Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Hong KongThe whole place is spacious and tranquil with a 800 years old tree inside. There are 2 or 3 buildings connecting together by the bridge and a nice river is just right down below. There are 1 indoor onsen and 1 big outdoor onsen (with a total of 10 different “pools”) in 3 mins walk, which the outdoor onsen is so nice and beautiful, and it comes with a sauna for guests to enjoy. Nice food, nice and helpful staffs, super clean and quiet. Highly recommend and it really worth the price, it’s even out of our expectation :) Only that there is only few bus going there daily and unfortunately we missed the bus and need to wait for 3 hours for the next one … if not we can enjoy a bit more at the place.

TaiwanNothing that I could think of. Overall it’s a great experience
The room was very clean. Staff was really friendly especially the ladies in kimonos who explained everything in details from the use of facilities to the food that’s served to us. Onsen was soothing and relaxing. Would definitely recommend to anyone who love onsens.

United KingdomThe room, baths, and meals were amazing. We had our own private onsen but used the public ones too, all were very nice. The included meals were delicious and seemed to be a great range of traditional Japanese cuisine.

AustraliaThe Ryokan is located really close to Fukuoka airport, only about a 45min drive but it feels really remote and secluded. It is built right on a little river and goes up the hill with a really cute timber walkway to a large public onsen area with superb facilities. At night when walking along the walkway it feels like you have been transported into a different century. Really atmospheric We stayed in a traditional tatami room which was large and comfortable. One of the highlights of the stay was the food, it was just amazing and even the dining room was amazing. Just beautiful and each table could be separated by screens. It really was a fine dining experience There were so many onsen facilities. There is an indoor one (which we didn't even have time to try), a large public outdoor onsen with lots of different pools and really pretty. And there was also a private onsen that you could book as a hotel guest for no extra cost. Overall we just had a great experience here and we can definitely say we would come back again on a future trip.

IndonesiaThere is nothing much to do around the area. You should only stay there for the onsen. 1 night is probably good enough.
The onsen experience was superb. It was not too crowded. There was an outdoor public bath with a surreal vibe. Remember to bring some money there to enjoy the milk after the onsen. The staff was really nice. I lost my JR pass there, and they helped me ship the pass to my next hotel. Very appreciated their effort on finding it.

AustraliaThe hot spring water smelt faintly of bleach, perhaps because it was chlorinated. It doesn't feel bad because it's disinfected water, but it also means it's not very good at the same time.
Most of staff can speak English and their service was amazing. Included dinner and breakfast were very very impressed. Room size was pretty big and it was my first time to see the highest technology of the bidet, it looks like coming from the future LOL
