Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThis hotel met our expectations. It was very expensive for what you receive, however we understand that it was also peak season and there are no other options so close to the hill. They were very accommodating to my dietaries (gluten free,) which was fantastic. The on site onsen was also a highlight, along with obviously the proximity to the mountain.

AustraliaBut beware the shared dorm experience. Your mileage may vary, but will be sharing a space with up to 80 other people...along with the...challenges that brings.
Pretty good value for money. The facilities are great and location is literally unbeatable. Breakfast and dinner were good. Excellent onsen!

GermanyThis place is for skiing and there is not much around to do besides that. So you basically have to book half-board because there are limited options to buy food or store your own food.
I loved my stay here. The accommodation is at one end of the ski resort building, only a one-minute walk to the slopes and lifts. The dormitory was bigger than expected and was basically one big room with over 80 beds. But it was so quiet, I didn't even need earplugs. Also enough space to store luggage. I enjoyed the food, it was a buffet for breakfast (japanese) and dinner. Going to the onsen after skiing was amazing, especially sitting in the outdoor onsen while it was snowing. Would definitely come back!

JapanNo vegetarian options for breakfast or dinner so be prepared to eat a lot of rice with limited food options from the buffet if vegetarian. Considering the accomm cost, the wears and tears could be fixed on the reclining chairs on the 2nd floor relaxation area.
Just at the slopes - great access from Tokyo with a 2.5h bullet train ride+free shuttle bus ride from Kitakami station. The gym and the tattoo friendly hot bath and sauna were nice.

My best ski in ski out experience. With a small but very decent dry room to store your skiwear overnight. I didn't use the kitchen but cookware are of excellent grade.

United StatesYou're sleeping in a room with ~90 other people. Bring earplugs. When I stayed, there was a group that was always talking so loudly in the dorm area no matter the time (7a, 10p, etc). I understand they were talking about work (filming something) but they could have whispered or gone to the common areas instead. I found this so disrespectful to the other guests who were trying to sleep.
The bunks are sturdier than I expected and you get your own locker (with key) to stash your valuables. There's a drying room and a place to put your skis/boards, too. As others have commented, breakfast and dinner were included, and while most of the dishes were the same, there was enough variation in each meal that it wasn't so bad to eat for 2 days. They sell alcohol and snacks (chips, chocolate, ice cream) at the front, and there are drink vending machines. You can also nip out into the main resort and visit the 1st floor cafe (open til 10p) for a change of scenery. Aside from the dorm and dining area, there's also a lounge room to relax in with fully reclining chairs and books (mostly Japanese comics but you can find a few other languages if you look). The baths were great and never so crowded you had to wait to shower. They do close for cleaning so be sure to check the hours if you want to take a dip or even wash up. I'm very grateful for the free shuttle that takes you between Kitakami Station and the resort. The schedules and locations were very clearly marked, too!
