How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff went out of the way to decorate our room for a 43rd wedding anniversary. That was very special and meant a lot to us.

Verified reviewThe bathroom was very nice and spacious. The hotel itself is in a very convenient location. It is in a quiet place that is close to the train station and there is plenty to do and eat in the area.
We booked a room for two adults and two young children and upon arrival saw that only two pillows were provided. When we asked the staff at the front desk my wife was abruptly told that there were not enough pillows in the hotel for everyone and they gave us 1 extra pillow only. Needless to say they simply did not want to provide another pillow to us and we all had to share 3 pillows for the entirety of our stay. If we had known this before we would of course not have booked this hotel as there are plenty in the area to choose from. It's quite unbelievable that a hotel has this attitude towards guests to be honest and whilst we did not make a fuss at the time, we feel that others should be aware when choosing hotels in the area (especially international travelers and families). The staff were quite cold throughout our stay. The room was also extremely dusty. For some reason there was a lot of dust floating in the room which was not very pleasant.

Verified reviewRooms are clean and more or less spacious. Furniture is looking modern and contemporary, definitely feels more luxury at the first glance. Beds are very comfortable and on the firmer side, which is always important. Very nicely equipped bathroom. Modern, spacious, divided section for bath/shower and rest of the bathroom. The location is great, nearby the train station, nearby Isezaki Mall, but very calm.
While this accommodation seemed to get high ratings a few years back, it seems like it does not get the maintenance it would deserve to keep the standard - some equipment feels worn out, batteries in some equipment were drained, etc. Air conditioning was very loud and squeaky, plus blowing air directly onto the bed. We have started to use it later at night, so we did not ask for any fix, unfortunately it resulted in a very poor sleep. No other possibility to get air into the room - windows were locked. The light was very poor, combined with overall dark furniture it felt dark all the time. Since bath and shower share the tap for volume and temperature, it is harder to manipulate with it from the bath.

Verified reviewGreat location!
Hallways got very muggy as their was only AC in the rooms. This is typical for Japanese hotels but did make the wait for the elevator a little sweaty.

Verified reviewI liked the design, the dark walls and size of the room. I liked the complementary pyjamas. Very comfy.
They have very late check in and don’t let you get in even 5 minutes early. They didn’t provide an iPad that controls everything such as wifi details, room service and air con. The bidet and air con did not work no matter how hard we tried.

Verified reviewNeat, clean affordable modern facilities. Very conveniently close to Kannai subway st exit 9. Easy automated check in & check out. Polite helpful staff. Internet was fine.
Had booked a ryokan to have a Kaiseki dinner but was informed just before arrival that kitchen was closed for refurbishment so no dinner or breakfast. (refund was automatically applied) but it was after cancelation date, precluding booking a different Ryokan elsewhere. Note that all rooms have very low height futon like beds that fill in the room and are a bit difficult to maneuver in if you have bad knees/any mobility issue at all. Comfortable sleeping, just a challenge for older guests. Information tablet in room, despite having an "English" option, was of little use as much of the detailed content was still in Japanese.

Verified reviewAlthough the accommodations weren't the most comfortable or spacious, I'd have to say that the staff were amazing. They were as helpful as they could be...
The beds are super FIRM, they only provide one pillow per person, after requesting for 2 extra pillows and an extra blanket, they were only able to provide a furry blanket. The down comforter on the bed you're not able to pull up towards your face, it's literally stuck to the bottom. The towels are only one per person no extra towels are provided. When the room was cleaned every 4 days, they don't wipe the toilet seats, which I found very strange.
