Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe main drawback for me was the size of the room, which felt quite small. Additionally, the bathroom in the room itself felt a little outdated and unfortunately didn't have a Japanese-style toilet.
I particularly liked the cleanliness of the room and the thoughtful little amenities that were provided. The location was also incredibly convenient, being just a short five-minute walk from Hiroshima train station. This made catching the Shinkansen very easy indeed. Having access to a public Japanese-style toilet and an additional public sink/bathroom on the same floor was also a nice touch.

NetherlandsBiggest room in a 2 star hotel we have stayed. Beds were really good, wide and firm with good pillows. We didn't realized the shared bathroom meant the toilet was in the same floor of the bedroom but the shower was in the ground floor. We stayed 2 nights only. It is close to the train station and public transport. We were very early for check in and got our room ready earlier which allowed us to make the most of the traveling day. The hotel is behind an APA hotel where you can have breakfast or go to the convenience store on the APA ground floor fir food though there are many restaurants near and at the train station. One thing to improve/offer is coffee/tea caddy. Sound insulation. I would not call the tiny balcony a terrace.

GermanyLoved this place, it has a great location. Bus and train stations are not far away - restaurants and some shops are just around the corner. They also can give you some information about your trip in the city, because they are also like a small tourist information.

SwitzerlandNo individual toilets or shower. Don't expect too much from the "spa" in the title of the hostel (there's an enzyme bath but that's pretty much about it other than shower rooms, and I didn't wanted to try). The reception closes at 6 PM so be aware of that if you need help from them (you can check-in by yourself using a tablet at the entrance, rooms are locked by a code). Speaking of code it took me a while to understand how to lock my room from the outside (I know it's explained in the PDF they provide you but having it reminded on the door or at least on the booklet in every room would be a plus). Also I don't know how the star rating system work in Japan but I'm not sure I would have marked the services as 4 stars.
The room was quite spacious. The hostel is very well located. You have access to a (paid) laundry service were they provide the detergent. The hostel has a very cute atmosphere, almost familial (but not as familial as a youth hostel). The personnel is adorable and very helpful (they also serve as tourist information center). There was an issue with the wifi on the first day but once fixed it worked very efficiently. If you plan to try Hiroshima's okonomiyaki there's a very cute restaurant literally across the street.

GermanyNot much interior (shared bathroom on the floor, showers on the ground floor, but no space to put bath bags or -potentially wet- towels). Because of the 'spa' in the name I expected a nice shared bathtub, but no. Also very strict towel policy (one big towel and a small hand towel per person per stay, no towel/personal mat for in front of the showers, only shared mat). Paper towels were provided at the sink. Washing machines worked but the drier did not. Not enough space in the room to open two suitcases without risk of someone falling (twin room). Also offered only paper cups in the lobby for drinking. No actual cups, spoons or cups for brushing your teeth. Then there were a lot of dehumidifiers on 24/7. Did not feel very environmentally friendly at all. Self check in took a long time.
Beds and pillows were comfy! Convenient location. Shoe locker. Check-in was already after twelve!

United KingdomTable in the room was a little small, but otherwise everything was good.
I think there was a spa in the hotel, so there was a general 'wellness' theme, for example there was a calming video playing in the seating area past reception. The staff were very friendly. There was a water cooler downstairs with free cool water for guests. I arrived two or three hours before my check in time and they generously allowed me to leave my luggage with them.

GermanyMaybe the volume of the advertisment video of the hotel at the front door could be reduced. In the room above it you can hear it the whole night.
The hotel is very well located when you travel with the Shinkansen. You can drop your luggage without having a long way through the city and can go on to explore the city without carring to much weight. Also the city center and the peace park is not far away and everything can be reached easily. The station is not far so also daytrips are easy. The room was quite large and the beds were comfortable. The rooms have no bathroom and showers but that was clear from the beginning. Ther is a common space for a sink and toilets on each floor. The showers are on the ground floor. The common space is great.

GermanyThe walls are very thin, so if your neighbours are loud you will hear it. Also we kind of didn’t know why the hotel is called a “spa”. There wasn’t even an onsen, only massages to buy and the overwhelming smell of patchouli in the hallways.
The beds were comfortable.

JapanIt seems that you get what you pay for. There was no food and the only showers were on the ground floor, but it was well-placed near a 7-11 so my own food was easily obtainable (and they DID provide a refrigerator).
The room was clean and comfortable, wi-fi was provided, and the staff, altho limited in English, tried their best to welcome me. There was no food, but tea was available on the ground floor. It's a bit of a hike to the train station. I'm fit so it's ok but less mobile folks should arrange rides. A very good set of local travel pamphlets were available.

IrelandTo enter the building, you have to take off your shoes, which helps keep the place clean. However, it could be a bit inconvenient when several people were at the entrance at the same time, trying to take off or put on their shoes.
The property is well located, just a short walk from Hiroshima Station. Each floor had one bathroom and two sinks, which was very convenient. On the ground floor, there are three showers (it might seem like a small number, but during our stay, they were always available). Everything was very clean and well maintained. Although the staff were not always present, they were very kind and helpful when we had an issue with the washing machine
