Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Australia- For sure it’s getting harder and harder to book a room, because the place is such great value at an amazing location.
Honestly, don’t want to write this review, because once word gets out, I’m sure this hotel will be booked out continuously. Just an amazing hotel, stay and experience here. - 10 minutes walk from Kyoto Station, but there is a LUUP rental and parking spot right next door; - Amazing facilities; clean modern coin laundry, onsite bar/restaurant, small private sento/onsen, modern clean communal kitchen, an amazing library and art space; - Has movie screenings in evening (mostly avant garde art and international movies); - The library/art/relax space is just amazing to chill; - Design is similar to a modern 5* Hotel (think Frank Lloyd Wright, Andaz or Park Hyatt); - Room was small but super clean, comfortable, fast internet and nice mini-fridge and air-conditioning; - Staff were all superb, fast, friendly and efficient; - Located on a street chock full of high-end but also reasonably priced eateries, cafes and 7-Eleven a couple of minutes walk away.

PolandOne member of stuff decided not to explain the facilities and activities offered, the water offered in b1 is always warm and not allowed to use the cold one from 1st fl.
Very good stay. Nice lounge. Good cocktail bar and sofas on b1 to hang out with friends. Possible to store luggage. Towels and other necessities are free to take within need. Possible to do cooking/ laundry if needed tho drier only 10 min and multiple cycles needed. Bathroom is specious and sink is outside so if friend stuck in bathroom, sink help out to brush teeth etc. Location of socket near bed is also nice. Location of hotel is close to station so very close reach to main areas by bus

ItalyJust one suggestion: facilities for making tea/coffee in the room would be appreciated.
Nice hotel close to the station. Rooms in the norm for Japanese standards. A bit smallish but clean, quiet and cosy. The plus of the hotel are the common spaces: a spacious common kitchen with comfortable tables, a living room, a library that can become a kino in the evening. Friendly staff. Good value for money.

United KingdomIt was perfect.
The staff were fantastic! As a solo traveller, it was great to have an open area to chill in after a day of exploring the city. Whether that be in the kitchen on the basement level or the lounge on level 1. The movie night is a great idea and the library was beautiful in itself. Sadly, my language skills are not up to scratch to read most of the literature.

TaiwanThe room was little bit smelly, I couldn’t see the view outside from my window, which was kinda annoying and pity.
The staff was friendly, and iced water was offered in the front desk.

GermanyThe rooms are really compact. No daylight in the room which did not make it easy to overcome the jet lag
Perfect location near the Kyoto central station. Friendly personnel. There is a library and movie shows in the evening. You can get drinking water in the common kitchen which we found very helpful.

United StatesBasically no. Probably there were certain periods like in the afternoon there was no hot water for showering. But probably that’s common for Japan.
Great location, close to train station. The style is modern, and staff’s English was quite fluent, good for people from Western countries especially first time. (And I do notice a high proportion of Westerners.) Kitchen is self service, good for bringing food from outside. Laundry is equipped with 4 washers and driers, it was almost essential to have it to travel light, especially in the summer. We had a bunk bed the room was small but it’s enough for smaller size individuals and the price matched it. As everywhere else in Japan the toilet comes with the bidet and shower is very clean.

Looks absolutely beautiful, both inside and out. The library is fantastic to just look at. The room was small but supremely comfortable, with good air-conditioning. Best shower I have experienced in Japan!

NetherlandsThe best thing about this property is their kitchen that’s free to use! They have complete amenities and condiments. The rooms are small but that’s typical in big cities in Japan. Its a 10minute walk from the Kyoto Station.

JapanI really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Not only is the location wonderful and quite close to the station, but the hotel itself is so clean and pretty. They offer a nice breakfast for a decent price in the morning, but there are also many cafes nearby to try too! Overall, my time at TUNE STAY KYOTO felt very comfortable and peaceful.

United KingdomGreat location, 8 minutes walk from JR Kyoto train station, subway and main bus station. Good wifi, common kitchen and laundry facilities. Clean and neat rooms. Ours was a bunk bed with good size bed space, private shower and toilet. Family Mart convenience store a few minutes walk away and many places to eat. Helpful staff. They let you store luggage for the day. What's not to like!

BrazilIt’s all clean and new! Very nice room. The hotel is near the main station and there’s everything you need nearby, like restaurants and coffee shops, convenience stores and many other stores. And there’s also bus stops nearby, so it’s really easy to access the main points of the city.
