Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThis place clearly reflects a strict, disciplined Japanese culture. If you arrive by 2:59.999 pm they wont allow you to start checking in until is 3:00 pm. You must take your shoes off, which is normal and wear disposable slippers. You can’t walk on dirt areas with the slippers and don’t even intent to walk with your shoes into the carpets. There’s a clear line limiting area for shows and slippers and lockers with key + coin to store your shoes. Buffet breakfast was abundant and ok.

United StatesAlthough on the main street, the hotel is a bit far from public transportation. There are bus stops, but nothing in English. We took a cab from the Shinkansen station to the hotel. Once the room key is taken out, all power is shut off in the room, leaving it like a sauna when you return... we didn't get to see Mt. Fuji due to the weather, so check which month's are best for viewing.
The luggage wheels need to be cleaned at arrival and shoes put in lockers. There was a water dispenser and vending machines (beer, Cup Noodles) in the back. Amenities avaliable at the lobby and Japanese/western breakfast was very good! Staff was helpful and rooms were very clean. Many supermarkets within walking distance. Room faced Mt. Fuji (although it was cloudy).

NorwayThere was quite the walk to the nearest stations and busses. Around 15-20 minutes, which isn't bad, but not ideal.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was nice and clean. Very big compared to a lot of business hotels. More than enough space for luggage, and even a desk. The breakfast was nice. The staff was very nice and spoke English very well. There is a bus stop right outside of the hotel that goes to Fuji Station, which is very convenient.

AustraliaUnclean pillow case on arrival, but very apologetic. Confusing and annoyance from misworded instructions in the hotel guide in the room, that have been updated since. Almost denied entry to my room for cleaning as one guide said "stays over two nights, inform them you don't need cleaning" the more up to date one says "two nights or more" and was not provided as check-in.
The view from the Fuji side, staring right at the mountain

FinlandEven though it's non-smoking, the room smelled a bit of cigarettes. Vending machines & water spot occasionally out of use. Curtains didn't really block the light.

TaiwanI dont really understand the problem to take some warm water from the breakfast venue to my own water bottle. I used a cup to carry the water and pour into my bottle because I need warm water. But I seemed to be scolded by a lady working at that venue to stop. I don’t understand Japanese, but her gesture was telling me to stop. If there is a water dispenser, but customers are not allowed to use it, then it would be quite unreasonable. It would be nice to have a sign in English to let customers know the rules. I’m happy to follow honestly.
The location is not hard to find and very easy to get to by bus (10min). I like the idea that we need to take off our shoes and wipe the wheels of our luggage before getting into the main area. It feels comfortable not to wear shoes everywhere. Nearby is a 24-hr supermarket which is very convenient if you are hungry late at night.

United KingdomIt was quite a basic hotel with basic amenities. There was a fridge in each room but the microwave was on the bottom floor, and there was a vending machine again on the bottom floor.
The hotel was perfect for what we needed. We wanted a quiet evening away from the cities between Tokyo and Nagoya, and we also wanted a chance to see Fuji in all of it's glory. It was a 45 minute walk from Shin-Fuji station which gave you stunning views of the mountain as you walked towards it. It was 2 minutes from a local supermarket, and 10 minutes from the town centre that had plenty of bars and restaurants for food and drink. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and there were documents in both Japanese and English that explained any information we needed. There were decent amenities, and this was exactly what we wanted from the hotel.

IsraelA few things: Leaving shoes in a locker with a key was a hassle every time you had to go out. The cleaning of the suitcase wheels was excessive. Compared to other 3-star hotels in Japan, the breakfast is poor and the check-out time is relatively early.

United StatesThe staff were friendly and very helpful. We loved that our window faced Mt Fuji. We actually saw Mt Fuji the day we left. The clouds lifted and it was a breathtaking sight. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had quite an assortment of Japanese foods as well as coffee, teas, and juices. We throughly enjoyed our two night stay.
