How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Wanted to charge us for extra pillows😵💫 The beds were rock hard, the bed was up against one wall… we had to move it to get into that side of the bed. No facilities to place a suitcase to unpack… had to improvise by moving a table over to the sofa.

Verified reviewAmazingly friendly staff. The all-day free hot and cold drinks in the dining area was very appreciated. The rooftop hot tub costs extra, but it was really nice after a a long day of walking (and private). And of course, 10 steps to the metro station is a bonus.

Verified reviewRooms were clean, modern, and large! The hotel is very quiet. The coin laundry machines are nice and cleaned my clothes well and the location is very close to the train station. I stayed here for the 2025 Expo and it was very convenient to go to the expo and go home! The staff were very friendly and helpful! Breakfast was mostly sweets but the matcha latte was very good.
The bidet was not usable. It was dirty and had poop stains and mildew on it. It was surprising because everything else was so clean. Mattress is hard and the AC is not the best.

Verified reviewHotel Sails has an excellent location, close to train and bus stops. The rooms are nice and clean. The staff is very helpful. Especially, Ms. Manami Nakatani was very proactive in helping us find a Doctor and or Hospital for our son who had a toe nail ingrowth. She called in to almost a dozen facilities which exceeded our expectations. Great customer service and always a smile on the face.

Verified reviewWe choose hotel Sails because it was only two metro stops from the Expo 2025 and the metro station was right in front of the hotel. We had a very large room with a table and 4 chairs and a couch at back side of the hotel. We were very happy with this since the rooms at the front side of the hotel probably hear every metro arriving every few minutes. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Everything is very clean. Easy to do your own laundry.
The breakfast was so simple that we picked up food from the convenience store the next few days. very disappointing after reading the reviews. Although we liked our room and that we could open the window at night, we didn’t like the milky glass so we could not look outside. After opening the windows we understand why, rundown apartment block and a rundown garden would have been the view.

Verified reviewSpacious room. Nice to have the breakfast option. Salads, pastries and donuts. Lots of restaurants nearby and conbinis. Free coffee and non alcoholic drinks in the dining area from 3pm to 9pm. Option to purchase alcoholic drinks. Great location if you are visiting the aquarium or the World Expo this year. 30mins by metro to get to Namba area.
Being charged for holding our luggage. On check out day, there is a 1000 yen charge per luggage if not collected before 2pm.

Breakfast is really bad, we paid for a family of 4, 4 nights over 1500 USD. For that kind of money the breakfast should be very good. There are no clean protein options and many, many empty calorie sugary options. If you don't care about the breakfast then I would highly recommend this hotel, otherwise look elsewhere.
