Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

MalaysiaPerhaps Arima Onsen is a pricey area. Could be more price friendly.
Excellent customer service from the staff. Can select the type of pillows to suit your needs I thought was good for a comfy night sleep. The onsen was excellent. In room dinner was good as expected, and as was for breakfast.

United StatesLuxury meets comfort. Though they offer shuttle bus transportation services, we decided to walk the town and make way to the hotel on our own, which proved to be quite an exercise that we did not repeat as it sits very near the top of a hill in this lovely town. The staff was warm and welcoming throughout our stay. We donned our yukata and geta (we had to wear the men’s shoes because the ladies’ option was entirely too dainty for our feet) and previous lesson learned, took the shuttle bus back into town. Everyone in town seemed excited to see us in traditional clothing and was kind enough not to point out that I wore my yukata incorrectly. We enjoyed the foot bath and when the weather changed rather suddenly to wintry rain/snow mix, we called the shuttle bus back to pick us and barely had to wait five minutes. The staff escorted us to and from the vehicle with umbrellas. The food was an amazing, traditional Japanese kaiseki meal served in our room which slightly overwhelmed some of our less adventurous eaters, but they tried everything at least. Note, this was a seven course meal and by the end, we wished we had taken the earlier dinner option as dinner ended two hours later. Even though we booked the room with the private open air spring, we wanted to try the public spring following dinner. And I am so very glad we did! Though the private bath is amazing and accessible, the night sky in the open air public bathing area was sublime. The next morning we extended our stay by an hour because my husband was not feeling well. The staff were super sweet in their concern, even asking about the rest of our party. The actual hospitality of the entire staff almost brought my best friend to tears as they bid us farewell.

AustraliaMore souvenir for the hotel itself please!
The service was impeccable, the staff delightful and the aesthetics outstanding. Easing into the calming, soothing onsen and letting the cares of life slip away was magnificent. It was an amazing experience to enjoy the massage chair and the private onsen in our own room anytime during our stay. Also, the lobby has many nice/interesting decorations so guests can enjoy their time while waiting/sitting around.

CanadaIt’s located up a steep hill. Upon arrival we didn’t have access to a local phone to call a shuttle down to the train station so we had to pull 2 large suitcases and a stroller with a toddler up that hill for 13 minutes. We had asked for a futon for our toddler and weren’t told it was an extra charge of $30/night until check-out which was very unfortunate. We wished they told is upfront, as the website stated a toddler stays for free.
Clean and well kept facilities. Exceptional breakfast. Wonderful staff. Loved the massage chair in the room. Would have loved to try the dinner as it looked phenomenal but it was all booked up.

United StatesThis is beyond the location's control, but I wish there was an easier way to Arima station from Osaka. I had to walk up the hill from the bus stop.
I loved the staff. Everyone was so kind and welcoming! I am learning Japanese and everyone was more than willing to teach me what I didn't understand yet. I absolutely loved the food. If you are staying alone, then you probably won't need to order any additional side meals. You will be served plenty of food!
