JapanThis is not a complaint, but a suggestion. I did not see a note explaining the proper way to use the "cold box." It was not clear, but it seemed as if ice should be put on one side and food on the other. Could you add a note to the "ice box" explaining how to use it? I`ve never seen one of them before.
I had a single room that was efficiently laid out. I appreciated the fan in the bathroom. The soap, shampoo, and conditioner were effective, easy to rinse off, and without a cloying, heavy perfume. The "cold box" appeared to need ice on one side and food on the other side. The pillows were comfortable. The staff were great at finding the perfect location for my room. I smoke and asked to be situated near a smoking "booth" - a small room with good airflow, ashtrays, and closed off so the smoke doesn`t get into the hallway. They put me across the hall from one of these rooms. All rooms are non-smoking, so I was glad to have convenient access to one of these special rooms. They are located on several floors. While smoking is frowned upon by most people, it is nice to know that smokers have a place to go and the smoke will not bother anyone else. Although I can speak a little Japanese, they quickly located a bilingual staff member to make communication easy. He even offered me his personal phone number in case of problems after he left (I thanked him but didn`t take it, as I think people should not be expected to work outside of their planned schedule). The rest of the staff used translation apps. The breakfast was incredible. It was a buffet with a wide range of food: I had salad, yogurt, dessert, bacon, eggs, miso soup, rice, curry, steamed dumplings, salmon, mackerel, fruit salad, and a variety of casseroles. The pork/tomato sauce/cheese casserole was especially tasty. This is only what I sampled - I avoid carbs and there were several containers with bread and similar items. Both times I had breakfast, I didn`t feel hungry again until dinnertime. I needed business documents completed and chose to do this at a quiet time the night before I left rather than at checkout time when the staff would be busy. They were surprised but completed the special forms at my request. The staff were cheerful and helpful.

Exceptional value for money. Check in process was swift and easy. They have many leaflets with details in English about anyttyoj may need to ask about. The free curry and drinks at dinner were very tasty and although I missed the breakfast so can't comment on the quality, r is also included for free. So that's dinner and breakfast for free, as well as an onsen and laundry facilities on the top floor. Really can't fault it. It's probably the best budget hotel I've ever stayed at. Top Marks! If you're in Shizuoka, it would be silly not to stay here.
