Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The host was very nice and helpful even though he wasn’t very experienced with English. He always prepared a hot bath tub for when we returned. The place was clean and welcoming. The tennis court was also very nice.

AustraliaLocation and accommodation are amazing. The host went above and beyond by offering to drive us from the train station when we got lost late at night (don't use Google Maps, instead go to the Booking.com website and select 'Get Directions' for accurate navigation). Kawazu is a beautiful, peaceful area and the waterfalls were accessible by bus and a short walk. Highly recommend.

BrazilA quiet and clean place with a few rooms for those looking for privacy. A real experience of staying in a small japanese town not so crowded with tourists. Close to a good public onsen and a natural thermal where you can relax soaking your feet in warming waters. Also close to the bus stop that takes to the 7 waterfalls park. I am very grateful to the owner who had sent me by international post a collectors item I could only find in Japan and forgot at the hotel.

My stay was fantastic! The location was stunning, and the rooms were both tidy and spacious. Our host was incredibly kind and helpful, even allowing us to check in earlier than expected. Since it's a small town and many places close around 4:30 PM, the host went above and beyond by offering us a ride to Seven Waterfall, ensuring we didn’t miss out on the experience. They drove us to the perfect spot, and without their help, we likely would have missed it. Truly a memorable stay.

AustraliaWe travelled to Kawazu in mid-summer to go to the 7 Waterfalls (which was amazing, you MUST do it when you're there, and make sure you go in the onsen at the bottom waterfall... a highlight of our trip to Japan). The host was lovely, friendly, and gave us plenty of privacy. It's quite a walk from the station, and if going again I would get a taxi or bus with our big suitcases (we walked... it was ok, very flat, but quite a long way). The room was nice, the aircon worked well, and we had space to eat and prepare our food from the supermarket in town. The facilities are a little old, but everything is clean, neat, and works properly. The house is linked into the local geothermal water system so that the bath that the host prepares in the evening is proper onsen water, completely private, and great for people who might otherwise not be able to attend onsens because of tattoos. The town is so quiet and sleepy at this time of year. Friday night there wasn't even anyone driving around! If you're travelling around Japan this is a great place to stay, as it's not the big city type experience. We don't speak Japanese, but this was not a problem.

Portugalit was a really nice stay. The host is respectful and helpful. I felt very comfortable. it's not that easy to reach if you don't have a car but it's worth it if you're staying in Kawazu. I used as base to explore also the Seven Falls and Shimoda.

AustraliaThe host went out of his way to make us feel welcomed and even personally drove us up to the Waterfall that we had come to Kawazu to see. He made us coffee each morning. The water from the bath is from the Mine Onsen which is a local Onsen. There is also a Tennis court. He is the loveliest man we met in Japan.

United KingdomThe owner is humble, helpful, polite, kind, respectful, generous man. He gave us a ride to the 7 waterfalls as well he gave us a ride back to the train station because it was pouring rain on the day of our departure. The suit we stayed at was traditional Japanese and we had a private onsen just for us 2 on request. It was magical experience. The owner shared with us his fruits from his garden. Unique experience the best in Japan. We wish him all the very best and long and happy life.

The owner speaker little English but we managed to understand each other and he is really nice. He prepared the onsen bath for us. The accommodation is nice and clean.
