Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe really enjoyed our stay at the Richmond Fukushima Hotel Ekimae. We arrived by train from Nikko, and we had left a piece of luggage behind. The staff at the Richmond were so helpful in contacting the Nikko hotel and arranging for the forwarding of that luggage to Fukushima. We really enjoyed the breakfast at the hotel. The rooms were on the smaller side, but very clean and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again.

AustraliaNote - be mindful when you book, there are 2 sides to Fukushima station. You have to go underground to get to the other side, which also has different shops etc.
Very friendly and helpful staff, self check in via their screens is nice and easy and you can print our multiple cards for your friends. The rooms were very spacious by Japanese standards, all 3 of us could open our luggage at the same time in the room! Bathroom was also nice. Comfy beds, clean room and quiet surroundings made for a perfect stay.

AustraliaI left my glasses here but didn't hear anything about them. Yet the train lost and found tracked our lost souvenir bag on the shinkansen.
Clean warm, comfortable and right next to the train station. Nice to walk to shops in the station. Breakfast you get a choice. We tried the Japanese breakfast which is very different with fish, fermented beans... but did have some eggs and bread rolls. Our kids opted for the voucher which was used on a very generous Maccas (big M) breakfast. Nice free bath salts and toiletries in the foyer.

SingaporeThere was a lack of clear information on the hotel’s facilities. The guide on the TV seemed to still be under construction, leaving some details unclear. Additionally, while the hotel’s proximity to the station is convenient, the few uncovered steps between the hotel and the station could be an issue during rainy weather, as there’s no shelter to protect you from getting wet.
The hotel’s location is fantastic—situated right beside Fukushima Station, making it extremely convenient for travellers. Being surrounded by numerous shops and restaurants added a lot of variety and convenience during my stay. The room was a standout feature. It was spacious, clean, and felt new, with large twin beds that were very comfortable. The enormous, modern TV added a luxurious touch. The bathroom was also impressive, offering plenty of space and a proper bathtub where I could stretch my legs and relax. Another highlight was the staff, who were exceptionally friendly and helpful, ensuring that my stay was pleasant and hassle-free.

AustraliaBeds too hard, pillows too soft. Staff provided an alternate pillow, which was better. On leaving we saw most rooms on our floor, checking out had also got a different pillow. Sink was very close to toilet, which made it difficult to access the toilet, for my very tall husband.
Good location, reasonably priced

AustraliaI was surprised and shocked to wait in line for having breakfast, but probably it depends on the time. The tray was wet and waitresses seemed not well-trained. I presume the restaurant is not managed by hotel but rented out to tenant, and the waitresses are not hotel staff.
I love this hotel.

CanadaGet out of the station turn right! Amazing hotel staff. Well equipped place. 10/10! I took some free bath salt this hotel provided to bath and found a little restaurant nearby on the other side of the station for goyza. Fukushima is known for their ramen, goyza, and red miso katsu. For those who complain about food, it’s Japan, food is every 50 metres and better than anything I’ve had in over 20 countries. The room is small because it’s Japan but I find this hotel spacious because I got a bigger bed. Not only the gentleman at the front desk spoke English, he printed a local map and train station map for me. I have been all over Europe, United States, and Australia and for 3times the amount of price I paid over this hotel, I have gotten way worse service and amenities. This is in Fukushima and they still provided the best they could. For all the visitors that expects Japan to cater to your language pander to your needs from another country…..try that elsewhere. Anyway, the station has a pretty cute local bakery across from McDonald’s. A large pharmacy and an entire S-pal market to go through for snacks and food. Not that I don’t already know this, the entire nation is so full of varieties of foods, beverages, and washroom, you can never go hungry, thirsty or restriction to relieve yourself literally every half km. Take this station bus from the other side using underground passage via elevator to a bus area. take number 10 bus to Aizu wakamatsu the samurai town. Or take the train to Yamagata for yamadera and Zao onsen. Or take the train to Sendai and do all the day trips there. Everything is easy and convenient.

AustraliaI enjoyed everything about this hotel
Great location so close to the station. This hotel is well appointed, comfortable and so convenient. We chose this hotel for its easy access to trains. From here we were able to visit Matsushima and take a cruise around the islands - a must see if you visit Japan. We were also able to easily access the Nihonmatsu Lantern Festival by train from Fukushima. A highlight of the festival is the procession of festival floats during the first evening. Several large festival floats adorned with lanterns and filled with locals playing taiko drums make their way through the streets of Nihonmatsu City. There was music and street stalls offering a variety of food and drinks. It was a vibrant, happy experience - and so easy to attend from this hotel.

AustraliaBathroom layout is a little small - the door opens up against the toilet. Washing machines were always busy.
Location was great - right next to the train station and restaurants. Car rental was 100m away. Rooms were large with a big window. We had Youtube and Netflix available. Free toiletries were available. A subsidised car park fee was available via the hotel.

United StatesRooms were quite small which is typical in Japan. Beds not too comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was kind of a mess by the time we got there. It seemed like it wasn't replenished very often.
We were just there for a night, it's right next to the train station so very convenient. Basic three-star hotel, nothing wrong with it at all.
