Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaThe owner was incredibly attentive, kind, and helpful. The level of service and interaction was extraordinary. The beds were comfortable, and the space was perfect for our family. This was a perfect introduction to Japan and Japanese hospitality. Close to the metro line, easy access from the airport. Would stay here again.

AustraliaOzaki made us feel so at home. He was like an uncle to us. From providing us with extensive restaurant recommendations to checking in on us daily, we felt well looked after. The room was beautifully designed and the size of it meant that we did not feel like we were on top of each other constantly. The ryokan was in a quiet area but conveniently located near nice restaurants and the subway station. It was nice to be away from the craziness of Dotonbori and Namba but it was just a 30 minute walk at most to those areas (of course, quicker on the train but we like to walk). We really recommend doing the complimentary kimono photoshoot. Ozaki's collection of kimonos were works of art, constructed of heavy silk with stunning embroidery. You won't get to see kimonos like these at an average store - maybe only in a museum. It was interesting to learn more about the significance of these kimonos and Japanese culture in general from Ozaki.

United StatesThe Ryokan is immaculate and serene. Everything inside is like new and modern. Though beside a highway we couldn’t hear a thing. Ozaki San really cares for his guests and makes our stay perfect. We received so much help and warm gestures during our three day stay, and we already feel like having a close friend in Osaka. My daughter cannot wait to go back. Ukiyoe ryokan is home away from home.

We had an amazing time staying at this ryokan. In fact this was the highlight of our 9 days in Japan. Our host, Mr. Ozaki and his lovely wife made sure that we experienced the REAL Japan! Every corner of this ryokan is filled with surprises and history. My family will always remember this moment staying at this awesome place. There were great restaurants / 7- eleven just around the corner, Dotonbori is just a 10 to 15 minute taxi ride. You will not regret staying at this place.

Lovely little Ryokan’s, tucked away but still very central. Nice large space for a family. Had everything we needed. Amazing, hospitable host that helped with restaurant bookings and also arranged a really fun photo shoot.

United StatesThere were no dislikes or problems during our stay.
The hospitality given by our host was beyond anything I've ever experienced. Ozaki paid attention to every detail to ensure our stay met our expectations. Every service, including the photo shoot donning traditional Japanese Armor for my son and a beautiful Kimono for me. We enjoyed it so much, and it was fun! Ozaki was in constant communication with me to ensure we arrived and settled in without any problems. If you don't stay at the Ryokan, you are missing on the best experience in Osaka! When I return to Osaka, I will definitely stay there again. The location was good and walkable.

United StatesA small nitpick would be that the washer and dryer can take about 1.5 hours each for a load. Not a big deal for us since we would do a load either really morning or late at night, but something to keep in mind.
The owner and staff really care about their customers and will do all that they can to make their stay a comfortable and stress-free one. If you have any questions or need help with restaurant reservations or recommendations, you can contact the owner, Ozaki, directly and he will help immediately. The room itself is different from other hotel rooms and is very much a traditional Japanese inn. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the room was very spacious. We also liked the separate living room with low table and tatami mats because it felt very local. The room is decorated with various Japanese items and art. The bathroom and shower were also clean. We especially liked how there was a washer/dryer combo as well as a small kitchen. Overall, this was a highlight of our trip because of the customer service and how it was different (in a good way) from your typical hotel. I world definitely stay here again while visiting Osaka!

United StatesHaving to leave. We loved this place, no complaints!
10/10. This wonderful Ryokan was the best place we stayed in Japan and easily one of the best places we have stayed in our life. Osaka Ukiyoe Ryokan felt like a home away from home and the owners (Ozaki and his family) made us feel like family. The rooms are charming and thoughtful and have everything one could want. We stayed in the Mt. Fuji room and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sleep on tatami mats. We also enjoyed the rare chance to try on samurai and traditional wedding attire (Irouchikake). The place is centrally located and very close to the train station and many eateries. We loved the neighborhood bakery (Utsubo Bakery Panena) so much we went twice! Although the inn is near the highway, it’s located on a quiet street. It’s very easy to get around the city from the inn. As mentioned above, Ozaki made us feel like family. During the trip, my husband got sick. Upon hearing, Ozaki went to the pharmacy and got him medicine without us asking. It was truly above and beyond and we were touched by his kindness. This place is one of the finest examples of Japanese hospitality and kindness and we wholeheartedly recommend Osaka Ukiyoe Ryokan!

United KingdomWe stayed in several ryokan in Japan and this was by far the best. Our host Osaki went above and beyond to help us before, during and after our stay. The beds were the most comfortable out of all our locations. Osaki arranged taxis and we were showered with Japanese gifts which we will treasure. And then he gave us a fun photo shoot dressing up in Samurai and Kimono clothing. He's just great! the location is excellent. If you are visiting Osaka stay here, The decor of the whole place is beautiful and you feel like you really are experiencing Japan at its best. I cannot fault it.

A family party of 3(with our adult daughter). Our daughter visited Osaka 20 months ago. We all agree to service from his heart and will go extra thousand miles for his guest. 2. home away from home. 3. Ozaki San helped us reserve a restaurant in our list(usually a long waiting list) . We arrived in Japan during golden week & Expo in Osaka We stayed at world luxury hotels before, every service will have add on. He is full of local knowledge of Osaka and Nara- you will not be disappointed. I booked this place based on reviews, and feeling 110%. happy with this accommodation.

SwitzerlandThe owner was extremely helpful, even well before our arrival — for example, by giving us advice about nearby restaurants. He took the time to explain every aspect of the apartment, from the light switches to making tea. You get the full ryokan experience, with low beds and a traditional table. He even offered a photo session with samurai armor and kimono dressing. Two pieces of advice: - These are ryokan-style apartments, not a hotel. There’s nothing that distinguishes the building from a regular residential one, but the given address is correct. It's important to inform the owner of your arrival time in advance so he can be there to greet you. He is very responsive and flexible. - The nearby subway station is large. It’s wise to pay attention to the entrance number suggested by Google Maps; otherwise, you may spend quite some time getting to the right platform, especially if you're carrying luggage up and down stairs.

United StatesWe booked this location because it was convenient to the subway station in Honmachi in Osaka. Centrally located, it was ideal for our purposes. After receiving permission a few weeks prior, we were able to drop off our luggage well before the checkin time. The accommodations were fun as well as practical -- quite a pleasant experience. We were provided nice tips on restaurants in the area. Great communications ahead of our stay allowed us to plan. We didn't use it but the avaiability of a washing machine as well as instructions in English was great.
