    Nothing.

Comfortable and cosy lodge close to fantastic ski resorts. The hosts went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Excellent breakfast each day, two onsens and a great lounge area for relaxing. Tania & Geof are great hosts and will ensure you have a great time.

Our stay at Myoko Ski Lodge was absolutely phenomenal – truly the best experience we’ve ever had! Geoff and Tania are the most incredible hosts, going above and beyond to make sure every moment of our trip was unforgettable. From day one, their knowledge of the area was invaluable. They recommended the best ski slopes tailored to each day’s conditions, ensuring we had the best runs possible. They even took the time to drive us around, making everything so convenient and seamless. But what really set this stay apart was the personal touch. After an amazing day on the slopes, sharing a laugh over Japanese sake or tea with Geoff and Tania felt like being with family. Their warmth and generosity made this lodge feel like a true home away from home. If I could give more than five stars, I would – there simply aren’t enough stars to do this place justice. I cannot recommend Myoko Ski Lodge highly enough. If you’re looking for the perfect ski getaway with exceptional hosts, this is it! Thank you, Geoff and Tania, for making our trip so memorable. We can’t wait to return!

The simple fact that we had to leave.

The hospitality from Jeff and Tanya was unmatched, The facilities were amazing, and you could not find a better location. Some of our favorite moments were spent sitting around the fire in the common room meeting other guests. Additionally, the extra mile Tanya and Jeff went to make our stay unforgettable only makes us want to go back time and time again.

Common toilet and bath (however, most accomodations in Myoko has similar shared facility)

It’s a happy place! Geoff and Tania ensured that we were well taken care of throughout the stay! They tried their best to pick us up from the train station even though there was a heavy snowfall on the night we arrived. All staffs were kind and friendly. Others who lived at the lodge were also very nice and sociable. I’m really glad to meet new friends from different parts of the world. Started the day with breakfast prepared by the team, then went snowboarding — ask Geoff to recommend ski areas if you’re unsure! Get into the onsen after a whole day of snow then head out to the village (about 7min walk) for dinner after — similarly, if you’re unsure where to eat, ask! Hang out at the common area to chill, chat, watch a movie, play games with affordable beers etc! Maximise your time here if you can! We were really sad to leave and wanted to stay an extra day.. ): till next time! Thank you Geoff and Tania for taking care of us! ❤️❤️❤️ *remember to have Yen or AUD with you to pay for your tab before you check out!

I’d offer an 11th star if Booking.com would let me. The Myoko Ski Lodge is perfectly located and a lovely residence, but the hosts – Geoff and Tania – are what made this a truly amazing trip for us. This was our first time skiing in Japan, and we could not have picked a better spot to stay. It’s walkable to an Akakura Onsen chairlift as well as the free shuttle stop that can take you to Akakura Kanko. The hosts helped us with transport and gear rental on our first day, allowing us to hit the slopes quickly and easily. They also helped the two non-skiers in our group set up interesting activities for the week. Our rooms were very comfortable for our family of five, breakfast was plentiful, and the onsen (natural hot springs) on the first floor were the perfect way to end a day of skiing. The town is lovely, not too big, not too small, and plenty of easy dining options. We were a tiny bit leery of the shared spaces when we booked (as we treasure our privacy), but I’m convinced this is THE way to go for a ski vacation. We made some great friends on the trip and it was so nice to hang out around the fire and share stories over a drink or two with other guests. The kids had a blast and we all enjoyed playing games in the play area/den. It truly felt like a home away from home. I thought a Japan ski trip might be a one-time experience, but I’m convinced that THIS is the way to ski – zero lines, great snow, good food, small town (non-commercialized) feel, onsens, and hosts who seemingly live to share this great experience with their guests. We will be back for sure!
