Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOnly if you decided to go out to local town in evening and staff not available to drop you off there would be additional taxi charges as the property is not walking distance.
Welcoming staff and building ambience, pick up and drop off to local train station, as well as a number of local ski areas each day at various times and option to go further afield is an excellent inclusion. The half board option to try different local produce prepared well by in house chef is also a great option so you can relax after a full day outdoors. The bedrooms are well appointed with warm and comfortable bedding and good heating and hanging and storage availability in room as well as the large drying room downstairs. Staff always available to make you feel at home and enjoy stay.

United StatesAll was great, only wish that we could've stayed longer!
The staff are all awesome and they care deeply about the Forest Lodge and their guest experience! The rooms are wonderful, the common areas are super comfortable, with an updated but traditional feel. Beautiful drying room and tuning area in the basement, and everyone is there to ski/ride so you'll get solid tips. They're happy to give you a lift to/from the resort if you don't have a car. The view from the private onsen was really wonderful. Recommended in Myoko!

United StatesWe recently came from accommodations that the guests and employees were mostly Japanese. Outside of the Japanese touches in the lodge and the Japanese hospitality touch the owners and staff offer, we wouldn’t be able to tell if we were in Japan, Australia, Europe or America. As petty as that sounds but that was our only gripe.
Communication pre arrival was on point Accommodations were exceptionally clean, well organized and the property was well taken care of. Staff and owners were super helpful, thoughtful and gracious hosts. Loved the morning coffee and breakfast and the Japanese BBQ! The included resort and town shuttles were awesome to have. Room we had was spacious, had actual hangers and a hanging space and the bed was super comfy. Ski room was an added bonus as was the Japanese tub (can’t remember the name) Local knowledge of terrain outside the resort boundaries was a huge plus for us.

AustraliaNothing!
I cannot stop raving about our stay to our ski-friends. The combination of the wonderful staff, meals, warm rooms and everything-you-need facilities through to the return transfers each day, I’ll be returning again. My daughter and I shared a twin room w shared bathroom for 8 nights. With only 3 rooms sharing the schedule for the bathroom there was no issue with access. Plus the mineral bath was amazing!

SingaporeThe hotel location was not near town but the hotel does provide free transport to the nearby ski resort everyday. Transport to other ski resorts are also available at a small fee. There wasn’t any food options nearby but the hotel offers different dining options everyday.
Both the hosts, Brett and Chereyne, were amazing people! The room was nice, clean and warm. The lounge area was cozy and it was a nice place to chill and enjoy some drinks especially after a long day out snowboarding.

NetherlandsThe bathroom was a bit cold.
Everything was pretty exceptional! The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were having a good time and were comfortable. They're really knowledgeable about the area and have great suggestions for ski resorts and other activities. The meals, both breakfast and dinner were great and really social affairs too! We also really appreciated the daily transfers that were organized.

Germanynothing, come to think of it.....
brett and cheryene were ever gracious hosts. i enquired about onsens nearby and cheryene took the trouble to pass some info to me the next day at breakfast which was much appreciated. meals were always delicious and i did have drinks during dinner, but since i had missed a few dinners during my stay, they made the gesture to cover my drinks during the stay, which, i might add, they didn't have to do. driving to the resorts was a non-issue, since all were close, within 5km. will stay with them again on my next visit to myoko. by the way, mingling with the other snowboarders and skiers during meals was so fantasti as well!

New ZealandA little far away to walk to the nearest village for dinner etc. although the lodge did provide paid transfers to dinner and was possible to eat in house.
The staff at Myoko Forest Lodge were exceptional. They cooked great food, had excellent tips and advice about the area including good info on where the best snow might be found. We were treated like VIPs by everyone. The beds were super warm and cozy and the inhouse bath was divine.

New ZealandIf we stayed again we'd probably rent a car to have a bit more flexibility to get around, although saying that the van transfers to different resorts was very handy.

New ZealandNothing, all great!
This place is amazing! The room was super clean, warm, and the bed was really comfortable. Good reliable WiFi throughout the lodge, and if you're a skier or snowboarder the drying room downstairs is perfect for storing your gear. The location is lovely and scenic but only a short drive to plenty of places to eat, the train station, and the various snow resorts; transfers to the resorts were easy to organise, and a few of the closer ones are offered free of charge (the further ones cost but are very reasonable). The traditional bath they have available is also incredible for a soak after a big day on the mountain! Chereyne and Brett are fantastic hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the area, very welcoming and happy to help with things like train station pickups, making local dinner reservations, making resort recommendations etc. They were also super accommodating of my dietary requirements (vegan) for all meals we ate at the lodge - amazing cooked breakfasts with continental options available too, and beautiful traditional barbeque dinners (they alternate with more western style meals and it's up to you which you want to eat in/out for). Myoko is a beautiful spot with some amazing snow to be enjoyed and it's super accessible from Tokyo, would absolutely recommend this place and hope we get the opportunity to come back!

AustraliaNothing to fault there - all 4 of us loved our stay :)
The Lodge is very well presented with a variety of rooms - we had a queen with an ensuite - not really big but totally fine as you spend your time in the main lounge and dining area which is comfortable and relaxing. The staff are fun and helpful, as are the owners, Cheryene and Brett - they are a great team (Cheryenes' a chef and Brett does the transporting of guests and behind the scenes man stuff). The food was great - no need to go out and the wine and drinks in house were fab - they put on a wonderful outdoor drinks party around the fire with Glühwein (and beer or GnT's) which was divine.

AustraliaThe lodge is set up in a fusion of western and Japanese style. This means that the showers are quite small. Not really an issue but a little difficult for a tall man like me. But this is minor in my opinion.
Staff are extremely accomodating. Very friendly and the food was awesome. Each night had a different meal and some evenings we used the “inori” (Japanese hearth to barbecue on). Really cool relaxing area down by the bar with an open fireplace. Great for recovery days and just chilling out. Transfers to all close snow resorts were not a problem and we will definitely go back.

AustraliaWe never quite got the hang of the little room heater, which seemed to turn itself off a bit randomly - but we didn’t ask for advice either, so this was probably an operator error rather than a genuine problem.
This is a delightful, small, independent lodge in a picturesque, quiet little area just outside Myoko. We wondered about staying off the snow, but Shereyne and Brett were so obliging with shuttling us around that it was no problem at all. And they were able to advise on the best slope for the conditions each day. The drying room for ski gear was wonderful. The rooms are a good size for Japan, with lovely, modern appointments. A lovely comfy bed, but not much storage for clothes, as is often the case. We had our own little bathroom , with small bath and good shower, but there was also the option of private use of the big mineral bath, which was lovely after a day on the slopes. We took the breakfast and dinner option, and the meals were superb. A couple of evenings featured an indoor Japanese bbq pit, with fresh seafood, meat and veges - delicious!

AustraliaWe had a lovely stay for 5 days at the lodge! We didn’t quite get the snow we hoped for, however, Brett & Chereyne were able to give us local knowledge and help us make the absolute most of our trip. The lodge was the perfect place for a rest day and to wind down after hitting the slopes. The food was fantastic - extremely high quality. The bar was excellently stocked. Thanks to all the wonderful staff there. We hope to make it back again soon!

The daily breakfast was delicious; the best before a full day at the snow. Dinner was available during our stay & the nights we decided to eat-in was no disappointment: the Irori BBQ was exceptional & a highlight.
