Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere are a number of international people employed by the lodge. They're all very helpful and friendly, but one of them was sick or not feeling well and it could be felt when you see them interacting with others and yourself. Perhaps it is because it was near the end of the ski season and people are tired, but there was a distinct lack of sincerity from some of the western workers compared to interacting with the japanese hosts who were always smiling or provided responses with care.
This property blew our mind. The primary hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. It was a cross of having a Ryokan vibe mixed with a Ski Lodge as there are shared facilities, an indoor bath, and very well thought out amenities which made it one of our most memorable stays with a homey vibe. Very cosy, very clean! The food they provided was amazing too as the breakfast was very tasty! We went in March and the sound of melting snow throughout the night was one of the the most tranquil experiences we had that we will hold onto forever.

United StatesThe simplicity of the room and lack of lighting options (a single overhead fixture only) makes it feel a little like a hostel than many hotel rooms we have stayed in. However, they were clean with lots of storage and we would definitely stay again.
Great to have a free breakfast included! Good location - a 5 min walk from the main street and 10 minutes from the slopes. Friendly, helpful, English speaking staff. Rooms very simple, but clean with lots of storage for suitcases and gear. Ski storage and boot-warming room available on-site. Offer shuttle service (with a fee) to Iiyama train station. Super helpful setting up gear transport through Yamato. The beds are traditional Japanese mats on the floor.

SingaporeFemale Bathroom shower water and onsen water was inconsistent, there were days when it was too hot, and there were days when it was too cold. WiFi was terrible in one room. Drying room could not dry our gear in time for the next day. Our room lights were not all working.
Location was close to the slopes and food options. It was close to the bus stop as well. There was free apples which was great to have after a long day of snowboarding. The breakfast was so good, the quiche and the live station preparing pancakes and omelette were the bomb. Fresh pastries were also delightful. The staff were very friendly and approachable

AustraliaThe walls are thin, if you have neighbours that are making noise late at night or upstairs neighbours walking around you will hear it. For the most part, everyone in the lodge was very respectful of keeping noise down during quiet times
The location proximity to the Main Street and access to the ski lifts was exceptional. A short walk uphill to get to the ski lift, but that is normal considering the layout of the town. 5-10 minutes walk with all of our gear

AustraliaHard to fault, we absolutely loved our stay and nothing about it didn't meet or exceed our expectations.
We absolutely loved our stay here, the staff were super friendly and helpful, the place was very clean and felt like a great traditional ryokan experience. Location was fantastic too, easy walk to both restaurants and the ski lifts.

Australiathere was nothing I didnt like
Loved the location of this Lodge, it was an easy to walk to the township - 3-5mins and to the gondola - 10mins The staff were very helpful - lots of English speaking staff. The room was large and warm and comfortable. The breakfast was good with an omelette station and pancake station. There was a vending machine for soft drinks and beers which was convenient, along with a washing machine and dryer and a water cooler which was nice after a long day skiing.

AustraliaYou had to wait for everybody to go to bed, otherwise when people were above your room or walking past your room, it was loud thumping noises. You did get used to it after a while. It didn’t put me off by booking this again. Maybe they need signs on the doors to be a bit more respectful of other guests.
The room was big and comfy beds. The staff were amazing and always so helpful. Breki was excellent and so much variety.
