How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

We arrived with car and they have parking space in front of the hotel. We made reservation for breakfast and dinner. For dinner they serve some traditional food which I do recommend trying. The owner informed us that there was a festival happening by the lake and we had really nice time.

Very friendly and helpful host. Delicious meals. Cozy atmosphere. Beautiful views to the lake. Good location - less than 10 minutes on foot from the bus terminal, and all the other main attractions are close by as well.

Such a nice stay. The food was unreal, definitely recommend booking the full package with dinner. My dad and I really enjoyed our time at Nikko Beans.

In earlier hotel message, it was unclear if using the advance check-in app, “onestayapp”, was optional or obligatory. I found it difficult to use. Fortunately, restaurant staff completed my check in. When wanting fresh towels, it would be convenient to exchange damp for fresh outside the room, so room entry is not needed. These are both small details that were outweighed by the warm hospitality.
Nikko Beans is a gem: situated by Lake Chuzenji, a view of magnificent Mt Nantai can be enjoyed while enjoying the delicious, beautifully presented meals. The friendly English-speaking chef readily answers any questions. (As other eateries in the town close by nightfall, it is wonderful to have the option of half-board.) Neat and compact double room was more spacious than it appears in photos; and bed and pillows were very comfy.

The only thing I would change is to not lock the automatic door between 21:00 and 06:00. Maybe also add a code-lock to the automatic front door that works at night? I would have liked to check the lake at night. (Maybe I missed something and you are able to enter and leave at night but I don’t think so…?)
It is located next to the lake, just a short walk away from a bus stop. Rooms and building were clean. Very good value for the price. One of my hikes took longer than expected resulting in me showing up after the kitchen closed. One of the staff was very nice about it and still made me something to eat!

First time being in a place that has no front desk and no staff (besides kitchen staff). Just a bit weird for me.
The staff member on shift in the kitchen when we arrived was very accommodating. It was a couple of minutes before closing and he had obviously cleaned up and was ready to leave, but stayed on to rustle us up a nice dinner.

This isn't a comment on the hotel but rather on the area itself - was quite a hassle finding a place to eat that was open at the time you would normally have your meals. Most places only opened at around 11 AM. Also places that were supposedly open as per google, turned out to be closed at 7 PM.
Great location - pretty much overlooking lake Chuzenji, clean room, all the required facilities. The staff were very prompt with their responses and quite helpful.

Hospitality of the owner of the hotel, and the food (both breakfast and dinner). You can see that the owner cooked with a heart full of warmth. The owner is very helpful too, giving you suggestions for your trip.

We unfortunately had a small car accident in the car park during our stay, but the owners were absolutely brilliant about it and very understanding. They really went out of their way to help us sort everything out, including translation difficulties. The room was lovely - clean, comfy, and had everything we needed. The location is what really makes this place special. Right on the lake with gorgeous views, perfect for hiking and scenic drives. We loved our morning walks around the embassies too - such a peaceful way to start the day. Would love to return to Nikko Beans one day - thank you for having us!

The beds were not the most comfortable, but we slept fine.
This is a fairly basic hotel right across from Lake Chuzenji, so the view is wonderful. The gentleman managing the whole place was super kind and spoke a bit of English. He cooked each dinner and breakfast individually, and the food was our favorite part of this place! Super delicious and affordable. Great breakfast buffet items plus made-to-order hot food. While the rooms were very basic, it was perfect for one night and a great price.

One thing was missed but this does not change anithing from satisfactionary side of stay. Just think it can be improved with detailing how to unlock hotel room doors.
Exelent place to travel around lake also it is really quite and relaxing place. Everything was clean and new. Staff was very polite and helpful. Also we were traveling a bit late but there was no problem when we contacted and informed that we might be a bit late.

The hotel staff are very kind and helpful. They have everything that you need, food, coffee and beer. The location is convenient. from here you can walk to the national road side as well as the mountain side. The hotel is clean and smell nice.
