Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomMe being British and not following the instructions on the dryer, resulting in a few shrunken clothes :p
Staying as the stop 3 out of 7 on our honeymoon tour of Japan, this was probably the highlight stay of it all. The hotel itself is small with only a handful of rooms but it isl cosy and all you need for a quiet stay away from almost anyone. Even for Japanese standards, the staff extraordinarily nice and helpful in every possible way, so compared to anywhere in Europe / America etc, you will not beat them. Everything here goes with the idillic tropical island stay, with a collection of private white sandy beaches, hermit crabs to watch for days, no other buildings in sight and the only other sound being the very occasional car slowly passing on it's way to the light house further up the road. We cannot wait to return.

FranceAs you approach the front of the hotel it looks like a motel but don't be put off by this external facade. There isn't much outside space to relax other than heading down to the beaches. It would be great if more sun-loungers and shade umbrellas could be provided. We only saw two sun-loungers but no umbrellas. We didn't use the roof terrace during our stay. It would have been lovely to eat outside on warm dry evenings but this wasn't offered.
We spent 5 nights in this small hotel in the north of the island, far from anywhere but it’s location is what makes it so special. The hotel is located in the North West of the island and is a good 40 minutes from the airport and main activities on the island but it is so worth it for the views and it’s three beautiful secluded beaches. The staff took great care of us throughout our stay. A big thanks to them all for making us feel so welcome. And finally, the food! A hearty breakfast is included in the price but make sure to book in for the delicious dinner. The array of dishes served at each meal all prepared with great care and attention to detail and made with fresh local ingredients. The wagu sirloin steak was amazing!

AustraliaLocation is incredible. The adjacent private beaches are the best you’ll find on Ishigaki. Rooms are comfy and clean and have a great shower and spa.

NetherlandsBeautiful Setting, but Not Without Frustrations While the location is undeniably stunning and the natural surroundings are the main draw, we encountered several inconveniences that affected our overall experience. The most notable issue was the very limited time frames for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. As holidaymakers, we expected a more relaxed schedule—breakfast served until at least 10:00 and dinner offered at a leisurely pace. Instead, the tight dining windows felt more suited to a retreat center than a vacation spot. On one occasion, we misunderstood the dinner time (served at 18:30), and when we arrived at 19:30, we were rushed through the meal. It felt uncomfortable, and one staff member appeared visibly frustrated. After that, we chose to skip meals at the hotel entirely and drove over an hour to find restaurants that better matched our expectations. The hotel's remote location means there’s nothing nearby—only a few small shops with irregular hours and a beach club just steps away that, unfortunately, was closed during our entire stay. We also missed some basic beach comforts: there were only two beach chairs available, and no umbrellas were set up for guests, either on the beach or the rooftop terrace. On the positive side, the laundry and dryer are free to use, including detergent. However, the laundry soap provided is of lower quality than what is used for the hotel’s linens and doesn’t include softener, so the wash results were just average. Cleaning is scheduled every three nights. On the third day, no cleaning was done unless we specifically requested it; only fresh towels, two beers, and water were dropped off. Considering these issues—especially the dining limitations and lack of comfort amenities—we felt the nightly rate was too high for the value received.
A Hidden Gem for Nature Lovers The location is absolutely stunning—right on a beautiful beach with easy access to four or five other paradisiacal, hidden, and secluded beaches. Pristine nature and peaceful surroundings are the main—and truly only—attraction in this part of the island, making it the perfect getaway if you're looking for a quiet, off-the-beaten-path retreat. The room was spacious, with a large terrace, a well-designed bathroom, and calm, tasteful interiors. The rooftop terrace is especially beautiful, offering breathtaking views. Although the hotel is semi self-catered, with the bar and restaurant open only during service hours for a few hours a day, it suited the relaxed atmosphere perfectly. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the owner spoke fluent English, which made communication easy.

United KingdomEvery thing was good - our only suggestion would to be more flexible on the lunch front. Having to decide days in advance doesn’t work because decisions are weather dependent. I would suggest a small simple menu could be made available daily.
The setting is excellent with three beautiful and very quiet beaches within walking distance of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The manager was excellent and helped with booking our snorkel tours etc. Dinner was a treat every night and we recommend taking this for your stay. We booked a car to get there from the airport and used this to have a look around the island.

It is a complete retreat away from everywhere. Staff are charming. The private beaches are such a treat, I’ve never had beaches like that to myself. Food is Japanese, but still good for western teenagers who don’t eat fish.

United Kingdom-
We had absolutely nicest time at Seven Colours. The place is so beautiful and in a fantastic location (we wanted something nice and quiet directly by the beach). there are 3 stunning hidden beaches within a few minutes walk and we were usually the only ones there. The food was also absolutely delicious and we loved our dinners there with beautiful traditional okinawan dishes every night. It was all was rounded off with the amazing service and the great staff like Nonaka-San who made our stay even more enjoyable.

LatviaBad weather as it was the beginning of December. Nothing the hotel could do about that.
A beautiful secluded location with choices of several sandy beaches which were effectively private. The decent-sized room had a great view of the sea. Real tasty meals - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The real selling point were the staff - they were the most human and humble people we met during our trip to Japan. They make this boutique hotel very special. So friendly and helpful.
