There are not many trains or bus to this destination. The hostel is a little bit hard to find. I saw some cockroaches while staying here.

This is a tradition Japanese house, we had such interesting experience. The bathroom is big and clean. The owner is very friendly, he also provide sinstant noodle cup and snack with very reasonable price.

The Hostel is very close to the temple, and because of that not very easily accessible. At night, it might be a bit of a scary experience, the building is very old, but you will find that it is still an enjoyable adventure.

It was for sure an unforgetable experience, but not for the faint of heart. The staff was absolutely amazing.

It's an authentic experience if you want to stay in a japanese temple. It's nothing luxurious but good enough.

It's an old temple so it has a really unic atmosphere. The quality price was really good, but keep in mind it won't be the most luxurious stay. The staff was really friendly, and there is a bus stop a 5 min distance (the buses are scarce so check in advance the schedule). It's really close to the sea and one of the most famous temples of the area. The internet works fine and the kitchen has a bunch of utilities you can use . The Jr station is a 15/20 min pleasant walk.

The location is bit far but it's part of the experience! It will be a bit hard to find in the dark though, best to check in during daylight. Do note that the car park is located down the stairs and you'll have to climb up. So those with heavy luggages please note! It's a bit slippery with the rain. Toilet and shower are different parts of the property.

The host is so lovely and cute, although language was a tough barrier. But her lovely smiles and disposition doesn't need any translation! The room and futons were very nicely set up for us and it was a comfortable stay. Note that you will have to share the property with other guests if the other rooms are booked, and the walls are thin so sound definitely travels. Groups will need to take care of our volume! The location is definitely unique and worth a night's experience, though it is a bit remote on a hill and you definitely need a car. You'll need to get food elsewhere for sure, nothing nearby but they do provide cup noodles in the kitchen for a small fee!

This is a hostel inside the precinct of Taiko-ji temple. The price is very reasonable for a tatami room. There is also a kitchen you can use in addition to the bathtub, which I appreciate a lot because I was really cold. The (chief?) priest was very friendly and he can speak English well. The temple is right next to Ise Sea Paradise and Futamiokitama Shrine and is very close to Hinjitsu-kan, which is a must-go! So I hope you'd choose to stay here. I was told I can stay until whenever I want so it's great that I can sleep in.

Nothing. However, staying alone in an empty old house might be somehow scary for some people.

Everything in the place was positive surprise for me. This is an old hostel style accommodation so you cannot compare it to the hotels/resorts/etc. However, the successive night my accommodation is a popular chain hotel in Japan but I miss the Taikoji hostel in which I spend the previous night:) the hostel is an old house made of wood with leaky windows and thick paper-made walls. I was the only guest that night and it was an excellent experience.

Just a suggestion but it might be hard to find the hostel if you arrive in the evening so I suggest going there during daylight. Also around the area there is no restaurant or combini so if you want to have a decent dinner/breakfast you should prepare it before going to the hostel.

The hostel is located inside Taikoji Temple, near Meoto Iwa and near the bus stops going to Toba and Ise Jingu. The temple is an evacuation site, there are signs instructing how to get there, thus very easy to find the way. The price is very cheap, the rooms are separated and the bathroom, toilet and dining room are shared.

Staying in a gorgeous and old temple is just unique. It will remain one of the best places I ever stayed, not just in Japan but anywhere. (and I've been around for a while ;))

If you want a real Japanese experience, this is your place. A mixture between traditional Japanese houses and old days life. it's literally beside a shrine. The crew was incredibly nice. Ideal to disconnect from the world and live some days of peace and quiet

Lots and lots and lots of insects, other than that you are literally sleeping in the woods next to a temple, you can hear everything, every insect, there was no possibility to lock our room. We were the only ones staying there and it was during the night a bit creepy

The location itself, around 10 minutes from the stone shrine is not bad

there was no one from the Shukubo there to greet me. it said on the booking page that they could pick you up from the station, but that certainly wasn’t an option. I called and asked, and they said there was no way, as they were “busy.” So I walked in the dark from the nearest train station. At one point in the night the staff came in to the hall nearby and were aggressively arguing about something. then saying, “it’s the foreigner’s fault…” I was never greeted by them at all. But they seemed disgruntled. I only met one of them in passing the next morning as I was taking my luggage out the front door. And they were in a hurry so they avoided me. i’ve stayed in countless hotels throughout Japan, and this was easily the worst experience I’ve ever had. tons of posted rules and hardly any amenities. there is cup noodle for ¥100 to buy. Also, the floor was rickety and felt like I was going to fall through in some places. the futon was old and hard and smelled bad. no heating so I wore my down puffy jacket to sleep. it’s like camping really. shouldn’t charge for this room. Avoid at all costs.

it was cheap (comparatively) and an interesting experience
