Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOur stay at Myoko Ski Lodge was absolutely phenomenal – truly the best experience we’ve ever had! Geoff and Tania are the most incredible hosts, going above and beyond to make sure every moment of our trip was unforgettable. From day one, their knowledge of the area was invaluable. They recommended the best ski slopes tailored to each day’s conditions, ensuring we had the best runs possible. They even took the time to drive us around, making everything so convenient and seamless. But what really set this stay apart was the personal touch. After an amazing day on the slopes, sharing a laugh over Japanese sake or tea with Geoff and Tania felt like being with family. Their warmth and generosity made this lodge feel like a true home away from home. If I could give more than five stars, I would – there simply aren’t enough stars to do this place justice. I cannot recommend Myoko Ski Lodge highly enough. If you’re looking for the perfect ski getaway with exceptional hosts, this is it! Thank you, Geoff and Tania, for making our trip so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

AustraliaThe simple fact that we had to leave.
The hospitality from Jeff and Tanya was unmatched, The facilities were amazing, and you could not find a better location. Some of our favorite moments were spent sitting around the fire in the common room meeting other guests. Additionally, the extra mile Tanya and Jeff went to make our stay unforgettable only makes us want to go back time and time again.

SingaporeCommon toilet and bath (however, most accomodations in Myoko has similar shared facility)
It’s a happy place! Geoff and Tania ensured that we were well taken care of throughout the stay! They tried their best to pick us up from the train station even though there was a heavy snowfall on the night we arrived. All staffs were kind and friendly. Others who lived at the lodge were also very nice and sociable. I’m really glad to meet new friends from different parts of the world. Started the day with breakfast prepared by the team, then went snowboarding — ask Geoff to recommend ski areas if you’re unsure! Get into the onsen after a whole day of snow then head out to the village (about 7min walk) for dinner after — similarly, if you’re unsure where to eat, ask! Hang out at the common area to chill, chat, watch a movie, play games with affordable beers etc! Maximise your time here if you can! We were really sad to leave and wanted to stay an extra day.. ): till next time! Thank you Geoff and Tania for taking care of us! ❤️❤️❤️ *remember to have Yen or AUD with you to pay for your tab before you check out!

United StatesI’d offer an 11th star if Booking.com would let me. The Myoko Ski Lodge is perfectly located and a lovely residence, but the hosts – Geoff and Tania – are what made this a truly amazing trip for us. This was our first time skiing in Japan, and we could not have picked a better spot to stay. It’s walkable to an Akakura Onsen chairlift as well as the free shuttle stop that can take you to Akakura Kanko. The hosts helped us with transport and gear rental on our first day, allowing us to hit the slopes quickly and easily. They also helped the two non-skiers in our group set up interesting activities for the week. Our rooms were very comfortable for our family of five, breakfast was plentiful, and the onsen (natural hot springs) on the first floor were the perfect way to end a day of skiing. The town is lovely, not too big, not too small, and plenty of easy dining options. We were a tiny bit leery of the shared spaces when we booked (as we treasure our privacy), but I’m convinced this is THE way to go for a ski vacation. We made some great friends on the trip and it was so nice to hang out around the fire and share stories over a drink or two with other guests. The kids had a blast and we all enjoyed playing games in the play area/den. It truly felt like a home away from home. I thought a Japan ski trip might be a one-time experience, but I’m convinced that THIS is the way to ski – zero lines, great snow, good food, small town (non-commercialized) feel, onsens, and hosts who seemingly live to share this great experience with their guests. We will be back for sure!
