The view from the room was incredible, we were overlooking the valley and could see the snow capped ranges. There are electric bikes for 500 yen so you can visit Takayama or one of the nearby villages. The staff were incredibly nice and looked after us. There are also bath facilities, perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking

The hosts were really helpful and friendly. The place is really clean and well kept. I liked that I could rent their e-bike, which offered me the flexibility to go to the city center.

The place could use some nice decorative touch. It's now very basic in atmosphere and it lacks a space where you can sit and relax and drink a tea or read.

Would be useful to have washing up liquid and crockery and cutlery in the kitchen.

The room are equipped with aircon and heater, there is a sink but tap water is not drinkable. Beds are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are downstairs. There is a kitchen with fridge and microwave, separate toilets on the floor. Bath towels are provided. It is quiet at night. But you can hear neighbors...

There is a fuel smell in the common area. The room walls need a fresh coat of paint. There is no effort on decoration. Bottle water is not provided (there is a vending machine instead). The location is isolated in top of hill in the countryside, far away from tourists attractions, driving is a must.

It was very nice, spacious, and comfortable. The hosts were incredibly kind and friendly. They went above and beyond to assist us with our trip. Without their help and the drop-off at the station, our trip would have been totally different and not as smooth as it was. Additionally, there is a Japanese-style hot tub in each bathroom. It was amazing to relax the body there after a full day of hiking.

The only downside was the location, which is a bit far from the downtown area. However, there is a taxi service from the downtown taxi station, which is close to the bus terminal. It costs around 2000 yen to reach Oyado Raku.

I had a warm welcome, the owners are super friendly and available. The place is very nice and I really enjoyed the onsen. I had the chance to wash my clothes with a small fee, and after my check out they kindly bring me to the train station.

The only thing that was a little unpleasant for me is the separate bathroom, from my room I had to walk downstairs.

The owners are a lovely couple, they were extremely welcoming and helpful! The room was comfortable and had a nice view. The bathrooms were clean and the tubs downstairs were excellent.

There is no public transportation to the city, but the lovely hosts gave us rides when they could!

This property is on the outskirts of town so you need a car which we had - with a navigator. It was a little tricky to find at first but when heading back into town the next morning via a different route it was closer than we first thought so probaly not all that expensive to reach via taxi. The property is surprisingly commodius, clean and comfortable. Our room had twin beds and a sitting area with two armchairs, a desk and TV and a wash basin. The room was one of the larger ones we'd experienced during our whole trip. The modern well equipped bathrooms are shared yet still private- i.e. you can enjoy sole use, one or two people at a time and include showers and a small heated plunge bath. There are also separate shared toilets and a common open shared washbasin area. Upper floors are reached via a steel circular staircase making them a little difficult to reach with bulky luggage. There is also a shared well equipped and clean eat-in kitchen. Rooms are air conditioned & well insulated - beds are comfy supplied with a lovely fluffy doona and decent pillows

nothing really - would be happy to stay there again

Absolutely good service and hospitality. I was offered a ride to the station early in the morning. Also, I left my glasses in the room and they sent it to my next hotel. All of these are without additional charge.

The route from the bus station was very dark. There is no obvious sign to lead us to accomodation beside google map.

Close to so many incredible activities in the Hida mountains, this was a great home base for female solo travel. Incredible owners, comfy rooms and oh the big deep baths. They hired me an e-bike and I was easily able to explore Takayama township and the nearby folk village. Such a gorgeous space, I hope to bring my mother here one day.

I wasn’t prepared for how far it was from the train station. Pre-book a taxi on arrival or hire a car for the best results.

The place is very nice, good view and lovely owners. Very clean and it may be far from the train station, they kindly offered me a ride to go to the city and come back. They also have an electric bike to rent for the day. I could leave my luggages before check-in for free. Quick answer via the app. The bathroom is a japanese traditional one, with a shower side and a bath side. I got a nice view from my room, very pleasant

Be careful to the name on Google maps, written in japanese. It is a bit far from the train station by foot. There are also some buses that can get you closer from the hotel (12min walk) but I was there during the festival period so they were not running during my stay.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The facilities were modest, but clean.

The place is a bit far from the city center (around 3.5 km), but it did the job during the Takayama Spring festival.

Clean and comfortable accommodation about 40 mins walk from Takayama centre. Good bathroom, fridge, microwave and hot water available to guests.

No public transport to the accommodation. It is a lovely walk to and from town which is fine when you don't have luggage but when I arrived the only way was to pay for a taxi. The owners very kindly gave me a lift back to the train station when I checked out though.

Large room with very comfy beds and a view in a very quiet and pretty location. Our host and hostess couldn’t do enough for us - they were very friendly, helpful and courteous, as were their two little boys. For anyone wanting a more personalized and authentic stay in Takayama than a modern hotel can provide, this is the place for you!

    Everything was perfect!
