How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

I liked everything although I probably wouldn't do a long stay on a futon

Verified reviewIt is a really lovely family run inn. The room we stayed in was quite spacious and they also have a private onsen. The doonas were very thick and cozy. Highlight for us was the breakfast and dinner meals. Delicious japanese style meals and very filling.
We stayed in a Japanese style room with futons which is something we wanted to experience but might not be for everyone. Same as the shared showering /bathing area as it is japanese style, but if you want to try something culturally different go for it. There is a 10:30pm curfew which is understandable but not ideal if you’re looking to stay out late.

Our inn offers Japanese meals as an option. We serve dishes that we have created in addition to our own grown vegetables and homemade rice. This is Japanese cuisine unique to Japan. Our inn's curfew is 10:30 p.m. However, if you inform the staff in advance, we will try to allow you to go out after 10:30 p.m. as much as possible. (*^^*) However, small children are also staying at our inn. We strive to provide a safe and secure inn, so we would like you to stay quietly in your room after 10:30 p.m. as much as possible. The location is also convenient, as it is next to the main street and also only a short walk to the ski slopes. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Verified reviewThe owner and his family was very friendly and hospitable to us, despite the language barrier. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and even helped us on our way when we were rushing for a ski lesson at the ski school. Oyado Nozawaya has its own private onsen if you prefer not to go to the public baths. We also opted for dinner on one of the nights and it was a wonderful experience with all the dishes cooked using produce from the owner's own farms. Overall, we felt like we were staying in a ryokan just without the yukata.
The Nagasaka gondola station is quite a bit of a uphill walk from Oyado Nozawaya, however it is right in the middle of the onsen town where the restaurants and public baths are, and not too far from the Chuo bus terminal too.

We are very glad that we were able to help you, even if only a little. In addition, we use our own grown vegetables and as many local ingredients as possible for our cuisine, and with the motto of "serve hot food while it's still hot," we strive to create a guesthouse that satisfies our guests. Although the location of the guesthouse is a little far from the ski resort, it is in the center of the hot spring town, so it is in a great location near restaurants and bus stops. After checking out of our guesthouse, I believe you went to Toyama Prefecture. Toyama Prefecture is now also a very popular tourist spot. Did you enjoy this packed trip?
