Most free bikes are broken , so do the pans in the kitchen but the fridges are large and the plates are plenty and stylish

Be mindful that the area isn't easy to navigate without a car - I would really recommend bearing in mind - but this applies to all of Iriomote (which is definitely worth visiting).

This hostel has everything you could want really. Lovely common areas, comfortable beds, lots of space (including outdoors), free (old) bikes and lovely staff.

Very spacious place, well equiped kitchen, kind owner who offered to pick me up and bring me back to the ferry terminal, right near the countryside (cows and sugar cane fields), very quiet, free rental bikes for the supermarket (but not for longer distances as Iriomote has lots of mountains).

Very affordable accommodation in Iriomote which does not have many options in this price range. Has all the facilities for cooking your own meals, laundry, parking, free to borrow bicycle. Owner is very knowledgeable of the island activities and food options.

This guesthouse has great vibes, we instantly feel good cosy and at home. Everything is clean, and confortable. The hosts were nice and helpful. It is the kind of place you don't feel like leaving.

The hostel owner was so kind and helpful with our trip to Iriomote. She went above and beyond by picking us up from the ferry port and helping with recommendations. The room is simple, island accommodation but the shared common room is very nice with instruments and books. Kitchen was nice to use to make some food if we wanted. Extra fuzzy blankets free to use if you got cold in the night. Check out the stars at night! Also, FREE bike rental. What more could you want? Definitely check out the Co-op store down the street; delicious fresh food after 11am try the taco rice!!! We really loved Iriomote it was so peaceful and special. Our favorite island. Do visit and this hostel will serve you right!!

The owner was very nice and even offered to teach me how to play the sanshin! The room was clean and the beds were comfy. The stars at night were incredible.

Amazing people, very helpful and kind. They pick you up from the terminal and have lots of information about what to do on Iriomote. May even offer you a ride back if you meet them at the supermarket, play music in the car, or sing amazing songs while you're there. You can relax and enjoy the quiet and also the sounds of the island. The building is spacious and has a lot of communal spaces and a big garden. Every corner is comfortable and clean. And the bus stop is not far.

All was good!

The owner was extremely kind and helpful. She shared a wealth of information about the local restaurants; thanks to her, I had amazing food both nights I was on Iriomote. Even though the building is kind of old, it’s been well-maintained, has everything one would need, and is obviously cleaned with care. Some reviews mentioned the out-of-the-way location but I actually picked this place in Ohara rather than lodgings in Uehara because I figured the stars would be brighter. Indeed, it was quite a night view! I definitely recommend this place.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the guest-house well organised, with lots of facilities. The location was also beautiful - in an agricultural area with a forest nearby (where I caught a very rare glimpse of an Iriomote wildcat).

Many of the tours i wanted to do were on the other side of the island with only 2 options near where i was staying. But thats more my fault for choosing the wrong town instead of a problem with the property
