Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe rooms could be bigger but great for the price.
Very clean, nicely sized rooms and the Onsen access is wonderful. They have a good cafe with tasty and reasonably priced food downstairs. You get your own gowns provided in your rooms and all the facilities in the rooms are great.

NetherlandsNice, modern hotel, right at the top of the small main street of Noboribetsu Onsen. To me, the best part of the stay was the free access to the very extensive onsen/spa of the larger hotel across the street. This hotel also has a modest onsen in the basement level which is more convenient to the rooms. I'd definitely return here.

United KingdomAmazing to use the onsen at the very fancy hotel opposite - view of Hell Valley from the onsen! Adex Inn is very modern, comfortable and clean. Lovely cafe and bakery downstairs. Would recommend for better value than the other hotels in the area!

PolandA very nice hotel in the very centre of Noboribetsu - near all interesting places. The room was clean and spacious, staff was friendly and helpful - there is a small onsen on the first floor of the hotel - you also have access to a bigger onsen across the street. I really enjoyed my stay in Adex Inn - I can honestly recommend this place.

AustraliaPillow, too flat, which appears to be a common theme in several of the accommodations in Japan
Close to a lot of the attractions such as the various hikes, also to the restaurants, quiet.

FranceEverything was perfect. The location, the access to the great onsen on the hotel across the street, and the café in the first floor especially were very enjoyable additions to a clean, comfortable room. It's very close to Jigokudani, and it's making it extra easy to enjoy the Onibi-no-michi after sunset. It's at the town's shopping street entry so no problem to stroll, buy souvenirs, and go eat in one of the restaurant. It's also just around the corner of the Sengen place and the bus stop to go to Noboribetsu JR station. Noboribetsu isn't a big city in any way, but I especially liked the location of this hotel and felt at the center of everything. The staff was kind and helpful, and the café's little treats were very good. I especially liked their pain au chocolat (but I think they called it a "chocolate croissant") which I can say, even as a French, is one of the best I had. I would book there again without question.

BelgiumWifi was very weak. Very little place for keeping one's things in the bathroom, not even a place to hang a towel (neither in the room). The iron doors on the room came as quite a surprise, especially considering the price.
All the required and described amenities were present. Location good, near Hell Valley and of course, with access to Takimotokan's onsen across the street.

Hong Konggood location. we arrived at the hotel late and so checked in at the coffee shop. the staff there helped us to check in when the reception was closed. there is a convenient store nearby and we had Japanese noodles in a shop nearby. beds are comfortable but there is not alot of space to put our bags. I read online that we could use the hot spring in the hotel on the opposite road but we were too tired and so didnt go. overall, my family liked this place. we had lunch in on next day after we visited the tourist sites nearby. it's not easy to find a place to eat here if you come here as a big group. the restaurants are small. so we came back to the hotel to have our lunch. the sandwich in the coffee shop is ok. there is pasta but all sold out that day. if plan to visit the tourist sites nearby, it's a good choice to stay here.

Czech RepublicRefurbished hotel with big rooms, quick self check-in and nice café, where you can buy pastry and coffee for breakfast. The hotel has tiny onsen with free entry in the basement, but you can also visit the huge onsen complex at the hotel across the street for free!

United StatesThe room doors are hollow metal and there is a gap beneath them. Every sound made in the hallway echos into your room. Not a problem if you have quiet neighbors, but an issue with a noisy or late arrving group. Thankfully, there are only a few rooms on each floor, so reduced likelihood of this being an issue.
Located in the heart of the onsen town - immediately next to everything you want to do and see. Access to the onsen / spa facilities across the street is included, and it is the biggest, most complete and most varied onsen I have yet visited in 4 trips to Japan (totalling over a year in length). Very pleasant room and facilities.

SwitzerlandNothing.
The rooms look much better than in the pictures, and the location is exceptional. The café/bakery downstairs is delicious, and the onsen of the hotel next door (access is included in the 600 yen onsen tax) is AMAZING. It has the best view on Jigokudani valley. The hotel staff were also very accommodating, immediately accepting to move our reservation when we got stuck in Hakodate due to everything shutting down after a tsunami warning.

PhilippinesWifi was of little to no use in our room. We stayed at Room 712, the topmost corner of the hotel and probably the spot that is barely touched by any signal. We only get to use the wifi at the cafe but even there, the browsing experience still gets interrupted. We wished the baked goods at the cafe were available all days of the week.
Close to everything at a walking distance: bus stop, Hell Valley, and other places of interest, restaurants, and shops. For a room in Japan, this one feels spacious. It can comfortably accommodate 2 people with carry-on luggages. The bathroom was a delight because it was roomy and the toilet had these interesting features, uniquely Japanese. Free access to the grand bath onsen at the bigger hotel across the street. The laundry room is a big relief to one-bag travellers, just have 100 yen coins on hand. The cafe at the lobby makes great croissants. On the day before our last day, we carelessly left our key cards in our room and one of the staff manning the cafe patiently came to our rescue.

SingaporeWifi is weak in the room. There are sofa and table at the lift lobby area where the Wifi is strong. Sometime, we go there to get signal strength. Hotel should improve on this. Nearby shops are closed at 5pm, limited dinner choices.
There is a cafe available at the lobby. Self checkin/checkout, Pay onsen fee Yen300/night/pax. Twin bed in room with reasonable room size. Washer and dryer available with fee. There is a small onsen at the hotel. Free parking across the road. Hotel guests are free to use the onsen at Dai-ichi Takimotokan Hotel which has many pools that is just across the road using the room card.

FranceSome guests were a bit loud which made us realise the insulation was poor, but really, that is just to put something in this section.
Super stylish, clean, well located to explore the region. It has its own little onsen which works, or else you can go to the onsen at the hotel opposite the street, for free. Amazing bakery at the ground floor.

SpainThe most important thing you have to know is that the onsen at the four star hotel in front of Adex inn is included. You just have to go through the maze to enjoy the best baths ever with your room key. The rooms at the Adex inn are also ok, the western beds are really confy and there is breakfast from the bakery below if you want to indulge youself in really nice pastries, although they are a little bit expensive as well.
