We loved the location as it was close the the morning market and late night dining. The room was spacious and it was nice to have access To a refrigerator and a shared living area for tea. A great pick for families. We didn’t interact with staff except for check in and check out but they were friendly and helpful. Would recommend

I have stayed at the Rickshaw Inn previously, and enjoyed it so have returned 7 years later. It is exactly how I remembered it to be and we enjoyed our stay this time as well. Staff was excellent and extremely helpful .

There was a kind of step up on entry to the room which seemed a little dangerous to us - my husband fell down this at this one stage.

The location was quiet and convenient, easy walking distance to shops and centre of town. Our room, an older style but not traditional Japanese, was clean and acceptable. Compared to other Japanese accommodation we stayed in, the room was also quite large. It was handy having access to a communal kitchen and dining area, too. The young man who greeted us had adequate English and was helpful and pleasant.

Wifi is not that strong in our room though. Everything else is superb!

The staff was very friendly and did checked in in the comfort of our room. Recommended delicious food to us. Laundry is easy to use. Location is super friendly. We enjoyed our stay so much and we will definitely stay Rickshaw Inn if we ever come to Takayama again.

It could use a little bit of bright light but other than that we enjoyed our stay.

We had the family room for our stay, our room was so spacious! It has the traditional old Japan feel with tatami floor. The location is perfect and staff are so friendly and helpful. The parking for our rented car was just in front of the Inn, it was very convenient. The morning market is just around the corner and the recommended restaurants of the reception are highly recommended!

It's a guest house, the kitchen is down the hall and a bit small, but perfectly serviceable.

Very friendly English-speaking person in reception. Great location near old town and restaurants. Room size not bad. We were luckily located right beside the kitchen. Large, shared lounge if you're wanting more room.

We stayed at Rickshaw Inn last year and liked it so much we returned for 3 nights The common area and kitchen are very comfortable and useful. It was nice to have the coin laundry. The location is great - a 10 min walk to Takayama station and easy to walk anywhere in town. Nice restaurants nearby. Very economical.

Guest rooms are from the third floor so it’s hard to carry heavy luggage. But the staff was helped me so was no problem.

It’s located on a quiet street. Steps back from the busy area but still not far from there. The room was spacious, futons were very comfy and good sized washroom. Interior and amenities were dated, old school look but I really enjoyed somehow. I want to visit Takayama again and will stay here again.

Nothing - a perfect stay!

Super convenient location a short walk from the station and Old Town. Welcoming and friendly staff. Clean, comfortable and spacious room. Gorgeous decor and fantastic shared common room with lounge and kitchen. Bikes available for rent, or there's a great bike shop around the corner. Very highly recommended!

Nothing, it was perfect.

We loved the common room which we had to ourselves most of the time, it felt like we had a whole house. The rooms were really comfortable and location ideal. The main selling point was the staff though, who were very friendly and accommodating. My toddler was provided with a baby futon, which she was super excited about. I enquired about Ta-q-bin luggage transfer service, and they weren’t sure where to direct us initially. They ended up signing up for it and offering the service at the hotel, which was unbelievably accommodating and saved us lot of stress. Thank you!

The japanese traditional room with futon and yukatas. The Sakura room was excelent by my family in the downtown of Takayama. We love It.

I stayed in a western-style twin room. It was spacious, extremely clean and quiet. The bed was wonderful; had one of the best sleeps during my time in Japan. There is also a common area with 24/7 tea and coffee (for a small fee). The manager (owner?) was extremely kind and provided great restaurant recommendations. There is same-day luggage storage, but not in a locked room. However, given how safe Japan is overall, I had no concerns. The inn is within a 6-minute walk from bus and train stations and the morning market, and 7-minute walk from the old town. Highly recommend.

This is a great place to stay - comfortable, reasonable and friendly. Great facilities for cooking and washing - we could have stayed a week (but they were so busy we could only get one night!)
