...then when we checking out...the extra cost for one person was surprisingly high and unreasonable, it's almost 80% of my booked costs....my friend need to pay extra 49000 yen for stay 4 nights. And the costs for rent snow gears are the same as those ski shop outside and with limited choices, the host suggested a smaller size shoes for my friend that he need to rent a bigger pair in other shop. Also, the tatami bed was not so clean, i had bed bug bites in my back.
Thank you for your first comment and For the second comment. We charges additional for your additional guest .You made the reservation for one person and happened to add another person as friend so that we charge the additional according to the price list as same as one used for Booking ,com. What you are doing is quite irrational claim ,no will to pay for the service and accommodation . Even we showed you our price list at our reception. Please tell a real story and ask Booking .com about this happening and write a rational comment not misleading other expected guests. Thank you.

The bathroom was very small. 7-8 min walking distance to Naeba South Gate. It wasn’t easy to carry ski gears back and forth.

Verified reviewWe were a ski group of three friends and had a great stay at The KINTA. Staff were friendly and helpful, room was comfortable (we had twin beds and a separate tatami room that had two futons) and the food is delicious! A lot of care and great style has gone into the hotel’s decoration- we loved all the art and attention to detail. The hotel staff picked us up from the Naeba ski resort bus stop when we arrived and also when we departed. We found it an easy distance to walk to the ski lifts from the hotel (in ski boots). You can also walk to the nearby Prince hotel or other places for dinner but make sure you have a least one dinner at the hotel- it was delicious four course dinner (you need to let them know by 5pm the day before if you want to eat dinner at the hotel. The breakfasts were also delicious.
