Super friendly staff with good tips about Shimoda (challenge: try the nearby public bath). Flexibility for check in and out is always appreciated. Spotlessly clean. Good cooking facilities. And nice music!

The curtains/blinds could have been better. The room gets pretty bright with the first rays of sun, like 5:30.

The staff was extremely easy to reach and communicate with. The location of the property is great, being 15 minutes away from the station and right next to Perry Road. The house was renovated nicely, without losing the authenticity. I also got a bike for free to explore Shimoda more easily.

Due to the windows being sliding panels, when there was wind, they would make a banging noise which was difficult to fall asleep to, so keep this in mind when booking the house. Lastly, the shower door is made out of blurred glass so if there are other people staying in, they might be able to see in the shower.

Highly recommended! The house owner is a really nice person - timely answers questions and actively provides guidance to visit the town. I had an exceptionally good stay there. The house is very clean and cosy, with proper Japanese style. It is not far from station and close to the Perry Road (tourist attraction). Nice neighborhood, restaurants and small shops nearby.

There was a lot of dirt, not possible to close shutter because of AC, small small room with no possibility to open your bags in it (if not on your bed)

Such a lovely guesthouse! Well decorated and cosy, very relaxing. And excellent location! Close to lots of restaurants and eats, and one of the nicest beach in the area.

I think the place can be improved on the comfort side. From the photos I thought there would be futon beds but they were cheap and hard mattresses. Kusha, the kind host lady explained to me that the place just opened and that she was going to improve the bedroom's comfort as it is a bit rough at the moment and the price would deserve to be cheaper in the present state of the rooms (window blinds or curtains missing as well as clothes hangers, proper mattresses or futon beds would be needed and the windows of the whole house make sounds when the wind is blowing...) Maybe perfect for backpackers but then I think too expensive at the moment. Let's see how this guesthouse will evolve cause it has great potential!

Very friendly hosts with very good advice regarding activities in Shimoda. Large room, in a typical house, the exact oppositeof staying un an anonymous hotel.
