Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThe hotel is a bit dated. It is clean but the furniture and the house are old.
The rooms were very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located directly at the Okushiga Kogen Ski lift and it is possible to rent gear at the hotel. The breakfast was good.

SingaporeRooms, bathrooms and ski locker room could do with an update or better maintenance. The “Single room” bathroom is very tiny and not comfortable to use. Could not find any photos of the bathroom online otherwise we would not have booked this category of room if we had known the size of the bathroom. Luckily they were able to change to a larger room (with a top up of the difference in room price). “Deluxe room” bathroom size is ok but shower water ran hot/cold which was very uncomfortable to use, had to shower at the onsen instead of in our room’s attached bathroom.
Convenient ski in ski out property with hearty spread for breakfast. We enjoyed the teppanyaki dinner which was pricey but good quality. Onsite onsen was convenient, clean and comfortable to use

Australiaran out of beer in the vending machine, then did not fill it up for three days. Also, the barman could try and be a little less grumpy, the days that he had off and other people managed the bar were much more relaxing.
ski out the door, cool mid century vibe - with 70's room. beautiful scenery. great breakfast and the 1/2board not too shabby as well.

AustraliaDinner bookings hard to get, meals were not very good and very over priced. Restaurant staff didn’t seem to know what they were doing and desperately need training. Bar staff at lounge were very slow and need training.
Old but very Well maintained hotel. Spacious rooms and front desk staff were very accommodating. Great location for skiing but if you’re not skiing there isn’t anything else to do.

AustraliaThe booking of dinner choices needs improvement. Hotel asked for preferences prior to arrrival but despite multiple emails there was no acknowledgement. Upon arrival dinner options had not been arranged and the whole process seemed disorganised and took time and multiple interactions during the stay to make the arrangements. On three of seven nights we had to wait for a call to come to the resturant as they were overbooked. While the service from Yoshi at the front desk and Micheal in the French resturant was very good, service from other staff was variable. That said, most seem to be trying their best. An offer to assist with luggage on departure would have been appreaciated. This is a great place to come skiing but there is zero to do in the evenings and prebooking of dinners is essential. The quality of the wine on the menu but was expensive. FYI Corkage for BYO was 4400Yen/bottle whereas a good red wine was 8400Yen. Breakfast was passable. Eggs can be cooked to order but there is no signage that indicates this. The meal in small Teppan resturant was very average. The chef overcooked the lobster to the point it was just a mash and there was limited engagement with the six dinners. Definitely not of the same high standard as the the other Japanese food and certainly not worth paying the extra supplement to attend. The public areas of the property look a bit tatty and are sorely in need of renewal. However, everything worked and it was comfortable.
Our three Japanese dinners were consistently outstanding. French was very good on two nights and ok on a third. Back to breakfast, bread and pasterries were good. Property was very comfortable. Good size room, shower over bath, good water pressure, the onsen is large ans while the water not hot enough for me, my wife thought it was perfect. Yoshi's service as the front desk was excellent. Complementary access to the excellent sauna and 20 metre indoor pool at asjacent hotel was an unexpected bonus. The location is great for accesss to the slopes. I would highly recommend the half board option as the included dinners are very good.

AustraliaThe wait staff spoke very little (no English) and some very poor service. Some good so just hit and miss. The lounge bar had a very rude staff member who walked around with a message on his phone saying if you want to sit here you have to order a drink. That is simply not acceptable. It’s not a cheap hotel and the bar lounge is one of only 2 common areas to sit at night with kids. I was disgusted by this and complained to management. Unacceptable. The breakfast was not up to standard for a hotel of this price bracket and they regularly ran out of items. The hot baths are ok but not great. It’s not an onsen and there is no outdoor bath. The teppanyaki was good food but the chef didn’t do any show so it was a waste of money really. The ceiling height in the bathroom is low. I’m 6”4 and my head was grazing the ceiling.
The front desk staff were helpful and spoke some English. The standard room size was good for Japan. The French and Japanese dinners were good but we had half board so not sure of the price as I think they may be a bit expensive for what they are. The rental ski shop and ski lockers are part of the hotel so very convenient. The location is very good. The entire hotel is interconnected and very warm so jeans and t shirt fine at night time in winter. Genuine ski in ski out very good location.

AustraliaThe food options are very very expensive. We had dinner in the Japanese restaurant which was a set menu. Our 5yo son had a kids plate which was nice, but our 7yo was too old for this and had to have the set menu which was very authentic Japanese. Nothing wrong with that but she ate literally nothing (and she’s not a fussy eater) and it was $66 for her. The whole dinner cost us over $300AUD. The Raclette was better for us but was also about $200AUD (we only ordered for two adults and shared it between the four of us to do it as cheaply as possible!). The rest of the time we just ate from the alpine bar toasties and pizzas and it wasn’t too good for the bowels…😬😬😬 we never eat that much bread! But otherwise everything was great
Staff were great, location for the ski school and the lifts was amazing and even though very dated, the hotel was quite cool with its unique design. There’s a kids room that wasn’t too bad and the onsen was nice. One thing to keep in mind is there are zero, like zero shops around and you are very isolated. I would recommend bringing snack food with you as the hotel food is very expensive. Loved the alpine bar in the evenings as we could get a toasty or a pizza and a drink whilst the snow fell around us.

AustraliaLimited variety of food at night. Essentially only two restaurants that are quite expensive and unsuitable for a long stay. The French restaurant is dated and the whole hotel could do with some refurbishment. The hotel would have been a very desirable place to stay 20 years ago however dining options certainly need to be expanded and updated with a casual family eatery which replicated the lunch menu. No other options are available due to the remote setting.
Very friendly staff and great location at base of ski slope. Rooms are reasonable. Good breakfast and lunch. Ski hire onsite. Great happy hour at the bar in the early evening.
